Mets Increase Division Lead!!!!!

Hometown Mets pad NL East lead with divisional win over Braves.

The Mets extended their lead in the NL East to 5 games over the Phillies with an 8-6 win over the Braves last night, before an excited crowd of 54,350 fans at Shea Stadium. Carlos Delgado went 2-for-4 and drove in 1 run to spark the offense. Pedro Feliciano earned his 10th win of the season in relief, allowing 1 run and 3 hits in 2 innings of work after Orlando Hernandez left the game.

The series continues today, with a pitching match-up of the Mets' Oliver Perez (5-7, 6.33) against the Braves' Chuck James (5-3, 3.94). Already at 20-plus, Carlos Delgado can add to his 21-game hitting streak.

Guthrie throws gem and goes distance in O's 5-1 win over Twins!!!!!

Baltimore, MD - Jeremy Guthrie, who's had his ups and downs this season, including being shelled in his last 2 appearances, turned the corner tonight as he went the distance against the Twins line-up, allowing 1 run on 3 hits, with 4 walks and 3 strikeouts as the Orioles took a 5-1 victory from the Twins for the 2nd straight night at Camden Yards. Nick Markakis also had a huge night, delivering his 100th RBI, with a single to center field in the 4th to get the O's the lead and then delivered his 20th home run on the year in the 6th, a 2-run shot to right center field that put the game away for good. Aubrey Huff delivered an RBI double in the 8th inning that kept Guthrie in the ballgame and Guthrie managed to work the 9th without a flaw, a much needed effort that the "Birds" were looking for to rest their tired bullpen. The O's look to finish off the Twins tomorrow night and take a sweep into their road trip this week with stops against the "Blue Birds" and "Bombers".

Thanks man. I can't wait to finish up and get on to the off-season, but in the meantime, I'm having a blast actually winning games against above .500 clubs such as the Twins. Thanks for following.
