It's All Even In Race For NL Wild Card!!!!!

NL Wild Card standing crowded at the top, after Diamondbacks beat Rockies on the road to tie Cardinals for first.

The Diamondbacks picked up a big win 9-3 over the Rockies in Colorado yesterday, sliding into a first-place tie with the Cardinals in the race for the NL Wild Card. Chad Tracy had a big game offensively, bashing a home run and driving in 4 runs. Max Scherzer allowed 3 runs on 10 hits in 7 innings of work, to earn his 3rd win of the season.

Tonight the Diamondbacks and their ace Brandon Webb (16-6, 3.43) are in St. Louis to begin a series with the Cardinals, who plan to start Adam Wainwright (11-9, 4.91). Albert Pujols will be swinging for home run number 40 this season.

I thought the same thing Member.

It's going to be a great run to the wire for the NL Wild Card. D'Backs and Cards are tied with the Phillies only 0.5 game back as well, Cubs are sitting 2.5 games out. Going to be good.

Cabrera out-duels Shields as O's take opener against Rays!!!!!

Baltimore, MD - The Orioles returned home tonight to open the first of their final six games of the year and probably got their best all around team pitching performance of the year. The O's blanked the Rays 1-0 on a combined effort from Daniel Cabrera, Chad Bradford, and George Sherrill. Cabrera went 7.2 innings, giving up just 5 hits and struck out 6 batters before turning the ball over to Bradford. Bradford avoided a threat with runners at 1st and 3rd in the 8th, getting Evan Longoria to pop out to the catcher. George Sherrill then worked a perfect 9th to pick up save number 40 on the year. The lone O's run came off the bat of Aubrey Huff, a 411 ft shot to straight away center field, just out of the reach of a leaping Carl Crawford. The Rays had their chances, leaving 8 runners on base including 3 times having runners at 3rd. The two teams will lock horns again tomorrow as we near the end of 2008.

Hey unexpectedorc, it's been an amazing run, let's see if they can finish it off. It would be awesome to see them win the whole thing.

Hey Member, that game was intense. I must of did 3 or 4 fist pumps after retiring guys left on 3rd. I may be 32.5 games out of first, but the O's still have some passion.

                              Wild Card Front-Runner!!!!!

No more sharing: Cardinals all alone in NL Wild Card lead.

The Cardinals got by the Diamondbacks 3-1 last night at Busch Stadium, trimming their deficit in the NL Central to 3 games in back of the first-place Pirates. Picking up his 1st win of the season -- in relief of Adam Wainwright -- was Jaime Garcia, who worked 4.1 innings, giving up 1 run on 2 hits. Slamming the door on any potential rally, Jason Isringhausen picked up the save, his 40th of the season. Going 4-for-4 and driving in 2 runs, Allen Craig was the catalyst offensively. Pitcher Adam Wainwright had to leave early after getting injured (strained bicep). As a result, he's day-to-day.

The Cardinals will start Matt Clement (4-5, 4.46) tonight in game 2 of the series, while the Diamondbacks counter with Dan Haren (4-8, 3.94).
