    Re: 2023 Offseason Thread

I think KAT still has family decent value. Where they should be able to recoup a couple firsts, to help offset not just keeping Kessler Walker lol. If Wolves trade KAT, they would need someone at the 3 who can score. They would still have enough defense with McDaniels and Gobert in the front court.

I think KAT needs to start next to a versatile defensive PF that can guard 3-5. It's just hard trying to think of a team he fits on that makes sense. Ideally the trade is a complementary players package where it's a a couple players to match salary and a couple firsts.

The Wolves had that guy (Vanderbilt) and traded him for an expensive "upgrade" in Rudy.

Whoever trades for KAT will have to have a similar player on their roster to make it work.

That's funny. Vanderbilt was the guy I was thinking for the Wolves, I forgot he was traded to the Lakers and assumed McDaniels was the guy I was thinking of because I know he is the better McDaniels brother

I would say Bucks lol because he would fit next to Giannis. Or playing next to a healthy motivated Ben Simmons

Or Bam in Miami, but with his and Jimmy's history/bad blood it would never work.

That was the first team I thought of. That actually would be a good fit if it wasn't for the bad blood.

I can't believe that was a real offer.
Even if we all acknowledge that Morey tries to tilt trades too heavily in his favor, this would be outlandish even for that

Zach Lowe had floated the idea of a trade built around swapping Jrue Holiday for KAT. It's definitely interesting to think about and I know Giannis and KAT are friends. I'm not really a fan of having your two most expensive players be big men but Giannis and KAT do theoretically fit extremely well together. I don't know what we'd do for ball-handling at that point though.

FWIW, I know some people have compared the Wolves' draft pick this year to Vanderbilt. I love the guy they got (had him as a top 5 player in the class) but not sure I really see him being a Vanderbilt type player personally.

That's why I was hesitant to mention Bucks. That would be a very expensive front court in Middleton, Giannis, and KAT. But the backcourt would be very weak with no realistic way for improvement. But KAT and Giannis are a seemingly great pairing. Giannis is analytical great rim protector and has the defensive versatility to cover up for KAT. You definitely lose out on the defensive presence of Lopez. Lopez was one of few guys who can slow down Embiid one on one. But, KAT would definitely be a legit floor spacer that would thrive off of the gravity Giannis creates.

Assuming he wasn't included in the trade to get KAT, the Bucks could probably flip Portis for a starting caliber guard.

I just don't really see us rocking the boat THAT much. I suspect we just re-sign Middleton, try our best to re-sign Brook or at least frame losing him as a sign-and-trade to get a trade exception and then move some combination of Grayson/Pat/Portis for different role players.

Future big selling jersey in the NBA (its also factually correct)

The other jersey number options he could have had would have been hilarious lol

The obvious one is banned in the NBA anyways.

Yes, it's been banned in the NBA I think since day 1 (or at least early NBA days) because they're a "family friendly league".

I think Rodman even tried doing it (big surprise) and NBA said no.
