Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
I play with default sliders. If, after I test some more games with Comeback ON, I keep winning like those two last games, I might be ready to boost the game again to All-Star.
Last year I played on All Star, Default Sliders but as I said, this year, after the CPU would hit any pitch: inside, outside, up, down, in the strike zone and out of it, I decided to lower it.Comment

Dave as far as Im concerned and probably alot of other people you are the man. You took the initial step to try this and I can not thank you enough as this game means alot to everyone on these boards. Regardless of whether or not SCEA confirms who cares. If they made a mistake they made a mistake they still made the best baseball game ever and Im sure you agree. This is why as much as the arguing and debating is annoying it's worth it to have a thread like this. Now whoever wants to disagree with your discovery... well lol they need to wake up or just keep playing if they don't see it.I can't speak for anybody else but I have heard a few people say that they have seen a difference on as far down as veteran. I'm not sure if it has more of an effect or less of an effect on Legend because it's the only level I play on. You have to just try and see for yourself how it plays for you.Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
I don't have any pics for proof of this, but I just won 4 games in a row by more than three runs after not having won any by more than two for 30 games, by turning the option ON.
There has been nothing resembling a comeback by the CPU...no 6-hit innings, no 5-run innings. If my pitcher is doing well, he continues to do well until getting fatigued. Then, the bullpen comes in and DOES THEIR JOB!
This is a game-saver for me!Comment

Hey thanx man. I really appreciate your appreciation.Dave as far as Im concerned and probably alot of other people you are the man. Here's some pics from my first shutout against the Blue Jays. 7.1 IP with Edwin Jackson, the Tigers #4 starter. With comeback ON. 2 hits in one game doesn't seem like too much of a "comeback" LOL
Just want to let people know that this doesn't necessarily prove anything. It's just nice to see this for the first time. I am happy that I got my first shutout. I am just sharing this.
This does not prove/disprove the theory.Last edited by davewins; 03-21-2009, 08:59 PM.Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
Im not sure what to make of this. I was playing the Pirates with the Cubs and I went up 3-0 in the Top of the first. (CB ON) They didn't come back and quickly score but they did seem a lot harder to strike out. After 5 innings i still didn't have a single K, it did seem they were making better contact. (With the option off i averaged between 6-12 K's per total game). I did manage to get 2 strike outs after the pirates put a few runs on the board. ( I still ended up winning 6-3)
With that being said this is my first game with this option on, and i was playing on All-Star and not Legend. But from my perspective they did seem to make better comtact when i had a lead. Im going to play a few more games before i make a judgment on this.Comment

LOL @ Dave I tried this over a week ago. And did not see much of a difference, but again commented how I was using the Reds exclusively.Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
just played 2 more games.....
in these games i played both had the same matchups both phils mets, both myers santana...
first game I lost 7-2 had 5 hits , 2 doubles an one inside the park HR.
the cpu had 11 hits
2-0 mets after 1
2-2 after 3
4-2 after 4
5-2 after 6
7-2 after 8
Next game I was one hit by Santana....(a double in the gap) lost the game 4-0 , but he walked like 5 guys so i had my chances.
the cpu had 9 hits
1-0 after 3
they added 3 insurance bot of 8
2 things to draw from these 2 games at least for me....
Firstly, before I turned comeback ON, I have lost by this margin but I have never been dominated in the hits column like the 2nd game. Yea i've had 3 hit losses, but I remember the cpu having a low total of hits as well like 5 or 6
Secondly, if this comeback mode was working, I would have gotten a boost in the later part of the innings right? In both games the cpu tacked on runs and even tacked on 3 in the 2nd game bot of 8.
Also, what I notice is, to make contact with the ball is now even more authentic. I believe now before we received boosts when we were down and penalized when we were up. That's why sometimes the result of the AB didn't match the PCI swing analysis.
i've played now 5 games on comeback ON.....and I'm sticking with this for the rest of the season.
Thanks to davewins......you have saved the game for me, I was so frustrated the beginning of this weekend by the unnatural feel of the game that I was seriously ready to sell it back to Gamestop.....Last edited by phillyfan23; 03-22-2009, 12:43 AM.Comment

Yep, I'm convinced. For the first time I actually felt like I had control of my pitches. Location actually seemed to depend on the meter, more so than before. Completely different game.
Thanks for the find!Comment
