Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

I'm not sure if I'm in a proper thread but I have a question pertaining regression. I cant seem to find any sort of formula to prevent older stars to not regress so rapidly. I find it odd because in a mets franchise I'll sim a month and cano can be tearing it up and overall be down 10, and in another franchise he is barely hitting .200 and practically nothing changes. Anyone have some insight?

MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

Having just wrapped up the 2019 MLB Draft, the Dodgers sit 8.5 games up on the Rockies in the West with a 44-20 Record. This crazy season has featured a 10 game losing streak, a 10 game winning winning streak as well as one 18 inning marathon of a game.

My bullpen continues to struggle due to lacking quality depth waiting for the call up in the Minor Leagues. This is an issue I hopefully addressed in the Draft. My starting rotation continues to make every game winnable by consistently placing our relievers in good positions when they enter into the game.

Kike Hernandez has had a rough go at the plate, so I’m not longer rotating him with Joc Pederson in LF. Kurt Suzuki has been a great offseason signing playing well rotating with Barnes and coming in as a pinch hitter when needed.

Cody Bellinger, who started off hot with 17 HRs by the end of April only hit one during the month of May but leads the team with 18 HRs and 45 RBIs. Stripling continues to have the lowest ERA in baseball posting a 1.30. Justin Turner leads the MLB with a .366 AVG.

      Rotation:
      C. Kershaw, 8-2, 2.88
      C. Stern, 5-4, 2.33
      W. Buehler, 7-3, 1.67
      R. Stripling, 5-2, 1.30
      J. Urias, 6-1, 2.94

      Pen:
      R. Hill, 1-2, 4.41
      D. Floro, 4-0, 3.60
      J. Smith, 2-0, 3.03
      R. Maddon, 1-1, 3.60
      S. Alexander, 0-1, 4.05
      K. Maeda, 3-1, 6.67
      J. Fields, 1-2, 2.95
      K. Jansen, 1-1, 3.52, 21 saves

      Lineup:
      2B: C. Taylor, 6 HR, 26 RBI, .308
      3B: J. Turner, 10 HR, 30 RBI, .366
      SS: C. Seager, 6 HR, 32 RBI, .317
      CF: C. Bellinger, 18 HR, 45 RBI, .314
      1B: M. Muncy, 14 HR, 27 RBI, .262
      LF: J. Pederson, 10 HR, 24 RBI, .245
      RF: Y. Puig, 13 HR, 32 RBI, .273
      C: A. Barnes, 5 HR, 18 RBI, .262

      Bench:
      C- K. Suzuki, 2 HR, 4 RBI, .258
      IF-B. Lowe, 2 HR, 5 RBI, .253
      IF/OF- K. Hernandez, 4 HR, 11 RBI, .207
      OF-A. Toles, 3 HR, 13 RBI, .278

      Current IL:
      60 Days:
C- JP Fullerton, Fractured Arm (42 days)
SP- Yadier Alvarez, Torn Finger Ligament (45 days)
SP- Dylan Baker, Broken Hand (48 days)

      Drafted Players:
      RP- Adrian Ybarra 64 OVR
      2B- Carmen Marmolejo 67 OVR
      C- Lonnie Pena 72 OVR
      RP- Cesar Fernandez 56 OVR
      CF- Rich Pineda 60 OVR
      3B- Alonso Jensen 67 OVR
      C- Juan Dorta 56 OVR
      RP- David Fuller 58 OVR
      RP- Prince Pena 60 OVR

Catcher Lonnie Pena is the player I’m most excited about in this bunch. With a 90 Potential and already at 72 OVR I see a future pairing him with JP Fullerton when Barnes is no longer needed. With my 4 relievers Potentials being 74, 77, 77, 73 I’m hoping they can slowly build in the system or at least provide some depth there for now.

(I’ll be changing the names of ALL drafted players to line up with current prospects)

      Around the League:
NL Central: Cubs up 6.5 games over Brewers
NL East: Mets up 5.5 games over Nationals
AL East: Red Sox up 7.0 games over Yankees
AL Central: Indians up 6.0 games over Twins
AL West: Mariners up 6.0 games over Astros

      Best Record: Mariners 45-19
      Worst Record: Orioles 13-49

Hey new member. Hi guys. I’m a little confused. I am trying to start a new franchise with a vault roster but every time I start the year it reverts the players back.
        For example.
The roster creator has put cespedes in AA as he’s on the dl but the minute I start it puts him straight on the mlb 25. I didn’t have this issue in 18.
        Ideas?
        Any help would be appreciated.
If you can understand my poorly written rubbish 😂

Also a first time poster....played my first franchise game last night - as the Braves at Phillies. Everything was going fine until I took my SP out for a reliever and also pinch hit. When that happened all kinds of hell broke loose for the final 3 or so innings. My final box score only accounted for 5 hits (instead of 14) and most of my guys said I only had 1 or 2 AB instead or 4-5. My 1st inning Ozzie Albies 3 run homer was no where to be found. For some reason my entire lineup history somehow vanished when I brought in a PH and new pitcher. Also, in the 8th inning the Phillies brought in a "PH" Realmuto even though he started the game as the catcher. I hoped after the entire game was over the season would still see my stats but after I got back to the main menu they were basically all gone. Oh by the way Folty, my Braves SP had 12 strikeouts but the final tally was 0. This could be a deal breaker for me as I love to keep track of how my players are doing. I haven't played a baseball game in probably 10 years. Anyone else experience this or should I hope that tonight is a different story? Or maybe the patch that just came out will fix this.

This happened to me when I switched from a live game to Quick Manage mode during a game. Did you make your pitching change in the quick manage menu? If so that may have caused it. Its annoying and I hope they fix it, that was the only time I had the issue though.

Hey guys. Is anyone else seeing any injuries in games played? I’m using Armours sliders with injuries at 9 and play every game. I have played 10 games without even a DTD to this point. Just curious on how others have experienced it. Maybe I’m not seeing any because I rotate my lineup regularly and my players are staying fresh!

After losing 2 out of 3 to the Orioles, the Yankees rebounded in a big way by sweeping Detroit in 3. Before the third game I cranked both pitch speeds up to 7, feels a lot better now. Was early on almost everything before, felt so slow. A good mix with my timing results now. Won the first game 4-3. Won the second one with a suicide squeeze off a Torres bunt, 3-2. Can play that game too. Kinda satisfying giving the CPU a taste of its own medicine.

Before game 3 we signed 2B Brandon Phillips to a 1 year 2.6M contract. We don’t have much quality depth so Phillips will step right in as our backup IF. Wade is pretty quick and a good defender but his bat is just too weak, so he’ll head back to AAA. Despite being 37 and a very brief but poor time in Boston last year, it’s worth noting he’s only 1 season removed from hitting 285, 11 SB, and 13 HR’s. His defense is below average at this point, but he’s still a high quality contact hitter. Sees the ball extremely well and makes great contact against both LH and RH pitching. A very clutch player who also elevates his play with the game on the line, from the 9th inning and onwards. Rarely strikes out.

In the third game, after Severino put us in a 4-0 hole after 5, the Yankee offense exploded with a 6 run 5th, including a 2 run shot from Stanton, his first HR of the 2019 season. Phillips Yankee debut went well hitting lead off, he had a 2 RBI single as he lined it into LF. Gleyber’s defense at 3B would cost us in the 9th, dropping a ball that should’ve been a game ending double play and Chapman save. After narrowly escaping a dangerous situation with a runner on 2nd and 1 out by striking out both LeMahieu and Judge, they couldn’t do it again in the 10th.

After a Stanton K, Voit pulled one to left for a walkoff solo HR! See ya! Just enough on it! Yankees win 7-6.

Now onto Baltimore to hopefully get revenge. They are somehow 5-1 after sweeping Toronto and are ahead of us by 1 game. Time to take the only division lead they’ll have all year off their hands.

I’m in the 2nd week of my season and already have 3 guys on the DL.

                          Injuries sliders at 6.

About to wrap up my first offseason with the Royals.

The Giants offered me a trade of Brandon Belt (31 years old, 81 overall), Brandon Crawford (33/79), and Leody Taveras (21/65 with A potential) for Adalberto Mondesi (24/86/B).

I rejected it because I have no interest in spending $35 million for a slight upgrade at first, a downgrade at short, and a prospect who might in a few years be as good as the player I'd be giving up.

But the trade made sense. The Giants were using a top prospect to dump salary while acquiring a great young player. I have tons of money in my budget and could absorb those contracts while adding an intriguing young player. If I wanted to extend my rebuild by a couple years, this would've been a totally logical trade to make, perhaps flipping Belt for an additional prospect.

I don't recall ever being offered a trade like this in 18. Really cool to see.

After a posting a 7.04 ERA in 6 appearances while accumulating 2 losses, the 2019 Dodgers (46-22) send 29 year old LHP Scott Alexander back down to AAA. After being called up when Kershaw was injured and Rich Hill was moved into the rotation, Alexander failed to make a case for why he belonged. The 34 year old RHP Dan Otero was called up to fill his spot in the pen.

This moves leave Hill as the only lefty amongst the relievers.

My carryover White Sox in Spring Training of the 2022 season are 8-6 through the first 14 games of Spring.

We did pick up RP Archie Bradley in the off season as well has a couple prospects there were somehow left in the free agent pool at the start of spring in SP Andre Simons, 18 year old 67 overall A potential and SS Daniel Paul, 20 year old 69 overall B potential.

Most of the team is set for opening day except for the LF spot. The race for that spot is wide open. Adam Engel and Daniel Palka platooned that spot last season and it'll either be that platoon again or rookie and #8 overall prospect Richie Cortez. All 3 are hitting over .300 in spring. Palka at .320, Engel at .310 and Cortez at .304. Cortez also has homered.

May have a spot or two on the bench open as well.

As a team we are leading baseball in Average so far in Spring but tied for 21st in runs scored with 45 and last in homers with only 5. I wish was hitting few more homers, but we are not the most powerful team in the league anyway.

With 13 games to go in Spring contemplating simming the rest of Spring or playing it out. I am itching to start the regular season but I do wanna keep playing for the race for the LF spot. Decisions, decisions.
