I wasn't sure how good the Red Sox bullpen was, but they got two very solid arms in Villenueva and Dotel. Dotel, for some reason, wasn't giving any innings in the simmed spring either but my bullpen was solid (with the exception of Rauch) through the spring that I figured I could let him go. Salty is still a high risk type guy, so I figured the Red Sox could go out and sign someone or just use Varitek. I'll update with what they did after this (maybe a Varitek/Molina combo).

I know the Pirates were looking to unload Doumit in real life (Synder is their starting C and Overbay at 1st) .. so I actually probably gave them a little more value than they'd get in real life considering Doumit's contract.

I'm definitely not a fan of unrealistic trades. Dotel could of got me Markakis OR Jayson Werth .. but how realistic is that? lol.
The Sox have a deep pen, but I think that given their offense, Molina actually might be a great starter for them (they aren't lacking for runs) - and then they have two very strong RPs - who are going to fill out a bullpen that already boasts Papelbon (who I'm not certain will remain their closer), Bard (outstanding) and Jenks.

And yes, considering the Pirates lack SP, and were looking to offload Doumit, that was a good trade. I would have thrown in another, low potential (C), pitcher, but that's just me. Overall, I think they were fair AND improved your team, which is a rare thing when people post about the trades they are looking to make.

Are there any tips that is available for new franchisees like myself? I'm using the New York Yankees, and would like to make this as realistic as possible. Right now, i'm satisfied with Gardner, Granderson, and Swisher in the outfield, even though my outfield depth is thin in the minors. I'm looking for middle relief help right now as I would rather have Brackman, Betances, and Banuelos spend the year in the minors.

What aren't you satisfied with in terms of the Yankees bullpen? With Rivera-Soriano-Chamberlain-Robertson-Feliciano... I mean, seriously, I feel like of everything, you don't need help in the bullpen... at all...

This!!!

These are the guys that are going to win me the division!

This bullpen is the best they've had in a while, and in my opinion, is the deepest in the AL East.

Hello all,

Is there anyway to avoid CPU lineups from changing after Spring Training in Franchise and Season modes? I ask this because the new OS Full Minor Rosters are so accurate, and after the Spring Training in these modes, the lineups become completely altered for every team. Looking for help!

Page one of the OS full minors thread.

It's a bit lengthy, so you should read his steps.

Starting up a franchise with the lovely Pittsburgh Pirates. Controlling all 30 teams, don't trust the CPU AI. Will give updates after each series.

I will be starting my A's franchise Tomorrow on schedule with the real teams. I downloaded Knights roster this morning and from what i can see the 25 man roster at least for what i can see is not much different than what the default game or the release day roster had at least is what i meant.

Must have been nice for Knight and co. that there was at least one team out there they didn't have too much with in the final few hours of this project.

2011 the year of the A's staying healthy and a playoff birth!!!

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

Finished my 1st season and off-season with the Cubs. Finished 75-87 and finished 4th in the division. I unloaded my team before the trade deadline, trading Ramirez, Soriano, Dempster, Zambrano, and Garza to contenders for a ton of prospects and young MLB ready guys. I ended up getting Aroldis Chapman, Chris Sale, Mike Leake, Gio Gonzalez, Gordon Beckham and some young A and B potential minor leaguers. So my roster was revamped before the end of the season.

In the offseason I tried to get Pujols (offered 5 year 110 million) but he signed with the Yankees (4 year 73 million). So I resigned Pena, who had a pretty good year (.260 28 HRs 80ish RBIs). I also signed Pablo Sandoval to a 3 year deal to add some power to my lineup (he hit .280 with 25+ HRs the previous season). Going into 2012 I have exactly 2 guys over 30 years old on my MLB roster (Pena, and a reliever). It's gonna be a lot of fun trying to win and keep this team together for a few years. Since I only play 1 out of every 6 games it might be a struggle this year, but hopefully the team will surprise the league this year and be a true contender next season.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

So i download the osfm roster and started a pirates franchise. I'm just in spring training but OMG their pitchers are bad. The best so far and the only with a sub 5.00 era, is James Mcdonald with a 1.35 era.

I'm going to give a chance to the young prospect Jameson Taillon, to see if he can do better. I tried to trade for Kevin Millwood but the Yankees rejected, so i signed Ben Sheets for 1 year and 6 million. I know it's a lot of money but i needed to improve that pitching rotation.

Offensively the team is doing well. That's a surprise. McCutchen is the leader again. Pedro Ciriaco will be my starting SS, he's hitting 250,3hr, 9rbi and 3 stolen base. It's good because my other SS was struggling with a average lower than .100.

I'm going to sim the rest of the spring training and play the real season, hope i can stop that 18 years losing streak...little bit hopeless but lol :P

Series Recap

Good to see a 2-1 series over the Cubs, James McDonald's control was not up to par, the Cubs finally got to him in the 6th inning. The offense has been hitting the ball well, but scoring runs has been a problem, we've left 11 on base through the series. Second base Neil Walker has been a bright spot in the line up hitting .417 with 2 doubles. Evan Meeks has 2 scoreless innings and picked up 2 holds. The Pirates start a 3 game series with the 2-1 St. Louis Cardinals.

Update to my Franchise:

I've traded for Zach Duke of the Diamondbacks. I figured that I would need another solid lefty to face off against teams like the Twins and the BoSox. I haven't pitched with him yet, but he's slated to start in Boston.

My team record is 4-1, good for first in the AL East, with CC Sabathia in charge for the opening day loss.

I'm satisified with my stats so far.

I'm hitting .282 as a team with a 3.91 ERA

Jorge Posada is leading the way with 3 HR and 7 RBI's so far in the season.

I've had a couple of close games, but the last one was great.

I was playing the Twins, tie game going into the top of the 8th. I retired the first two batters using Joba Chamberlain, mind you he has a 54.00 ERA to start the season. Gardenhire decided it would be a good idea to pinch hit and use Jim Thome. After a blown strike 3 call, i'm forced to put a fastball in the zone. The very next pitch, a 3-2 pitch, Thome gives the bleacher creatures a souvenir, a mammoth shot into the bleachers.

The very next inning, Kubel takes Pedro Feliciano deep. I had no idea how he reached the pitch, it was up at his chin!

On to the bottom of the ninth, there's 1 out, and Nick Swisher is at the plate, and goes deep to right for the homerun, a paint scraper. The next batter up, Posada, and he immediately followed suit with a home run in the exact same place as Swisher. I jump for joy, knowing I made a comeback.

In the 11th inning, Teixeira takes Jose Mijares deep to right for the walk off home run, similar to Game 2 of the 2009 ALDS.

I'll have a video up, if I learn how to do it in time.

I have a question regarding the Single-A teams. I know that we don't actually play games with those teams, but do the players on those teams improve at all? Or should I only store my garbage prospects on that team?

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread

I have played 09 for a while and just recently purchased 11. I basically am only a franchise or rtts player and for franchise tend to sim the vast majority of games. I noticed with 09 that with players under 3 service years that I could get them to sign 10 year contracts provided the offer was for at least 80% of their prior salary. It did seem like it was cheezy so I guess I understand why that doesnt work now with 11. My question is now though in my first offseason I have a bunch of guys who have renewable contracts and I am trying to offer them 7-10 year length contracts but I am at least offering them ones that show them at least 75% interested in it. They are going the whole offseason without signing it and are becoming free agents in spring thus prompting me to reload a saved game and redo the offseason and even with increased offers I am getting the same results.

Is this as intended or is this a broken issue that is getting ***ed, or is there some other workaround that I am missing. As of right now I am putting playing on hiatus because this frankly is a franchise breaking issue, at least to me it is.
