Allen Iverson Should go to spurs.

I've been thinking about this for some time now. I just think it would be a perfect match for him and the spurs they'd have 2 of the fastest players in the nba on the same team tony parker(PG)/iverson(SG)
then they could finally trade Manu Ginobili for a big Center like they really need someone like Bogut/kaman or someone like that. The lineup would be like this

C - Bogut OR KAMAN or something
    PF-Tim Duncan
    SF-Richard Jeff
    SG-Allen Iverson
    PG-Tony Parker

    What do you guys think?

I'd like to see it because AI would get to play with a real pg and a legit big man, plus Pop-a real coach- factor.

I'd take him on the Spurs.

          AI speaks out..in a way

It set off speculation that Iverson was using his back injury as an excuse to quit on the Pistons. Iverson scoffed at that Thursday, saying if he was faking why would he have gone through the painful treatments.
"I played all those years and became known for toughness and suddenly I'm faking?" he said.

Iverson declined to criticize the Pistons' organization, although he did say that Curry "wasn't ready." He had never been a head coach anywhere and had been an assistant only one season before he was hired last summer.
When talking about the reasons the Pistons' season didn't work out, Iverson did concede that he had a big ego and that he probably shared some of the blame as his scoring average hit a career-low 17.5 points for a four-time NBA scoring champ.
But he didn't ask to come to Detroit to replace Billups. He said it made him wonder now if there was any way for the Pistons' combination to work -- a first-year coach, an aging and injured Wallace, a new point guard and young players not ready for major roles.
"It was sold to me as we were going to go for it," Iverson said. "I was told that things had gotten stale around here.
"Now? I don't know. I think it may have been about the money."

He said his back is fine and he is working out every day.

Man, if money is a concern to me at this point in my life, after all that I’ve made, then I’ve got a problem. So that’s not going to be a big deal. The biggest deal is going to be being happy. That’s it. ... In Denver I was happy all the way through, but that was what, two years? I’m talking about a steady diet of happiness all the way through. That’s all I want at this point in my career.
Obviously I want a championship, but I don’t care about statistics anymore like I did when I was younger. I don’t care about All-Star games. I don’t care about scoring titles, MVPs, none of that. I just want to play basketball, be effective and be happy. Be a great teammate. I don’t even care about being dominant on the court like I used to be. I don’t have any more individual goals. I’ve done basically everything you can do in a basketball game.

              1. Nobody is trading a solid 25 or 27 year old center for an old, wounded Ginobli

              2. If he is willing to be a lower option, play within the offense, and take fewer minutes, AI would be a great fit on the Spurs, Cavs, or any good team. However, I really doubt he is.

Re: AI speaks out..in a way

Another nice article on the other side of Iverson

“My shoulder’s hurting right now because of the chip I have,” Iverson said. “I

can’t wait” to prove critics wrong.

Iverson dismissed the notion of settling for limited playing time.

“Me playing 15 to 20 minutes a game? I might as well just stay home and play

with my son for 15 or 20 minutes,” he said.

The idea of accepting a reserve’s role also irked Iverson.

“You earn it,” he said of a starting position. “I’ll go to (training) camp, and

may the best man win. ... I’m not losing that battle.”

I think he will accept a lesser role just not a 20 min role and he wants to be a starter not much to ask...

Honestly, I don't even blame him, because I thought about it, and I'd rather get buckets than be on a good team, lol.

So can I really criticize him if I would be trying to do the same things if I were in his shoes?

It's not much to ask a contender to essentially rebuild their team around an aging black hole on offense?

                              It is.

As a 20-25 minute per game player on a contender, AI would be amazing and possibly elevate a Spurs or Cavs team to the chip. As a starter, he'd be terrible.
