Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
Ughhh it seems I can hit with my best hitters, Infante and Coghlan hitting lows .100s, Hanley .233, and Logan Morrison .212 wtf and lead the league in Ks with 128.
I did however turn hitting up from vbeteran to all star, but I may consider turning pitch speed a notch or 2Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
After a lackluster 1-4 start my A's have now won 5 in a row to improve our record to 6-4. Willingham, Matsui, Kouzmanoff and Pennington have all been on fire for us offensively. Willingham was the league leader in both HR's (4) and RBIs (11) through 8 games but, hasn't had either one in the last two so he's no longer the leader. Kouz has found a home at the 5th spot in the order and is batting a impressive .425, which is 4th in the AL. On the flip side, Ellis, Suzuki and Barton have all gotten off to slow starts (all batting under .200). We know that we have a long season ahead and we fully expect those guys to turn in around. As a team we're batting a solid .288 which is good enough for 2nd in all of baseball.
Our pitching led by Trevor Cahill has also been solid. Our team ERA is 3.41 which is good enough for 9th overall and 3rd in the AL. Both Cahill and Gio Gonzales have ERAs under 3. Cahill has the third most K's of any pitcher with 17. Brandon McCarthy has had strong performances in his first two outings, as well, posting an ERA of 3.86. Anderson and Braden have both had sub-par performances and each have ERA's over 5. If those two can put it together we may easily have the best all around starting staff in the AL West. And speaking of best all around.... Our bullpen may be one of the best in baseball. Especially, now that Andrew Baily has returned from injury. As of right now, Fuentes does have one blown save but, other than that they have been spectacular night in and night out. In a total of 25.2 inning the staff has only combined for 5 total runs.
Right now we're tied with Seattle for the AL West lead and Texas is a half game behind us but, really it's too early to be worried about the standings at this point in the season. My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
The Rockies took 2 of 3 from the D-Backs, with a GREAT offensive game, and a HORRIBLE pitching game to end the series. There were 13 total home runs in the ball game on both sides (6 for me, 7 for Arizona). I believe this was because I had pitching on Hall Of Fame for a majority of the game to try it out. But after that I moved it back to All-Star for the opening of the 2 game series at home against the Dodgers...
Game 1 (Dodgers) - A pitcher's duel, Rockies lose 2-1.
Pros - Hammel pitched a heck of a game, had 0 ER. The youngster impressed me and hopefully there is more where that came from.
The Bullpen - after a terrible first series, the bullpen bounced back to pitch a few innings of scoreless baseball.
Carlos Gonzalez - Finally broke the dry spout and picked up his second (very much needed) hit of the year. He's like 2 for 12 now. Hopefully he turns it around.
Dexter Fowler - picks up 3rd triple of the young season
Cons -
Only produced 4 hits.
Only scored 1 run.
Couldn't get Hammel the much earned W.
Struck out more than I would have liked too (6 or 7 times)
Didn't work too many counts.
Colorado Rockies Quest to 162....
(2-2)
Will close the series against the Dodgers tomorrow, then will head out to Pittsburgh for a four game series against my boys....the Bucs....Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
So just started my White Sox franchise.
And hope to play all 162 games (and even more) like I did last year with the D'backs.
So far, I'm just 1-1.
Won first game 6-5 with a stellar performance from my 'pen during the last 3.2 innings. (did not allow a run with 3 bases loaded situation!)
And lost 2nd game 3-4 with a misread routine flyball by Juan Pierre costing me 2 run in the 8th.
Later in the season, I'm pretty sure I'll trade Peavy.
I've never pitched well with him so I'm thinking about a replacement.
I don't mind trading him even in the division because I always hit him hard.
So I will tell you what I do in the future
PS: As always I'm the strike out king (AS zone hitting, HOF meter pitching, button fielding) I have my fair amount of hit, walks but I average 10 K's a game (last year with the D'backs I ended up dead last with more than 1500 k's...)Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
I just started my Reds franchise with the latest SCEA update. I plan on doing one with the fake minor league players and 1 with the OSFM rosters once they get all the opening day versions done. I am 0-3 in spring training right now. Really struggling with the bats at the moment. I love the analog controls but man it is tough.Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
In my Red Sox franchise, currently stand at 21-10 and am up 2 games on both the Rays and Yanks. My team is on fire right now hitting at a cool .299 BA for the team. Carl Crawford continues to be my catalyst. He has hit in 23 games in a row and has a .375 BA. Agon has 8 homers, Ortiz has 6. Pedroia is hitting at a .320 clip. Crawford leads the league by far with 25 SB's. the closest guy to him is Pierre with 12....lol. Dice-K has a surprising 5 wins with a .225 ERA to lead the team. finishing up my series with the Angels now and then we will be hosting the Twins to finish up our homestand.Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
Can one of you franchise guys steer me towards some help with franchise mode? Specifically how best to handle scouting the incoming guys for the amateur draft? I feel like I must be missing something, because I always end up having to make picks blindly, not knowing what guys' potential is supposed to be. I know my guys are scouting SOME players, but I feel like they're not scouting the entire pool of players. I've tried leaving the scouts to do their own thing. I've tried instructing them each to focus on the positions they specialize in. I've tried instructing them to focus on my positions of need. I feel like I've tried plenty of things, and all the drafts I've had (in this year or any other year's Show) end the same way... with me blindly picking a bunch of awful, useless players with low potential ratings. Because the scouting reports aren't filled in thoroughly enough to let me know what guy's potential is.
Is this normal, or am I neglecting to do something to instruct my scouts? Do I have to manually go through and tell them 1-by-1 to scout every single player?
By the way, I apologize if this isn't the correct place to ask this. Or if it's been answered somewhere else. On a board full of sports games, it's impossible to find the answer I'm looking for using the search tools when I'm asking about something as generic as "scouting." I got back a million search results, and nothing seemed relevant to my actual question. I figured I could ask here since this is where a bunch of franchise players are.Comment

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
Played a bit more last night, still STRUGGLING! It is almost getting frustrating to the point where I'm about to make some trades. I'm sitting at 17-23 but only 8 games back of the division so I'm not jumping off any bridges....yet. Jimmy Rollins (leads team in HR and RBIs) and Polanco (.330+ BA) have been great this season so far while Dom Brown and Victorino are having really bad seasons (below .200 BA). The Cardinals put Pujols on the trade block but can he play OF?? haha! I'm tempted but not going to go crazy. Madson has good as the closer so I'm definitely moving Lidge when he comes back from injury (if anyone will take him). Next up is Halladay vs. the Cardinals.PSN & Xbox Gamertag - TheCrenshaw

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
The beat goes on for the Yankees as they beat the Twins again in game 3 of their 4 game set at the stadium. It was CC vs Liriano. CC gave up a run in the 2nd inning on a RBI single from Kubel. CC was shaky in the first 4 innings. Liriano was lights out giving up only 2 hits in the first 4 inning. Go to the bottom of the 5th and this inning is where Liriano lost it. Russell Martin singles with one out. Gradner lays down a perfect bunt. Runners on 1st and second now. Jeter then hits a sharp single to right. Bases are loaded for Tex. Liriano gets ahead of Tex and has him in a 0-2 hole. Tex battles a few tough pitches and then singles to right scoring Martin. Then Arod comes up and on a 0-1 pitch, hammers Liriano's slider to the Left field seats for a Grand Slam. I ended up winning the game 5-3 and Mo got his 2nd save of the season.
Im currently 6-0 now to start the season. Hoping to stay hot while I head into Boston for a weekend series,PSN: ckarlic

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
4-6 After 10 games. Beat the Yankees though to open up the series. I don't know what it is, but the past 3 games (MLB 09, 10, 11) the first time I face CC Sabathia I can jump all over him. The next time I face him though he will shut me down but for whatever reason I can handle him pretty good first time I see him.
My pitching is getting better, still have given up 18 homeruns in 10 games, and my bullpen needs to get it together. I know that in close games I want it to be Johnson, in the 7th, Uehara in the 8th and Gregg in the 9th. Problem, like in the Yankee game when I want to save Uehara and go with someone else Gonzalez in this case, he almost give the game away.
It's fun though. I need to get Vlad, and Jones going. Jones has been hitting the ball hard though. In todays game he hit the ball hard each time, just at someone so he may be about to bust out. Vlad had a clutch double with 2 outs in a 1-2 count so that is a positive there.

Re: MLB 11 The Show "Franchise/Season" Progress Thread
Started a new franchise with the Pirates on experienced using the OSFM roster. I decided to make a new one to try and take advantage of some tips I saw in another thread about franchise budget. Well, first thing I did was trade Andrew McCutchen for Arnoldis Chapman and their starting CF. I forgot I had waivers on auto, so the CF got put on waivers, and I changed it back to manual, but it wasn't even worth it to start the franchise again. Then, I traded Garrett Jones and a few of my best pitching prospects for Bryce Harper. Then, towards the deadline, the Red Sox offered me Bobby Jenks, Clay Bucholtz, and David Ortiz for Evan Meeks and some good prospects (I added in the prospects to make it less unrealistic). Then, since Bucholtz basically died when he got traded to me, the Tigers offered me Jacob Turner for Clay, and I accepted. Then, I drafted this solid CP named James Bailey who can throw 101 MPH! Over the season, those budget tips definitely worked, as I ended up not only re-signing all of my star players (which I couldn't do before), but I also got Kerry Wood, Aaron Hill, and Brandon Webb! With all the new additions, my batting is still like 16th, but my pitching is 1st, and I'm 3rd overall! Budget makes a HUGE difference, as I can now compete with the Red Sox and Yankees.Comment
