Yesterday I tried this as well on Legend as always, I went into the eighth inning with a three to one lead and the computer did "comeback" on me, but it wasn't much of a lead and it was against my relievers. So I don't really know if it was the comeback code or if it was just me playing bad. I ended up losing 5-3. I'll try this out again today. Thanks. Later

I didn't even understand the joke, regardless, you are forgiven...I wish I never opened this thread though because the game is playing with my mind now with this new option. After 3 weeks of slider finetuning and then starting my dynasty, and now this...lol

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON

First of all, let me say I'm not very good at this game. I was pretty good at '08 but I have a sub .500 record on Veteran on '09.

I was suspicious of the cpu comeback ai before I found this thread. After reading on another site that the comeback switch might be backwards, I started to fool around with settings. Yesterday, with cpu comeback set to on for the first time, I won 3 out of 4 games. It wasn't really the wins that I was excited about, it was the feel of the games. They felt more like '08 to me. I thought I'd found the fix.

Then, I found this thread. After reading the whole thing last night, I was convinced that the comeback switch was backwards. So, I continue my franchise. I lose 4 straight and everything is back to feeling like '09 again. I can't hit, cpu gets hit after hit, hrs on perfect pitches, etc. So now I really don't know what to do.

Tonight, I check this thread again. There are a ton more posts with a lot of people convinced the comeback ai is reversed. I read all this and pay attention to how the guys who play on Legend describe how difficult it is. So, out of curiosity, I decide to play on Legend to see how bad I'll get smoked.

I take the Dodgers against the O's with comeback toggled off (default). Billingsley vs Guthrie. I'm not really trying to win because I figure there is no chance of that happening. I basically swing at everything. Billingsley goes 8 with 3 hits, 1 ER. I'm basically amazed at this. After 7, my offense has 1 hit (with Billingsley no less), 1 run (which came on a hit batsmen, wild pitch, groundout to 1B, groundout to SS sequence that totally dumbfounded me), and a ton of strikeouts.

Botttom of the 8th tied 1 to 1. I get a couple of singles and the O's bring in their closer. I single my way into bases loaded, 1 out. Another hard hit single with Furcal scores one. Kemp K's swinging. 2 outs. Manny steps in. 1st pitch drills him in the back, walking in another run. Next batter flies out, ending the 8th.

Top of the 9th. I bring in Broxton. Groundout, K swinging, K looking to end it. Easy as can be.

I have no business playing on Legend much less winning. WTF?

And yes, I double and triple checked to make sure I was on Legend.

I'm really confused now so I decide to play with the same teams on Rookie. Only difference is this time I play in Baltimore.

This time I lose 8 to 5. O's hit 3 hrs and a ton of singles and a few doubles. Nothing I tried worked against them. I never got Brian Roberts out once. No matter how I pitched him, he was getting hits.

So, I don't know what's going on. I won with relative ease without really trying on Legend, then turn around and lose on Rookie. There is something going on with this game under the hood. I don't know anything about programming but I played '08 enough to know that this shouldn't happen.

I just deleted everything from '09 off of my PS3 and reinstalled it. I'll let you know what happens next. If anyone has any explanations or suggestions, I'm all ears.

Thanks for reading this entirely too long post.

Someone on OS posted they think the game gets stuck on Legend, given when he went to play a different level, it seemed no different than the Legend level he was playing previously. Maybe it gets stuck on any level for a game or two after you switch levels, who knows?

well just played with computer comeback on. Allstar level, up 9-5 brought in my closer Valverde bottom of the 9th they tied it up, lol. 10th I take a one run lead. I thought well they cheese ill bring in oswalt for save lol!!! They tie it up with hits and errors bases loaded they hit a grand slam. LOL computer scores 9 runs in its last 2 at bats. So who knows I dont think it matters what you play on or off. This game playing with it on it definately was!!

I am not seeing that at all, ever since I turned comeback on, Soriono(spelling) for the Yanks now has 4 saves. Before when it was turned of he had blown 10 saves in a row, ridiculous. This has saved the game for me, thanks again Dave, i am actually having fun with this game now. I was going to lay out of church today just to play it now. (just joking).

Absolutley man. I am very happy that you are seeing the same thing as me.

All I know is maybe in fact there are 2 discs because there is absolutley no doubt in my mind anybody (dev's included) can convice me otherwise on this issue. I have played 100+ games with this set to OFF compared to about 8 ON and ALL 8 GAMES ON felt different. I am not talking about "well maybe it's a little different". No, I am talking about full blown WOW, this game plays different. In particular the CPU batter's and how effective they are. I am not dilusional. I am not insane. I am a credible person. Just like the people that might not be seeing the same thing as me. Maybe, perhaps (highly doubt) there could be other copies that are different. I think that's pretty much 99.9% impossible but I'm willing to remain open minded and RESPECT everybody's views on this.

I have played 8 games and in those 8 games I have pitched a shutout (never seen in my previous 100+ games), gave up 2 hits with my #4 starter Edwin Jackson (never got past the 6th inning with a #4 and also never gave up less them 5 hits in an entire game), I won by 8 my first game and 7 my second (never won by more then 4 in my previous 100+ games), struck out a total of 8 in one game (i'm not sure on #'s on this because I never kept track but I can assure you that it wasn't close to 8 might have been around 5). I know what I see when I turn this on. I am not delusional, I am not insane. If other people aren't seeing the same thing then all I can say is keep trying (if you were having a problem with it set to OFF) or go back to playing it with it set to OFF. Ultimatley that's all that matters. Not who is right or who is wrong. It's what is good for you. Obviously a lot of people are seeing that this game does play different with it set to ON and some are saying that it saved the game for them.

Let me tell you something about me. I was not even having problems with this that severely prior to turning it ON. I had a winning record in my season. All I was seeing is a ridiculous amount of close games. I felt like the CPU did get on some serious momentum with hit after hit after hit after hit which was annoying but I blamed myself for bad pitches and just figured that this is what Legend was all about. This is what everybody was talking about. Then I saw people talking more about comeback so I looked into it. I said you know what, maybe it IS a possibility. What I want to do is "disprove" this IN MY HEAD and play a game with this option set to ON. Just to see if it plays exactly the same, or what I was expecting MUCH harder. It was the exact opposite and it played MUCH easier. I never struck out so many CPU batters and everything felt organic. I am not seeing things, I am not making this up. I am a perfectly sane individual that could just be enjoying the game myself but instead am looking to help people with this thread. I am no genius. Anybody could of done this. I just happened to do it. It's simply an option.

I will just say again that this can never be proven. I am convinced that it's reversed and I have that right. I also know that people are convinced that it's not reversed and they have that right. So I do apologize if I became a little too defensive with anybody here. I was just trying to honestly see their point because I thought they were trying to "prove" something. The only way we can "prove" anything is to ourselves. We can both not convince the other side on this subject. We can only convince ourselves and prove it to ourselves by feeling it in the game. We can not come to a resting conclusion as a community on this issue.

This is not directed at you Sooner. This is just me rambling. The longer everybody remains open minded and respects others views the more we will get out of these experiments.

Everybody enjoy the game with this option ON or this option OFF. Whatever suits you best. Enjoy this game because it IS the best baseball game ever and in my eyes it's the best sports game EVER.

I was not joking I simply made a typo. An x rated typo to boot. Let's put it this way. I wasn't concentrating and by accident the last 4 letters of your name turned into what you eat on your birthday.

I guess in my brain that's the only word I know that starts with Bukk so by accident it slipped in. LOL.

Well comeback on doesnt work for me thats a fact!! I just had an 8-1 lead on legend going into the 7th i give up a 3 run hr. In the the 8th another 3 run hr. So 8-7 going to top of 9th leadoff hitter whack!! ANOTHER HR now I'm just laughing then 3, 2 out hits they take lead but i win it in extras as i tie it in bottom 9th. What a joke of a game. I like playing on legend but thats horrid. As soon as I got a 7 run 6th to go up 8-1 i cant get an out to save my life hardly. Comeback on is definately on vs computer 4 me. I never really had this trouble before.

Im not in a season im just doing exhibition games. I'm just trying to figure out best level before I start 1. Allstar is just too boring compared to legend but those back to back comebacks were just insane that I just played.
