just made a 6"11 275 Rim protecting power forward last night...it was a lot of fun and the boost in defense is VERY noticeable...even compared to my 7"2 290 rebounding rim protector...i don't care how good someone is...you can't defend with any dual or non-defending build like you can with a pure defender....at least not individual defense....too much clipping this year and it's ridiculously easy to get position in the paint as a big/dunking build...even vs 7"2-7"3 heavy builds

SF, he's somewhere in the range of 6'7 - 6'10, I honestly forget.

The badges on this build are absolutely NUTS. I'm primarily an on ball defending and assist kind of guy, so this build compliments my game to perfection. I get Gold defensive badges (rim protecting silver) and all silver passing (dimer, flashy, lob city) and to top it off, you get incredible slashing badges as well. I'll list the badges below so you know specifically what I mean, this guy is so well rounded - he essentially has all the badges you'd want, with the exception of the shooting badges. Luckily, in park, you know damn well there's always a shooter anyway lol
Want to make this build so bad. You can get tier 2 dribbles if you make him 6'8 and under. I'm just hesitant because I'm not sure how much I would have to grind to unlock them. If I had to get this build over 91 Ovr to get those I don't think I'd want to invest the time. But yeah that build is very appealing to me and I'll probably give it a go after I finish my C.

If you're not playing around the rim and stopping people from making contact layups/dunks then there's no point to making a lockdown defender this year IMO.

Good perimeter defense is mostly about angles, distance, anticipation, and knowing when to switch -- you don't need high ratings or powerful badges to be effective at any of that stuff.

But if you have bad defensive ratings and you don't have any defensive badges in the paint, you can play perfect defense and people will still make contact layups and contact dunks on you at a high percentage this year.

I would probably make the Playmaking Defender a PF ala Draymond Green to take advantage of DS proc'ing on the three frontcourt positions, but is that even a solution...even 7'3 can get contact dunks this year. From what I've seen in walk-on it's bailout city in the paint with standing/contact dunks.

My 6'7 LDD PF last year was so competent in the paint it kind of scared me, HoF Bruiser and Rim Protector were definitely key to him being so effective, this character won't have those benefits. It'll be awhile before I think to dive into a Defender so hopefully I'll have more knowledge to better decide.

How do I equip the custom colorway shoes I did with my sponsor?

I cannot find them in any closet

I couldn’t find anywhere how weight, wingspan etc affect max ratings & archetypes, until a buddy pointed me out that you can start a offline MyCareer, set your build as you wish and check ratings in no time without being forced to play that prelude part and waste 45 min before you can see your attributes.

So I made it a video in case anyone has a similar dilemma. Or just wants to see different builds.

                Whoa that helps A LOT!!

I did something similar for deciding height and weight, but didn't know about the offline shortcut.

It was even more difficult at the time because I did it before the patch adding the attributes in the player development screen.

Ended up going with just a playmaking shot creator PG

Boring because that's what everyone does but at least I can play my own way.

                  Rolling officially with:
                  1) 6'3 Shot Creating Playmaker PG
                  2) 7'1 Two Way Finisher C

I'll probably make a pure sharp for fun too.

                  Time to grind

It's an incredibly helpful build, especially for park (haven't tried much Pro AM on him).

It's a grind for ALL the badges, I think there's 5 Gold (not counting the 3 everyone gets) and 8 Silver - at least you don't have to grind for any HOF badges lol

Strongly disagree, the badges alone on this build are ridiculously helpful.

I've played "perfect defense" on this guy and nobody has hit a single shot thanks to his badges.

When I run on this guy, we're winning on average by over 10 ppg, nobody can score.

the 3s team typically consists of me: playmaking defender, a pure lockdown and a playmaking shot creator PG, we're dominating defensively.

I somewhat agree with you on the angles, distance, anticipating, switching - you're right, but I don't think the majority of 2k park players understand the concept of playing on ball defense lol. I think you're underrating the importance of the badges on this build - Gold defensive stopper/pick pocket and silver rim protector have been an incredible combination to defend essentially any archetype for me.

Cannot say about silver, gold and HOF badges, but I can confirm that the difference for my slashing point forward with the bronze chasedown artist is like night and day

I can imagine that but I do agree with the other user that ratings and badges are far less effective if you don't know how to play defense (but this applies for almost all archetypes and badges)

For instance, I prefer having on my team someone with low defensive ratings and no defensive badges but who can play defense rather that someone with all gold defensive badges who keeps spamming the steal button and has no defensive IQ.

Clearly having someone with both defensive knowledge and gold defensive badges is the perfect storm.

If you guys could spare some advice I would appreciate it greatly. My first guy is a playmaking/Slashing point guard who I love because I feel like my offense is unlimited.

Now I wanted to change it up a little, I would love to make a center or power forward who just dominates defensively. Is a pure defender the way to go? Maybe pure and athletic? If my only option is dunking, I'm ok with that.

Edit: I play fairly well defensively with my PG, just want to make a defensive terror down-low.

This is true, it's really all about the user more so than the badges.

But, if you know HOW to properly play defense and also have those badges, it's nuts. It has been for me at least.

I really like the PF/C Defending / Rebounding archetype because it'll boost your rebounds obviously you get the following key badges:
                                HOF Rim Protector
                                Gold Defensive Stopper
                                Gold Putback King
                                Gold Bruiser
                                Gold Lob City Finisher
                                Silver Hustle Rebounder
                                Silver Posterizer

Defendeing / Slashing will get you Gold Rim Protector, Gold Posterizer tho.

Pure defender will be faster than either of those builds tho (especially lateral quickness) and you'd get HOF Rim Protector and Defensive Stopper.

All solid builds defensively, depends if you're trying to grind for HOF badges or if you'd rather have a better, say posterizer badge.
