Let it go man, move on without looking back, you'll be ok. I'll kindly stay back with this game and enjoy it for the reasons why IT IS the gold standard for console sports gaming!

Is there some kind of inside joke regarding Chris Hatcher that I'm not aware of? His player card is still one from him as a Catcher on the FLORIDA Marlins.

Great! Thanks for letting us know. Personally I hated PYS, but that's just me. To each their own. Enjoy PYS, guess we won't be seeing you around here anymore.

My biggest problem with the game this year? I can't play balls of the wall to save my life. I swear every time I think I am in the right place, it goes over my head and I have to scramble for it.

Re: MLB The Show 18 First Impressions

Finally got around to checking out this years game.
Where to start.... Every year The Show changes and upgrades enough from the previous year that warrents me to pick up the newest game upon release. This year is the first time i didn't buy the game. While some improvements (some for the better, some for the worst) have been made, but this year just hasn't sold me.

                  The good:

Rain delays - cool and well implemented idea, games being interrupt in the middle of a game adds a new piece to the chess board. (i had a perfect game going into the 6th inning when i got hit with a rain delay that lasted longer than 45 minutes causing me to pull my starter from the game, bummer, but thats baseball).

Presentation - The new camera angles and shots around the stadiums do capture the likeness of a really game even more so than previous years (we need even more of them for next year and perhaps have them play out more so during big at bats, and after big plays)

Graphics - days games just keep looking better and better, white colored uniforms just pop so well in the daylight. The brightness of day games captures the feel of watching a day game and the players really pop off the screen and starting to feel more life like (although not everything graphic wise is a plus, more on that with the bad)

Gameplay - hit for variety keeps improving, and the new catching and tagging animations are doing their jobs to further blur the line between video game and real life (but there is some bad that comes along with it).

Player emotions - i like additions, gives the games a little more excitement, that attempts to help draw you in. (can't wait for more to be added in later games)

                  Now the Bad:

Graphics - while day games keep getting better, night games not so much. The colors in this game tend to go dull and muted and don't really pop at all especially on night games. (was playing the cards vs padres game last night while watching the actually game, and theres is a huge difference between the two. Everything in the real broadcast on night games is still shiney and bright and reflect the lighting for the stadium, everything in the show is dull and flat and has no real dimension to it).

Player Models - i don't know what happened here, but at lot of player models this year are trash.. The players with face scans, heads look great, but their bodies have taken a huge step back, shoulders looks to be a main issue, everyone looks like their shoulders are 20 inches long on each side (check out cardinals Jose Martinez in the game, his body looks a extremely awkward and unrealistic). Part of the problem is The Show doesn't indivdually sculpt the bodies of each player and sculpt the bodies during animations to make things look more natural and fluid (and they probably can't due to the shear amount of animations and memory it would take to do so) but previous years have looked better.

Gameplay - new animation are always good, but they seemed to play out a bit rough and are not exactly fluided and polished here. I'm seeing a slight stutter during transitions.

Player emotions - these need to be more streamlined and intergrated during the action of plays. You hit a double and you watch your player get to 2nd base like business as usual, but then theres a cut scene to him being excited like he just realized after a minute he just got a big hit. The player emotions would work so much better having them done in real-time. (A few strike out emotions actaully does this well).

Overall, i would of still been happy if i would of bought this years game, but I'm okay with skipping it and hoping next year corrects a few of the issues i have. The show always improves a little bit each year but sometimes you just have to take a year off and come back to get a noticeably improved ballgame.

There is just something about Jon Gray's delivery that completely baffles me and keeps me off balanced. It wasn't until the 8th inning last night that I was able to manage to finally get a hit and that was because I swung at a slider that I thought was a fastball, hit it off the end of the bat into no man's land between 1st base, pitcher's mound, and home plate and was able to beat out the throw with Harrison Bader.

We did manage 3 hits in total but that was the lone hit off of Gray, in route to a 5-0 defeat to the Rockies last night.

That’s how I feel about Baltimore’s love affair with all the sidearms they got in the pen. Can’t hit em and I play Baltimore a lot

I got a new Sony 4K tv a couple months ago. Played 17 a bit more and finally decided to get 18. The one thing I want to comment on is how amazing it looks with HDR on and the display set at fast. I'm assuming this means 60fps? Wow.

Me either. Now, I just hit L2 to switch to another fielder, and let the cpu play the bounce. The usually get in the correct position.

I think they should add an optional indicator for where the ball will bounce after it hits the wall. Its almost impossible to judge the angle and bounce the ball will take after hitting the wall.

As someone who uses full roster control they have made it very difficult when it comes to PLAYER MOVEMENT. For some reason they dropped all A ball players from the player movement screen. If you want to move someone from A ball to another team you have to bring that person up to the ML (he will then show in the screen) and then make the move. Then you have to readjust your ML roster so that there aren't 26 players on it.

I sent in a bug report and thought it might get corrected. I have no idea the thinking behind dropping all A ball players from this screen.
