Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
Acts, I tried this latest set your experimenting with and here are my two cents:
I've been using your previous sliders in legacy, so I tried these experimental new ones in fight now. I took my created fighter with an 87 and went against Tommy Morrison (85). These had a weird vibe to them. It felt like the fight was in fast-forward or something. Both fighters were moving way too quick, and the punches had a bit too much pop. I scored 3 knockdowns, finally KO'ing him in the 2nd.
I think your previous set may suite me better. But that's just me.Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
My problem with the pro setting and these sliders is that so far I'm knocking everybody out, including in the amateur tourney, in the first or second round. I literally haven't seen the third round in a fight since starting a new legacy with these sliders.
Now, let me be clear. I'm not that good of a player. With act's previous champion slider set, I was losing about 40% of my fights. So I was really hoping the pro sliders would work for me. And I'm not a spammer or arcade player. I go into every fight with the intent of being cautious and fighting smart, but it seems like one good shot hurts my opponent, and not trying to take advantage of it would seem to be unrealistic.
Is the high KO rate just because I'm at the beginning of my career and facing weak competition, or will it stay this way?
This carries over into the boxer ratings. A 70 right hand is not equal to a 70 head rating, for example. Because all ratings are so low at the beginning of Legacy, the ratio is GREATLY amplified, leading to alot more knockouts.
Note that changing difficulty level doesn't change this a whole lot.
So you have two choices - knock everybody out early and hope that it corrects later. Or set your sliders so that some of your early fights go the distance and hope that knockdowns don't become impossible later in your legacy.
There's no real good answer, so I say just go with what you like.
What are you using for Power and Toughness, by the way? I like 6/4 on Pro, seems to produce the best results.Recovering slider addict...Fight Night Round 4 caused me to relapse...Comment

On Pro, it's quite a bit more manageable, but it still takes some getting used to.Recovering slider addict...Fight Night Round 4 caused me to relapse...Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
Yeah, that's not a good combo for Pro, IMO.
10/8 is going to produce alot of stuns and knockdowns.
I've played alot with them set at 5/5 and 6/6 and still get a good number of knockdowns, but the mechanics are a little weird - it takes alot of punches sometimes to do it and flash knockdowns are too fun to eliminate them altogether. Hell, I even play a few games with Power at 6 and Toughness at 8.Recovering slider addict...Fight Night Round 4 caused me to relapse...Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
On a somewhat related side note, posting in the sim thread about Bernard Hopkins got me thinking about clinching.
Twice now in the course of playing on Pro, I've had the CPU clinch in the middle of the round, while at near full health and stamina. It would appear he's using the clinch to slow me down a bit. But I've only seen it twice.Recovering slider addict...Fight Night Round 4 caused me to relapse...Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
OK, I've been doing some testing to see if I can do something about punch output. I'm testing with the first fight of the Amateur Tourney in Legacy mode since that is generally where the disparity is the greatest.
First fight:
PWR - 6, TGH-4, STA - 0, CPU OFF AWR - 10, CPU DEF AWR - 0
OUTPUT of 10
I knocked him out in the first round and threw 38 punches to his 4. No go.
2nd fight:
PWR - 6, TGH-4, STA - 10, CPU OFF AWR - 10, CPU DEF AWR - 0
OUTPUT of 10
I knocked him out in the first round and threw 37 punches to his 8.
That pretty much disproves my Stamina theory. If it's not that, maybe the CPU is programmed to be "scared"?
So I changed Toughness from 4 to 6. Left everything else the same from fight 2.
Not only did I not knock him out in Round 1, but he threw THIRTY punches. Granted I threw 72, but he probably would have thrown more had I not stunned him twice.
The defensive awareness at zero is definitely not going to work. 70% connect rate for me is too high.Recovering slider addict...Fight Night Round 4 caused me to relapse...Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
Ultimately if you up Toughness enough, the punches that would normally knock your opponent down will just whittle away at his health until there's none left.
You're going to win by KO no matter what, it's just a question of whether you do it in the 2nd or the 5th.
The key really isn't the power/toughness ratio, it's getting the CPU to be more offensive. If he sits back in a shell, like he usually does on Pro, he can't win. Even if you go the distance, you'll win every round simply due to punch output.Recovering slider addict...Fight Night Round 4 caused me to relapse...Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
It would seem that the Toughness slider had alot to do with it.
I set Power to 6 and Toughness to 6. Stamina at 4.
Both awareness sliders and the output slider to 10.
We got through the 1st round without any knockdowns this time, and he actually threw 38 punches to my 67. He landed at a higher percentage too, so the scoring was actually more even than the punch output.
And for Azamien, I've gotten flash KO/KD at 6/6 even on Champion (although it's rare). It works.Recovering slider addict...Fight Night Round 4 caused me to relapse...Comment

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
I notice throwing jabs(and cross) from a distance or while backing up greatly reduces it from being countered...Since Ive started that, my KO rate went down and with a set house rule(cant push out of clinch because CPU doesnt do it) these are golden! Getting close decisions more than KO's!

Re: Official Slider Discussion Thread
Yeah, the more I play, 5/2 for power/toughness may be where it's at. I like ten because it wears down the CPU's guard when they are stunned and they are blocking all my shots, which I find unrealistic. It does, however, produce more varied results. I had a maxed out legacy fighter that was tri-champ with a 21 (13)-0-1 record with it at five and two and I felt with my opponent being who they were at times there were a couple I should have Ko'd. When they were stunned they'd pick off punches and we'd start all over again. I am going to try a couple more slider setups before I decide on a set one.
Two speed isn't a bad thing, but the slower the speed the greater difference you can see in the fighters speed. Three is too high on Champion as far as keeping punch percentages down and the lower it is the lower the counters will be as well, unless the other guy is faster, lol. A lower speed also negates the asinine 'reflex' rating EA has on the game the causes the timed block freeze. To see it go to WC Mode and hit Y (360) when your fighter is highlighted to see their ratings and with a fat 50 you will see reflex.Comment
