Jays complete sweep as Orioles self-destruct late!!!!!

Toronto, ON - The Orioles took a 3-0 lead into the 7th inning tonight at Rogers Center, but would not snap their 3-game skid as Jamie Walker and the O's defense was ineffective replacing starter Radhames Liz after a performance by Liz that should've resulted in his 9th win of the year. After a home run from Aaron Hill in the 7th to cut the "Birds" lead to 3-1, Liz turned the ball over to Walker with runners at 1st and 2nd. Ryan Patterson, the first Blue Jays hitter that Walker faced, would deliver a 2-RBI triple to the right center field gap. Walker managed to get out of the 7th with the game tied, but the 8th would be a different story. Walker would load the bases on a hit and 2 walks with 1 out, then Brian Roberts dropped the turn on a potential inning ending double play ball to give the Jays the lead. Alex Cintron would then air mail one into the Orioles bullpen to follow that would've also got the O's out of the inning, allowing the Jays push there lead to 5-3 and making the 9th an easy one for B.J. Ryan to receive his 42nd save of the year and finish off the sweep of the Orioles. The Orioles are off to the Bronx for an important series with the Yankees who sit 1/2 game back of front running Boston for the division crown.

On Familiar Turf, Diamondbacks Cut Into Wild Card Lead!!!!!

Diamondbacks get best of hated Giants at home, gain ground on Cardinals for NL Wild Card.

The Diamondbacks beat the Giants 2-1 last night at Chase Field, slashing the Cardinals' lead in the wild card race to 2 games. He only had 1 official at-bat -- and he banged out a hit -- but Trot Nixon drove in 1 run for the winners. Chad Qualls was solid out of the bullpen, pitching 2 innings to get the win, his 7th of the season, in relief of starter Micah Owings.

The Diamondbacks and Randy Johnson (8-13, 3.99) head to Colorado this evening to start a set with the Rockies, who counter with Ubaldo Jimenez (11-11, 3.18). Garrett Atkins can extend his hitting streak to 20 games in a row.

"Bombers" division crown hopes dampered as Orioles blast Yankees at the "Stadium"!!!!!

Bronx, NY - Luke Scott and Aubrey Huff delivered back-to-back home runs in the 1st inning off of Yankees' starter Mike Mussina and this time would not surrender the lead as they blasted the "Bombers" 9-2 tonight at Yankee Stadium. The "Birds" as a team pounded the Yankees pitching staff for 17 hits on the night. The only offense from New York came off the bat of Alex Rodriguez, homering twice to push his total to 45 on the year. Jeremy Guthrie picked up his 10th win of the season, one behind Daniel Cabrera for the team lead, going 6.0 innings and giving up just 2 runs on 5 hits. Nick Markakis extended his hitting streak with a 2-RBI single in the 8th pushing his total to 108 for the campaign. Brian Roberts also went 3-for-6 on the night and swiped 2 more bags to give him 59 on the season. In a history making moment for the Yankees, Derek Jeter picked up his 300th career stolen base in the losing effort and am sure he would trade that for a win tonight as the Yankees fall to 1 1/2 games behind the Red Sox for the AL East pennant. Both teams will go at it again tomorrow as the O's look to win their final road series of the year.

That's amazing...You're going to win 70-74 games and you'll possibly have at least 3 guys with 100+ RBIs. I think we know where your focus will be in the off season

Thanks guys, hopefully I pick up some pitching and another valuable hitter, and of course, I hope I don't lose any key players in the process. Thanks for following guys.

Pirates Win, Add To Division Lead!!!!!

Hometown Pirates pad NL Central lead with divisional win over Astros.

The Pirates defeated the Astros 5-4 in a divisional battle last night before a crowd of 36,098 at PNC Park to build on their lead in the NL Central to 2.5 games over the second-place Cardinals. Nyjer Morgan launched a solo home run and collected two other hits in the victory. John Grabow vultured the win (his 6th of the season) out of the bullpen, coming into a tie game and working 1 inning and allowing no runs on no hits in relief of starter Tom Gorzelanny.

Tonight is game 2 of the series, as the Pirates send Paul Maholm (9-8, 4.13) to the hill against Shawn Chacon (10-9, 4.55) and the Astros. Neil Walker hopes to add to his 10-game hitting streak.

Made a little update to the Free Agency house rules. I originally had one fielder, but it makes more sense to allow me to protect 2 each season as the ratio of position players (13) compared to, relief pitchers (7), and starting pitchers (5) is high.

                                - I will manually protect two pitchers (one starter and one releiver) and two fielders of my choosing to be re-signed. Contract will still be based on card system. (Franchising). I may not protect the same player(s) in back-to-back seasons.
