I typically use a top rated player (e.g. Braun, Longoria, etc.) and play against a #5 starter, then a #2, then #1. Maybe 2 sessions each. Then I reverse the order, a average player against a #1, the #2, and then #5 starter.

However, this is why I'm stuck between HUM contact 3 or 4. Once you factor in pitch confidence in a live game (more-so for poor versus high), contact 4 becomes a little too high, and 3 seems more realistic.

I think I'll release my set mentioning if you play with Pitch confidence ON, go 3, OFF, 4. Or not. Still testing.
I actually love the timing challenge. Haven't done it in a while. Maybe this is NOT a coincidence. 60 combined misses and fouls has to point directly to own personal timing. I could probably use a little refresher.

It's been at least a year or two since I've used Guess Pitch, but when I did, it didn't take long before it was hurting my approach at the plate. Maybe approach isn't the right word, but it definitely affected my pitch recognition skills in a negative way. Though fwiw, I probably wasn't being very smart with the way I was using GP..

I dunno man, bumping fouls up 1 may be your best bet if you're looking for a subtle change. Fouls at 6 worked great for me last year. It helped bring my K's down closer to a more realistic rate, and it also helped my BBs... though you probably don't need much help with the later. It also has a slightly negative impact on batting average, as more foul balls lead to more foul ball outs.
      See bold.

That's the kicker! My BB are the real deal. I just walked 6 times in a game last night, making that 24 over my last 6 games. Identifying balls are not really the problem. It's identifying strikes, I think.

My chased per game are at 15. Is that realistic? I'd have to assume so.

Still playing his HOF set from last year. My only complaint with it is cpu contact @ 5. Where did you put the cpu contact? Did you make any changes to the HOF set last year?

          Ugh...

Don't even mention his slider set last year. We suspected something "odd" was going on while adjusting the CPU sliders while pitching on HOF last year.

Let's just say contact needed to stay at 5. I don't even want to think about opening that can of worms again.

Here's my issue. I have a wife and 3 kids and love baseball and love the show!. By the time rosters and sliders get completed its typically June, July etc. I don't have enough time to play a season that quick. So I always get the latest version of the show at xmas. So, this past X-mas I received 2010. Downloaded full minors, downloaded all the music and now am ready to play my season. Weird huh? Well it works for me. I can't decide between Corey's sliders from last year, Psycho's from last year or TNKDGM's from last year. I think Corey's plays the best but I can't get the cpu's offense right. Everything else bout that set I love. So quickly, and I won't clutter this post with this topic again...how do I fix it with HOF hit and pitch? PM me if you have to but my mlb the show 2010 life depends on it!

Better order 2011, Rosters should be done this weekend...

Man, I kind of gave up on the 2010 CPU hitting / HUM pitching...pretty aggravating!

Wish I could help you mate.

                Cheers.

It's not worth re-treading our conspiracy theories again.

Just for experiments sake I made the following changes. I bumped solid hits back up to 4, which is what you guys have for the default set. I definitely saw a rise in extra base hits.

                          Human Foul Frequency - 6 (+1)
                          Human Pitcher Control - 3 (-1)
                          Human Pitcher Consist. - 1 (-2)
                          Pitch Speed - 2 (-3)
                          Fielding Errors - 10 (+1)
                          Throwing Errors - 8 (+2)
                          Fielder Reaction - 7 (+2)
                          Fielder Speed - 2 (-2)

I really exposed Seth Smith out there in RF. He misplayed a couple of balls, including a sharp line drive that he took a bad angle on, resulting in a Darwin Barney inside the park HR. It was nice to see some bad plays in the OF (from both teams, I took a good angle with Soriano on a deep drive and the animation slowed him down and the ball went over his head). Carlos Gomez played every ball to LF well, so it was nice to see some disparity between the fielders.

I lost Max Ramirez for 2-3 months, following both Koyie Hill and Geo Soto's trips to the DL. So I'm extremely thin at C. AH! Max turned on a fastball for a HR too, so I was happy with his first day at the Major League level. Not too sure who I'm going to bring up/sign to spell Wellington behind the plate. Game felt good. Wells pitched great until the wheels fell off in the 5th for a bit. He got back on track and was spelled with 2 outs in the 6th just because I felt like he was getting a bit tired and I didn't want to regret leaving him in too long.

How are your doubles and home runs lately. It looks like we've possibly switched places (I remember you having this problem earlier on). Have they mellowed out?

                              Ya, I'm on analog hitting.

Ran into a hot pitcher in Barry Enright in this one. Coming into the game with a spotless 3-0 record. He pitched as well as you could while taking a loss, giving up 1 unearned run on 2 hits through 7 ip.

A pitchers duel between two #5 starters, with the 1 run by the Cubs coming in lieu of 2 Diamondback errors in the 8th innning.

How are your doubles and home runs lately. It looks like we've possibly switched places (I remember you having this problem earlier on). Have they mellowed out?
Hmm.. I just checked my numbers, and through 21 games I have an almost perfect 1:1 ratio for HRs and 2Bs. The doubles have definitely been catching up a little over the last 11 or 12 games(around the time I dropped power to 4), but it's still worrisome.

What do you think would be the best way to attack this particular issue? I think power may need to come down another click, but I'm not sure about solid hits, as my batting averages have been good. And for that matter, everything except HR's has been just about perfect. Personally, that's really the only sticking point with me this year.

Maybe solid hits back at default, and power down to 3, or even 2. Though if I moved solid hits back to default, contact will probably have to come down a click.. and then fouls may have to come up... Ugh. What do you think?
