Re: The OFFICIAL NBA Playoffs Thread
1. He's not going to play for free.
2. He wants to win, NJ and Toronto weren't doing that.
I can see your point since you're and NJ fan, but I dont mind him wanting too win and giving his all to help a team winComment

Since when did this become a Zo' bashing forum? Back off guys. The guy's been through alot. I know it wasn't right to force those trades the way he did but lay off the guy. I don't see him playing much longer if ever again so rejoice, the hated Alonzo will be gone soon enough.Top Five Favorite Bands

Re: The OFFICIAL NBA Playoffs Thread
Well anyways, we can all thank that dummy of a player Damon Jones for securing the win for the Pissies. What the hell was he doing after getting the pass from Shaq? And then of course, he missed that foul shot. I wanted to kick his slow azz through the tv screen. I swear to beans, Damon Jones get on my nerves. Especially now because he's been on those Shaq shows on ESPN. Bitch.
Anywho, Spurs in 6, if not just 5.Comment

Re: The OFFICIAL NBA Playoffs Thread
Damon Jones suffered a case of sphincteritis as Charles Barkley would say. But the guy who really bothered me was Keyon Dooling. How many possesions did this joker hijack during the series? I think in tonights game alone there were 4 possesions where no one but Dooling touched the ball.
Add to that, he has the dumbest looking game face in the NBA.Comment

Originally posted by bkrich83Again my opinion. But in a game like tonight, Wallace was a complete non-factor. All I ever read about is how great he is. I have yet to see the greatness. It's easy to look great at that size when you play in the East I guess.
I never said he wasn't good, I just don't get the hype that surrounds him.Comment

Ben is one of the best players in the league at rotating and stepping in to take charges. He's rarely ever late.Comment

Re: The OFFICIAL NBA Playoffs Thread
What people lose in the Ben on Shaq debate is the fact that Ben (and the Pistons as a whole) are one of the only teams that will play Shaq straight one on one. Miami's success is predicated on the dump and kick style. Dump to Shaq, 1,2 or 3 drops to double...kick out for 3. Or... dump to Shaq, 4 comes to double, PF rotates down and stands wide open under the basket. Shaq is a great passer in the post and Miami lives on that. Detroit being willing and able to check Shaq one on one negates that. Shaq scores 40 against double teams!!! 27 against one on one is not bad D.
The Pistons have ALWAYS played this way. They use to do the same thing back in the David Robinson glory days in SA. The Admiral would drop 40 on the Pistons, but the rest of the team would combine for 36 and the Pistons would win 90-76. The Pistons rolled 4 deep at Shaq... Ben, Sheed, Dyess, and Big Easy... they ALL played him one on one. When you have to double Shaq, it's the NBA version of a powerplay.Listen to The Remodeling Clay Podcast!

Re: The OFFICIAL NBA Playoffs Thread
Originally posted by RahKhemThe hype that surrounds Big Ben, is that even though Shaq has his way with him for the most part, he can still outrebound Shaq, and does JUST ENOUGH, to make sure the Pistons don't have to double team in every play like every other team does. He's 6-9 240 (a power forward body), playing a 7-2, 325 lbs. man. Shaq will get his regardless, but because of Ben's rebounding prowess, he can lessen Shaq's impact. Now some people will overblow this and say he stopped Shaq, and they just don't know what they are talking about, even Ben himself says he can't stop Shaq. The other part is that when Ben doesn't have to worry about Shaq getting easy dumpoffs, he is an AMAZING help defender. People say the Pistons system is the reason that Ben is so good, Ben is the last stopper on that defense. Everybody on that defense can extend pressure, because they know they have Ben back there for the threat of altering the shot. He doesn't have to block it, he just has to make it considerably more difficult. And once that gets into players' minds, it makes the Pistons' defense even better, because it takes away some of the aggressiveness of the other players. No one is saying Ben Wallace is the best defensive big man ever, that goes to Bill Russell for the forseeable future. But when you watch Big Ben as I have, I've watched every playoff game Detroit has been in the last 3 years, there is no overratedness about his game, it is a very real and game-altering presence.
Good player, not great, certainly overrated.Comment
