Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 21 Sliders

I dove headlong into a franchise last night with the Royals. We lost Michael Taylor in spring training to an injury (he'll be out 2-3 months); meaning rookie Kyle Isbel will be our starting CF.

Played the first two games of the regular season last night vs the lowly Rangers. Game 1 was a 7-3 loss as the Rangers blasted our bullpen late in the game. Nate Lowe terrorized our pitching with a HR and a couple of 2Bs. Isbel had 4 hits in the game and Carlos Santana hit a laser beam HR in the loss.

Game 2 was a 2-0 win in a cold, rainy day. Mondesi got our scoring underway in the bottom of the first with an inside-the-park HR. Definitely saw some blasts by the Rangers that would've gone out in July/August but died on the warning track.

We'll finish game 3 of the series before facing a solid Indians team in the next series.

    (Solid hits at 4 FYI)
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

Re: JoshC1977's "Maximize Player Ratings" MLB 21 Sliders

I played 8 games with the exact sliders using the Brewers except for pitch speeds at 6 and solid hits for both at 5. I know it is a small sample size. But wondering if this could be fixed with solid hits at 4.

Both me and the CPU get mostly singles. The singles have been mixed with either ground balls through holes, little flares over the SS or 2B and bloopers. The extra bases that I have seen were a couple of line drives in the gaps and then some fly balls that seem like they carry and go over the glove of a running outfielder that looked like they’d be caught. They had a lot of hang time.

Home runs seem good. In 8 games, I’ve hit 6 and they hit 7. So it is nice to see those numbers.

I’m really struggling at the plate. I think the pitch speed is too slow cause I’m way early on offspeed and get a lot of ground outs to 1B with left handed hitters. But then I go up to 7 and it seems like I’m late. I just can’t stay back on the pitches at 6/6. So I might just move up to 7.

I just don’t know if I should keep going with solid hits at 5 or if I would get more variety with extra base hits at 4.

Raise your pitch speeds my man. 6 is way too slow for me and I was ahead on everything. 8 has been great

Solid hits on 4 is the way to go. And pitch speed all determines how quick your eyes and hands are lol.

I think I’m just in a slump at the plate. I’m ahead of breaking balls and I can’t barrel up a fastball. I am now playing with speeds at 7/7. I put feedback on a couple of times and it says I’m good timing the fastball but I just pop them up. I know I just have to be more patient. Then I let one go right down the middle lol

I can tell you that slumps at the plate are definitely real in this game. One stretch you’re getting 10+ hits a game, the next you’re striking out 10+ times a game..Frustrating, but that’s baseball!

Gonna give these a shot this year. Finding a new slider set since A&S isn't doing 21 this year. Also I follow your madden sliders too.

Yeah..it is great. I went several games and couldn't make solid contact and was striking out like crazy. Then suddenly broke out with multi HR and hit game. Scored 7 runs.

Also..the skill of the pitcher plays much bigger role to me this year. Try hitting Bieber on HOF lol.

I got tickets to go see the Rays vs Mets game in Tampa on the 15th. Then the following weekend I get to go see the Braves in Atlanta yay! Had no one else to share that with who actuallt cares so wanted to share with yall.

As for the actual sliders and game play. So far I've played 12 games with the sliders and idk if it's just me but I feel like outfielders can track down everything this year. Even have guys with like 30 speed in the outfield hawking the ball down like they are Willie Mays

Think I'm gonna run a Tampa franchise this year as well to go along with my Braves. Has anyone ran with 2 teams in the same franchise before and how did you handle doing so? Or would I be better off just running two different franchises?

I think it’s always more fun to run two different franchises. If not, doing two on one franchise, one of the teams always gets neglected after a few weeks into the season.

I do two on one every year. I always play with my Yanks in AL and I rotate a team from NL division each year. Last year it was the Brewers. This year its the Marlins. Basically just randomly choose team from NL.

It is a lot of fun playing with both teams. Frankly, as much as I love playing with my Yanks, 162 straight games with them is a lot in a row. So playing with the NL team breaks it up and allows me to play in NL ballparks.

I like to play two on one because I like to see how both teams are doing within the same Franchise. Plus..it is much easier and faster to manage everything.

I believe the Yankees play the Marlins this year in interleague play...so do you play as the Yankees against them?

It would be fun to put both of your teams in the world series.

Fielding and reaction ratings are more crucial than just the speed. If a slower fielder takes a really good route to the ball, they can make plays. If you use weaker OFs (defensive ratings), they will often take poor routes and mis-play the ball.

I have yet to see a defensive play that made me really question the fielding sliders; we went down that slippery slope last year and it just lead to balls moving too fast (which amped-up offensive stats something fierce).
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

Just wanted to say I've played 7 games of my Marlins franchise so far (really small sample size I know) with pitch speeds at 10/10 and solid hits at 4 and I'm have a blast.
