I would sub Tejeda or a pitcher for Albert.

Cardinals beat Pirates 2-0 on Opening Day

The Cardinals (1-0) got the 2022 campaign off to a great start by shutting out the Pirates, 2-0, at PNC Park.

Jack Flaherty was dominant is his first start of 2022 going 7 innings allowing no runs on 3 hits, 2 walks, and striking out 9. Manager Oliver Marmol thought about sending Flaherty back out for the 8th, but Flaherty had thrown 103 pitches after 7 and though he was cruising, no since in risking injury.

Alex Reyes pitched a perfect 8th and Giovanny Gallegos was called upon to get the save in the 9th, but he allowed a one out triple to Ben Gamel. He then proceeded to strike out Bryan Reynolds, but was pulled by Marmol in favor of Genesis Cabrera to face left handed hitting Daniel Vogelbach. Cabrera got Vogelbach to hit a soft liner to Goldschmidt to end the game and preserve the victory.

The Cardinals got offense from Paul DeJong who hit a RBI double in the 2nd driving home Dylan Carlson. In the 5th, they added another run on a Tommy Edman solo homerun.

The two teams are off tomorrow, but will hit the field again on Saturday as Adam Wainwright will take the ball for the Cardinals.

A trip around the bases of the league

1st) Noah Syndergaard thru a perfect game on Opening Day for the Angels in their win against the A's

2nd) In not so good news for the Angels, Shohei Ohtani is on the 10 day IL with a wrist fracture. He suffered this during spring training and should return by May.

3rd) Reds placed starting pitcher Tyler Mahle on the 15 day IL due to shoulder issue. Mahle could miss the first two months of the season with the injury. Top prospect Hunter Greene was recalled.

Home) Clayton Kershaw won his debut start with the Texas Rangers. He went 8 innings striking out 7 giving up one run and just 5 hits.

I don't play with the DH in the NL (traditional rules) so I really have no use for Albert. He only plays first base and short hands the bench should we need to give guys days off. If he was capable of playing both corner infield positions, I'd consider it, but for me, while I'd love to play one more year with Albert, it doesn't fit the makeup of our team.

Hello everyone, I attached the first article of my Padres franchise, it had to be in PDF form. My hope is to keep doing this as I think it's pretty fun.

I put the pictures below but they have to be inserted as 2 different pages, clicking on the PDF is the better result for viewing.

Suzuki is the obvious one, but DrSublime from here on OS has a good CAP of him in the vault if you want to grab that version of him for now. Then there’s a few other notable names, like Robinson Cano and Ken Giles, also missing.

Other then that, the rosters are probably in the best state they’ve ever been in this early.
Except for players who were not in the league last year. Those have to wait for the update after they play a game

The Toronto Blue Jays opened the 2022 season with a 4-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles.

Bo Bichette went 3-4 with a double, home run and 3 RBI. Kevin Gausman earned the win, going 6 innings and allowed just the one run on 6 hits and struck out 7.

Cubs beat the Cards 9-6 and have won three in a row to improve to 3-2.

Ortega had 2 home runs and 4RBI. Jason Heyward had a 3 run homer vs his former team. And Nico and Madrigal each had an RBI. Albert Pujols did what he has done so many times against the cubs and not only homered once but twice. However it was not enough.

Cards started the season off by completing the sweep of the Pirates at PNC last night. Harrison Bader broke the game open in the 8th inning with a HUGE 3 run shot! A good start to the season for sure batting wise. Mikolas struggled early but settled in late and was able to make it through 6 before being relieved.

Cardinals drop opening series to Pirates

The Cardinals (1-2) dropped the opening series of the 2022 season, as they lost 2 of 3 to the Pirates in Pittsburgh.

After winning on Opening Day behind a dominant performance from Jack Flaherty, Wainwright and Matz were knocked around as the Pirates scored 13 runs in the two games combined off the pitchers.

The offense was pretty decent but couldn't score enough to keep pace with the Pirates.

The Cardinals will travel to Chicago for a brief two game series with the Cubs at Wrigley before going St.Louis to play in front of the hometown fans for the first time in 2022 with a 4 game series with the Pirates.

A trip around the bases of the league

1st) Juan Soto hit his 100th career homerun in a series against the Mets

2nd) Reds have recalled top pitching prospect Hunter Greene to the active roster

3rd) Angels prospect Michael Stefanic plates 5 RBI's in his MLB debut

Home) Royals, Rangers, Nationals, and Reds find themselves in first place after the first series of games

Cardinals drop both games of 2 game series with Cubs

The Cardinals (1-4) have now lost 4 straight as they dropped both games of a mini 2 game series with the Cubs in Chicago.

On Monday, the Cardinals got a good start from Miles Mikolas who went 6.1 innings before leaving with the game tied at 2. Unfortunately, the Cardinals would be walked off in bottom of the 9th when Patrick Wisdom hit a solo homerun off of Alex Reyes to give the Cubs a 3-2 win.

After an off day Tuesday, the Cardinals turned the ball over to Dakota Hudson who got rocked thru 5 innings. He allowed 6 runs on 7 hits and walked 4 in route to his first loss of the season. The only silver lining to this outing was, one Yadier Molina recording a 3 for 3 day, and two Ryan Helsley striking out the 4 batters he faced on just 15 pitches. The Cardinals would commit 3 errors in this game just to add salt to the wound.

The Cardinals will look to snap this funk they are in as they head to St.Louis for the first homestand of the season beginning with a 4 game series with the Pirates.

A Trip Around the Bases of the League

1st) Wander Franco living up to his massive contract as he has 5 homeruns in his last 2 games

2nd) Hunter Greene impressed in his debut with the Reds going 7 strong against the Pirates recording 10 strikeouts

3rd) Rangers and Marlins may want the extra inning runner rule activated as they played 25 innings on Tuesday night.

Home) Chris Sale is 2-0 this season with 17.2 innings pitched, no runs allowed and just 5 hits and 3 walks with 13 strikeouts

Welcome to my Pirates franchise! I'll be using the universal DH but no extra inning rule. I'll be playing the first game of every series and simming the rest while doing all the critical situations. Updates will come after I finish three series. I'll also give a monthly breakdown after each month. Hope you guys enjoy, trying not to finish last in the MLB this year lol.
