Timing... Yesterday I hit a breaking ball for a homer to opposite field by a 48 rated power hitter. It's the best feeling in this game when you do that.

I'd suggest playing the batting games and work on timing and pitch recognition.

Yeah, that's probably what I need to do. It hadn't occurred to me to do the batting drills for practice.

I did smash a homer with Victorino off Craig Kimbrel because I caught the hanging slider right when it broke. It was a nice feeling to drill one with a low-power guy.

Are you using the left stick at all when you hit?

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

Have been tryin these sliders out in my Tigers franchise, and while ive had 5 or 6 great games, there have been a couple of things I was concerned about. Obviously my sample size is very small, so maybe these will even out as the season progresses.

First off, the games have all been very low scoring, with the most combined runs in one game being 9 like 12 games into a season. I realize this balances out eventually, hope it doesnt mean i just suck in situational hitting.

Secondly, I only seem to be able to hit singles. In the last four or five games I have had one home run, three doubles, and about 9 million singles. I know this is a problem thats been around in baseball games for who knows how long. This may even out as well, but I mention it because the CPU also averages like 3 extra base hits and 10 singles in a game.

Thats really all my complaints about the set, I feel like it plays well and realistically and that it is going to kinda rejuvenate my franchise. These problems may even out, or it just could be because im not as skilled or patient at hitting in this game as I should be anyway.

This is me vs. Juan frickin Uribe. I hate that guy. He hit 4 homers against me in a 3 game series. I actually chose to walk him to load the bases. One of them he golfed a fastball about 3 inches off the ground for a 397 foot opposite field bomb, I had to replay it several times because I could not believe that he smoked it the way he did. Grrr.

Yeah, I'm kind of in a power outage myself--the doubles are coming at a realistic clip, but I recently went through a stretch of 7 games without a single HR from anybody on my team. Through 15 games, Pujols only has 1 and Holliday has yet to go yard too. I'm confident that those will come though, because the doubles are there at least. I did bump up AI Pitch Success though to 70 to see if there's any effect on the rest of the CPU teams throughout the league.

New rosters are up in the roster thread.

My best file yet. EVERY team has tons of players re-rated. Plays great with these sliders. I have provided the best and most accurate files on 2K Share (download file provided for all offline users as well) and has more than the top 150+ prospects!

I don't get it... what's the difference between rosters users have made, and the ones from 2K? Do you guys give the players accurate ratings based on real life.... or what?

This happens to me online a ton. I have lost many games because of people hitting low and away FB/CH pitches that they have to reach their entire body out just to hit the ball with the tip of the bat and it goes over the opposite field wall. Its damn annoying. The swing itself doesnt look realistic at all either its almost like this one handed golf club swing.

My working file was one that was a merger of LTrain8's minor league players and then working on it from the MLB angle. I had touched very few ratings since that file was developed on March 31st. I do NOT like to work on ratings changes for a couple months (massively) because guys take some time to shake out. This was my first overhaul of that working file.

For example: Adam Dunn, in the original March 31st file, was rated an overall of somewhere around 90. Currently he is batting .179 with 7 homers. That's nowhere near a rating that high. I kept his power numbers up because (again - using projections) he'll probably hit around 25 by the end of the season. But I really doubt his average will get higher than .220 (if he's lucky). I've given him a 74 rating. That's one example of things that needed fixed on my file.

I just played tonight's Reds (me) at Orioles (cpu) matchup. Arroyo vs. Matusz. I won 7-4 in 10 innings. I trailed 2-0 after the 1st but pecked away for a run in the 4th and then tied it at 2 with a run in the 6th. I made a mistake pitch to Vladdy for a homer to deep left and trailed 3-2. I scored on a CLOSE play at the plate to tie it at 3 in the 7th. Bases were loaded with nobody out for Baltimore. I brought in Chapman (just recalled today - and now rated a 76 with a higher walk attribute) and he struck out a guy and then got an inning ending double play. I then scored 4 runs in the top of the 10th on 7 hits, 3 of which were doubles. The Oriole bullpen stinks and I got to Gonzalez. I gave up a leadoff triple in the 10th, but then got 2 groundouts and a strikeout to end the game.

I used my new rosters and these sliders and it was a very, very fun game!

I believe you have to use 2k's roster for the MLB Today games.

What I do is pull up today's schedule and pitching matchups online and go by what happens in real life. 2K's rosters are always outdated. Using mine, you'll have the correct players (my guess is they still don't have d'Arnaud (Pitt) or Perez (PHI) on their rosters yet.

I was going crazy the first two or three weeks of my franchise when I only had one homerun and a .232 average with Adriane Gonzalez. Now I am in the 2nd week of May and he has 11 homeruns with 32 RBI and a .368 average. I also did not have any homeruns with Pedroia and thought that I wouldn't hit any with low power guys. He now has 5 (hit 4 in a series against the Yanks). I love these sliders because the hitters will go through normal hot and cold streaks.
