    Re: 2009 Cincinnati Reds

Check this out it is scary!
Our second best option off the bench is our # 5 starter.

Stat of the day: The bench
The bench for the Reds has to be one of the weakest/least experienced in franchise history.
Consider their bench on a day that Jerry Hairston starts.
Pitcher Micah Owings is 2nd in career games, ab's, hits, and rbi's...he's 3rd in hr's.
(ML stats going into opening day)
    Ryan Hanigan: 36 games, 95 ab, 26 hits, 2 hr, 11 rbi
    Paul Janish: 38 games, 80 ab, 15 hits, 1 hr, 6 rbi
    Darnell McDonald: 21 games, 42 ab, 6 hits, 1 hr, 1 rbi
    Chris Dickerson: 31 games, 102 ab, 31 hits, 6 hr, 15 rbi
    Micah Owings: 73 games, 116 ab, 37 hits, 5 hr, 21 rbi
    Laynce Nix: 270 games, 875 ab, 206 hits, 29 hr, 118 rbi
    Total: 469 games, 1310 ab, 321 hits, 44 hr, 172 rbi, .245 average
Minus Nix their bench has a total of 415 ML at-bats
Opposing managers have to be shaking come the late innings

I despise Matt Stairs since he ruined a game I attended once with a walk-off.

Speaking of walk-offs, what's Joe Randa doing these days?

Well that was a great game. It is always nice when you give up a grand slam.

Did you guys hear that Chris Dickerson injured himself Saturday trying to walk through the revolving door at the team hotel?

Harang pitched great today and we picked up the W, so it was a good day.

Yes, he did. If he's back to his old self, it'll be huge for this team.

Yes Harang appears to be back!!
He only faced 3 over the min. and only had one 3 ball count all day.
Now if we could get Jay and Edwin hitting we might have something here.

Edwin came through in the clutch. Can't beat a grand slam that puts you ahead. Volquez is still giving up a lot of runs though.

Ask and I shall receive, Jay homers and Edwin hits a GW Grand Slam!

Ok lets try this again! lol
Now if we could only get Gonzo hitting and get another good start from Arroyo.

Hernandez and Gonzalez are horrible right now. Hanigan and Janish cannot hit any worse, but both are better defensively do not see why the are not playing more than these two.
