As an fyi timing is key when passing alley-oops. This year it has to be perfect. Throw it a millisecond too early or late and ya done son. Though personally I hate how defenders in game play the pass right away then just foul you if you attack the rim

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread

just decided to start a new MP this time as a SF. so i'm actually a 6foot10 athletic SF. in the predraft game i had 15 points and 8 rebounds. got interviewed by the pacers (who actually wanted me to play SG cause of danny granger and i was fine with that), the suns, didn't really wanna play there and again the sixers, which was great. got drafter by the sixers and have yet to play a game. before playing i thought to try to get as much sp as possible so i did that dribble course trick to raise speed and quickness. took the points i received completing it, to use on other things so i had like 8000 sp before my first game. raised both strength and especially shoot in traffic, cause i missed many contested layups in the predraft game. i'm gonna wear the CP3 shoes cause they give me a +5 on quickness.

What do you guys think i should spend my sp on as a 6"10 athletic SF?

      current stats:
Layup: 80, dunk: 76, shoot in traffic: 61, strength: 55, speed: 77, and quickness will be 80 with the CP3 shoes.

also does anyone have experience playing as a SF for the sixers, considering they already have turner, iggy and young?

On mine I went for Shot Med. Especially with setting screens, the D would leave me in no-man's land quite a bit. I get a lot more points with that mid-range shot than I do inside. And after a few of those, you can throw a pump fake so the running defender over-commits and slip inside or take the foul.
Filling recruiting boards? Do something useful and read a book.

My player blows up. 20-25 points a game. But it is zero fun if we lose every game. I'd rather score less and win, but I pass they miss their dang shots.
          Teammate chemistry is at 77.
What Difficulty level you playing? This repeatedly happen to me at both All Star & Superstar level as our teammates play worse as you move up. I actually suffered thru 25 straight with my Bucks/Center and asked for a trade (traded to Kings).

are the playbooks that bad on console? i had a sf on the bulls and i've never seen boozer even near the 3pt line let alone take one.

I'm just on pro. It is really frustrating. The teams we're supposed to crush, we should crush.

Sometimes you want to have a blowout win. Sometimes you even want a loss. But I don't wanna lose by 25 to a team with a losing record on a consistent basis -- just because they're going 85% from 3 and we're going 7%.

I just noticed you can look at your my player on your profile page at the 2K website and save the image and it even has the background removed.

I just need to wait till next year and go to another team. Because I want to have this image, but not wearing a Blazers uni. Very cool looking either way.

It wasn't just crossover and hesitation, I also raised pullup. It kills me how many skill points they cost though.
Those three for me and I'm good, it's all I'll need for now. Yea, definitely go with the 2 you mentioned and let me know how it works out for you.

@illwill I had one shot in my Rookie season where I hit a bunch of milestones and a big key game performance and earned 23K points. I went on a skill point shopping spree...wasn't even thinking about abilities, I think I threw 10K at 3pt Shot. This and the 20 games in the playoffs have made it possible now to chase/SAVE for Abilities.

I need 21K to FIX Shooting (Poor) to Average (8532), Fadeaway, Dribble Pullup and Stepback Jumper

I need 50K to upgrade Dribbling (Average)to Good (16373), Hesitation, Crossover and In & Out

I need 40K to upgrade Layup (Average)to Good (16373), Hopstep Layup/Dunk and Eurostep Layup

With A series Teammate grades this will probably take all 62 games left in this season. That being said, it will be Season 3 before my player will be equiped like other Stars...and believe me I have some scores to settle when I get there....ie; Derrick Rose, Stephen Curry, Steve Nash, Rodney Stuckey....yeah Season 3, I plan on getting payback for all the torture from my Rookie Season!

I am sorry who you playing for again? Check their Overall Rating (NBA.coom/Home), teams in the 70s suck kangeroo nuggets until you get the Teammate Chemistry over 75. Competitive teams have key injuries and play stupid until the Rookie/Soph game.

Hang in there and prepare for after the All Star game push to the playoffs! Keep answering the Press Conference questions as a team player (don't get frustrated and go off, lol). The AI/CPU will reward you for having in confidence in your team!

Rookie - PG/Knicks - 14th Eastern Conference at the break; moved to 6th seed, won NBA Finals
Rookie - CEN/Kings - Dead last Western Conference at the break; moved to 10th seed, missed playoffs by just 3 games

IMHO, Not on the PS3, I always play with the Plays On, once you get used to "bumping" its pretty good and it helps Teammate Chemistry and boosts your ability to get assists. I am not skilled enough with the Controller to call my own plays and pay attention to the court (too slow).

Yea, I have never seen Boozer shoot a 3; however, he is a nuissance under the basket! Then again I have never seen Dirk Nowitzki do a dribble hesitation, crossover then drive and do a Euro spin layup neither until purchasing this game!

"Catch up mode" strikes again. Blew a 20 point lead vs the last place Grizzlies. Boozer went 1-9. We missed 4 consecutive easy fast break shots (one a wide open dunk from Deng) in the 4th quarter.

                      Eventually won by 7.

Boom another one. 7 point lead going into the 2nd quarter? Nah that wont last.

Suns open the 2nd quarter on us with a 19-4 run. Awesome. I'm now down by 10 and we're shooting 3/17 in the 2nd.

It's just like every other game, the computer decides your team isn't going to do just poor. It's going to be so poor that you won't even be competitive. And then when I sit the bench, the stats will magically even out a little bit so it doesn't look mathematically obscene. But we'll still lose.

Nothing like an 8 point 2nd quarter from your team to make you wanna keep on playing [sarcasm]

Played 3 more games with my Athletic Pg. In the 1st game he ended p playing a good game, but suffered an injury in the 2nd Q that took him out for the game. He had a twisted ankle, he could either sit out for 10 games or play through it for 21 days. After his next game against the Rockets another blowout, I decided to sim to the next key game which as next month against the Lakers. He played good against the Rockets finishing with 20pts, 4reb, 1assist, 1 block. After simming his AVERAGE went form 20ppg, 4.5reb,1.5 assists, to 8ppg, 2rpg,.9apg. He had a 20 pt game against the Lakers w/ 4assists, and 5 rebounds, and 1 block. Their was a glitch saying that I got a milestone that I recorded 2stls in a game when he had none...strange. i used my sp to up Shot Med to 75, and S.I.T. to 68. i used my money to buy Love's jumper which is the closest to mine in real life.

It's good that Stoudemire and Carmelo have recovered from their mini-slumps, and they both rebound from their poor performances in a loss against the Wolves. They both score 20+ points as usual, and my MP ended up with 30/10/10 for his second triple-double in 8 games this season. I got up to 18 points at the half, and let Carmelo and Amar'e take over, and they scored 10 and 12, respectively in the second half. I score 12 as well.

Our play styles complement each other well. Carmelo is an iso-post guy, Amar'e is a PnR, post up, iso, and I can create my shot from anywhere...off the dribble, in transition, on the break, 3 pointers, isolation, post up...so my shooting % are high (55%) so It's important for me to contribute to our offense, with 20+ points, but to keep the attempts under 15 shots to score 20...under 20 shots to score 30, etc.

We get back to .500 (4-4) after a struggle out of the gate. Fatigue from winning the Finals maybe?

Key Game(s) - Star Matchup - Derrick Rose

@ Bulls: My frustration meter is at 96! We play superb basketball in 1st half, just one turnover while feeding Carmelo Anthony (30pts) and dropping 15pts (45%) to make up for Stoudemire's (foul trouble).

I hold Rose to just 6 pts in the paint and he is dead cold from anywhere else, we lead 53-42.

Anthony would finish w/39, Stoud 15 and A-Train just 20 as the damn crazy AI would flip Rose's slump onto myplayer for NO REASON, he would end up shooting (27%) from the field on Good Shots!

I somehow manage to get 2 TOs with the ball actually in the receiver's hands (the old hand off animation), which of course would spark a run (Hamilton & Deng from the 3pt arc). The other I just hit the wrong button and threw one to the other side of the court.

Tidbits: I did stop the first Bulls' 2nd half run with a mid-range jumper, but, I wasn't paying attention to the scoreboard when subbed-out in the 3rd qtr. When I first came back I should of been more cautious with the ball and tried to get Rose in foul trouble by driving to the paint. I got to do better!

Why is (Barbosa-SF/SG) a 54 rated rookie guarding Richard Hamilton (24pts) with less than 3:00 minutes left in the game and Landry Fields is not in foul trouble, Coach? We lose 102-94

                            Rose; 15pts, 2 rebs, 4 assists, 1 steal, 2 TOs
                            A-Train; 20pts; 3 reb, 8 assists, 3 steals, 4 TOs (3 in the 2nd half) (2730 SP)

Paying attention can give you easy assists or easy buckets in transition!

You don't need to Subscribe or anything like that, I am making these for my cousin (another old head) who is driving me crazy with requests to show him how to do this & that. I should of nevr told him how much fun I was having....

p.s. - the crowd reaction was right in this one and they booed Melo, Stoud and A-Train to no end after we got the ball, scored or went to the Free Throw line.

You are on your way to a NBA Finals Title!!!

Re: Official NBA 2K12 My Player Thread

New user, have used this thread many times to answer questions and now I'd like to contribute.

I'm in year 3 right now as a 6'0 All-Around PG for the Atlanta Hawks. I was drafted by the Suns and rode the bench behind Nash of course and actually went on to win the 6th man award.

Year 2, Nash has retired and I get the chance to lead the Suns. Starts off ok, I didn't expect much considering how bad the rest of the roster was but we made it work. Had a lot of fun playing with the team because I was able to score effectively and relatively efficiently (25 PPG) and find my teammates for open looks either on the pick and roll, open 3s, or alley-oops to Vince Carter. I finished with about 7 assists per game. Keep in mind these numbers were skewed because I made the All-Star team and the benching bug happened so I missed out on a lot of minutes.

We fought hard all year to stay around the 8th seed and made a late push to get the 6th seed. I only play key games and assumed the 1st playoff game in the series vs. the 3 seed Rockets would be one, but I was wrong and was forced to play a game 6 elimination game down 3-2. It was so exciting and we pulled out a solid W in front of the home town fans to force a game 7. Game 7 was surprising as the team locked down everyone besides Kevin Martin en route to an easy victory and series victory.

The next series was against the 2 seed Lakers. To be honest, I wanted to make it realistic as I am a perfectionist for that sort of thing, and also selected to only play the next key game and was again forced to play a game 6 down 3-2. This game ended much worse than the previous series. I got into early foul trouble and we ended up losing by 20 or so as the team couldn't create any offense without me on the court.

I was selected to 1st team all-NBA as well as 2nd team all-defense leading the league in steals.

The following season I was disappointed to get my option picked up, although not surprised, because I wanted to play for a true contender. We added no one significant and only got worse with VC's departure. I played the 1st game and scored a career high 50 points in a losing effort with 8 assists. I immediately asked for a trade listing the Hawks as my 1st choice, Bobcats 2nd (Currently best record in NBA with Dwight Howard), and Lakers 3rd. I was soon traded to the Hawks straight up for Josh Smith, which disappointed me because he was one of the main guys I wanted to play with.

Anyway, I have led the Hawks to the 3rd best record in the NBA behind the Bobcats, Thunder, with the Heat close behind. I am averaging 28 ppg, 8 assists, almost 3 steals, and 5 rebounds per game, my best effort being against the Clippers (who went from the 1 seed in the west the previous year to on the bubble of making the playoffs the next year). A close game with about 8 minutes left in the 4th (12 minute quarters), was blown open as I scored 23 straight points for my team on a 23-4 run to put the game out of reach. I had already dished out 12 assists before this explosion where I simply made every shot I took. I finished the game with 56 points, 12 assists on 22-33 shooting. This still stands as the season high for points in the league.

We are in early March and are trying to keep the Heat off our heels in order to secure the 2 seed in the east. I'm 3rd in MVP voting behind Durant and Westbrook (what?).

I know this is super long but I wanted to recap my career to this point for anyone interested in reading, and also thanks to anyone who reads this all.
