Pittsburgh Gets Road Win, Tie Up NL Central!!!!!

Brand-new race in NL Central after Pirates win on the road.

The Pirates knocked off the Astros 6-3 at Minute Maid Park last night, drawing even with the Cardinals in the battle for the battle for the NL Central crown. Jason Michaels picked up 2 RBI's and went 2-for-4, providing the offensive spark. Franquelis Osoria vultured the win (his 4th of the season) out of the bullpen, coming into a tie game and working 1 inning and allowing no runs on no hits in relief of starter Zach Duke.

The Pirates and Astros play again tonight at Minute Maid Park, as Pittsburgh sends Tom Gorzelanny (8-9, 4.24) to the mound against Shawn Chacon (10-8, 4.72) in Game 2 of the series. Xaiver Nady looks to build on his 12-game hitting streak.

Indians power game at it again!!!!!

Baltimore, MD - The Indians homered on 3 occasions, including a pair of 2-run shots off the bat of Jhonny Peralta in the 2nd and 4th innings as the "Tribe" guaranteed themselves at least a split of the 4-game series at Camden Yards. The Indians jumped to a 5-1 lead by the 4th inning, forcing O's starter Troy Patton out of the game. The "Birds" climbed to within a run before Franklin Gutierrez capped the scoring for the night with a solo home run off of former teammate Jensen Lewis in the 8th. The man that Baltimore traded for Lewis back on June 9th, Chris Ray came in and slammed the door shut on his former team to pick up his 21st save of the season. The O's will look to turn it around tomorrow in game 3 of the series.

A tale of two Adam's sees Indians overtake Orioles in extra innings!!!!!

Baltimore, MD - The starters in tonight's game between the Indians and Orioles, Adam Miller and Adam Loewen put on a pitching display for the ages. Though both left the game with a no-decision, both pitchers retaliated with jabs, roundhouses, and uppercuts throughout the affair. Adam Miller went 8.0 innings for the "Tribe", giving up 0 runs on 3 hits and striking out 11. Adam Loewen returned the favor, going 7.0 innings, allowing 0 runs on just 1 hit, an infield single to Casey Blake in the 1st. Loewen only recorded 2 strikeouts. Both pitchers left the game in a scoreless tie and the game went to extra innings in the same fashion. The Indians got a break in the 10th when Melvin Mora booted a routine ground ball that would've gotten the O's out of the inning, but allowed Franklin Gutierrez to score. That led to back-to-back doubles from Casey Blake and Grady Sizemore to extend the lead to 4-0 and put away the Orioles for the third straight night. The finale of the series is tomorrow as the Indians look for the 4-game sweep.
