You guys realize he has legit power, and 70 grade speed right? They don't have to pretend anything. There's definitely a realistic chance he could be a productive hitter. I don't know why it's a foregone conclusion that he will not hit at all.

Because these guys don’t know anything about him, or NPB. They just assume he’s not as talented as people say because he plays in what they think is a vastly inferior league. I can’t wait till they’re wrong.

Angles are hoping he’ll make the decision on his own and in the mean time they’ll collect some extra ticket sales.

I'm just joking around. But I definitely don't think Otani is going to be any joke at the plate. I think he's easily an upgrade over what they've had at DH for a couple years now. And he'll probably end up giving them more WAR as a hitter than Pujols (as could about 200 other guys in the minors right now). They have a ton of experienced professional hitters in that lineup now he won't have much pressure to actually perform too much, whatever he does at the plate is a bonus. The only thing I worry about is the strikeouts, but that's probably the last thing the front office cares about right now.

I just did this in a game last night and realized I forgot to respond. Yes, this works. Example: Adam Wainwright gets a hit. You pinch run Jordan Schafer. If you go to the bullpen and hit "schedule to pitch" with anyone else, Schafer will not be required to go to the mound.

It’s using the pitcher as the pinch that makes them required to pitch. But if the schedule to pitch thing works for that that’s good.

MLB The Show just tweeted a video showing Ohtani pitching in Retro Mode. Do they have the rights to him?

It would certainly appear that way...that's quite the little nugget to throw in a retro mode video.

But at the same time, that obviously wasn't the game's default roster either (because Jr.). So....who knows?

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one to screenshot that part of the video. Maybe they individually negotiated his rights since he’s not a part of MLBPA (yet), similar to how they get the legends’ rights?

                    That would be huge.

Okay if they went and individually acquired his rights outside of the MLBPA it has to be so they could implement 2 way players. Right? Am I crazy for making that leap? This is pretty unprecedented as far as I can remember. I’ve never seen a rookie who has never played in MLB in the game on day one. And for them to go and get him I feel like it has to be specific. Then again I guess they could be fully swept up in the hype train and wanted him in the game day one because he’s a potential superstar.

I don’t think there has ever been a rookie like Ohtani. Obviously there was a lot of hype surrounding guys like Griffey, A-Rod, and more recently Harper, but with the whole free agent saga he is probably the most talked about player to have not played in a MLB game. Plus, if they wanted to add two-way player capability, they would likely need someone to test it out on prior to the game releasing. Obviously this is all speculation but fingers crossed...

I think they are really getting in our heads now lol, the fact they showed this in a trailer means they must have some legal
Right, I mean he isn’t even angels ace, they specifically went and chose him

Well done SCEA. Both the little Easter egg and what seems like negotiating individual rights to get him in the game for release

It's like a two second clip of Griffey hitting a walk-off homer off of him, you can't really see the delivery.
