2K giveth and 2K taketh away. Embiid going down is HUGE news, forget winning this series -- you're down 3-1 without your best player -- you have to focus on what's next. Even if Embiid wasn't having an all-world series, he is still the leader and emotional center of that team ... without him on the floor, it's curtains.



Man, now what? Will Embiid be able to recover? Is the team's biggest star damaged goods? The offseason is going to be crazy.

Dang, talk about heartbreak... It would have been hard enough to come back from down 3-1 with Joel, without him it's all over but the crying.



Like Trek insinuated, maybe this last game (or possibly more) could be used to see what life without Embiid looks like... because he may have a tough time bouncing back from that injury.

The injury happened when I simmed the first quarter so when I got to the sub menu I admit I was tempted to just restart lol I have had my eye on someone for a while now and this would be the biggest trade I have made. It should work as this person is a non starter for a team that hasn't made the playoffs in forever. I can't remember what Embiids contract is like the next few years I need to check on that. I am going to post a story soon on my options on how to replace him for the rest of the series. I am legit running out of time to win a title before 2k19 gets here.

Who Is Bryan Penn Johnson ?

The NBA world and 76ers fans are still in a state of shock after the terrible timing of Embiids injury. We will focus on the long term implications later for now we will look at how they replace him. If you can somehow find a way to win game 5 on the road then you go back home for game 6.

Bryan Penn Johnson is a 21 year old, 7'0 248 pound C that the 76ers drafted with the 27th pick in the 2020 draft. He ended up having more potential then the front office expected and while he isn't close to reaching the A- potential. He is developing nicely as a defender and rebounder. He obviously can't do those things as well as Embiid can as long as he can hold his own that will give the 76ers a chance. His height alone over Bell and Green should allow him to get 10+ rebounds when you factor in his athleticism. He has decent inside scoring, but for this series he will rely on dunks and layups off P & R to score. If he can improve his inside scoring over the next few years he could be a real option to start at C.

Coach Brown did announce that BPJ would start and pointed out that it was the easiest option as it allowed Ben to stay at 3 and Bol at 4. He said we didn't want to make wholesale changes to the way we have played all year. He said both BPJ and Luke Samanic would see about 30 minutes. Paul Milsap (79 ovr) is expected to see about 10 minutes in game 5. We expect the minutes of BPJ and Bol will be staggered so at least one of them is on the court at all times. The other option that's been floated out is bol at 5, Ben at 4, Roco at 3, Fultz at 2 and either Sexton or T.J at 1. This would allow Roco to guard Durant and Ben to slack off Green who has shoot horrible this series. We would also expect to at least try out some small lineups with Ben at C and 4 shooters around him. When Bol plays the 5 you shouldn't have any issues as he has done that plenty with Samanic at the 4. If Milsap struggles do you play Ingles at 4 where he can atleast be a threat from 3 ?

This is a huge chance for BPJ and he has a chance to show the world he belongs in the long term plans for this team. If he plays well and the 76ers win a game or two would the unthinkable happen and fans want to see "the process" traded ?

All that depth is going to pay off in this next game ... or force you to reconsider the having so many bigs (even with Embiid's health) over the long-term. Good luck.

Warriors - Game 5 - 2022 Finals

Huge Game for BPJ

The 76ers ended the 1st half down 15 points and things didn't look good at half. The 3rd quarter the 76ers came out hot and took a 5 point lead with 4:32 remaining. Also all the regular rested and a new 5 guys came into the game to close out the last 4:32. This was a crucial stretch and a big game and all the 76ers wanted was to break even or lose 2 points. That didn't happen as it went to the 4th quarter tied at 79.

Fultz finally decided to hit a FG and his 1st one gave them a 2 point lead with 4:34 seconds to go in the game. The next play he gets a steal and assist to Bol for the dunk. Ben then found Samanic for a layup off a pick and roll. So with 1:50 seconds to go the 76ers are in good shape up 4 points. Durant missed a 3 and on the other Ben found Bol to extend the lead to 6. Curry then missed a 3 and a Ben rebound would ice the game after hitting 1 foul shot.

The 76ers held on for a huge game 5 win and now go back home for game 6. The 76ers shoot 19 less 3's then the Warriors did and finished with 18 more points in the paint. When you drive to rim and not a lot of 3's your going to draw more fouls if someone on the team could just hit a FT that would be nice. Turnovers wasn't a huge issue in this game for Philly.

Curry and Durant combined for 48 points and while Durant shoot well Curry was only 9 of 25. Smart who had the huge game 2 played 38 minutes and had 5 points and 6 assist on 2 of 11 shooting. Green had a big day rebounding with, but still continues to be liability on offense going 3 for 14. Bell flirted with a 20 - 20. They got big minutes from Brown off the bench so you could see him with more minutes going forward.

Everyone wondered how Bryan Penn Johnson would play and he gets a A+ 16 points and 16 rebounds on 8 of 13 shooting. He got a ton of open looks near the rim as the Warriors gave him much easier shoots then anyone else on the court. You have to give him credit for playing within himself and not trying to do to much. Samanic finished with a state line of 11-3-4 and while he played solid he will need to play better and be more aggressive on offense. Sexton saw more minutes then T.J did tonight manly because he was rolling so Coach Brown keep on letting him play. He saw a lot of minutes in the 4th over Fultz who was a nightmare. If Bol and Ben can play like this the rest of the way the 76ers can shock the NBA because both were excellent .

Warriors - Game 6 - 2022 Finals

Not Going Down Without a Fight

Ben was having a huge 1st half with 17-6-4 and that was the main reason it was tied at 59 at half. The 3rd quarter ended with the Warriors up 94 to 88. The 76ers key players were all rested plus with timeouts so the 76ers would be fresh for the 4th quarter run. The Warriors hadn’t used the bench as much as expected so either they would have to take out the big two or force them to play about 40 minutes.

Bol would pick up his 5th foul with 10:35 to go and down 6 he would be forced to go to bench for a few minutes. The Warriors lead would be cut to 1 with 7:43 in the 4th quarter. Ben was having a huge game and being aggressive on offense. He drove and Smart went away from Covington to double Ben on the drive. It was nothing but net so after back to back 3’s for Roco the 76ers were now up 1 point with just under 4 minutes to play. Curry and the Warriors of course would not go down easily and he would nail a 3 to tie the game with 2:10.

Durant had a great look for 3 with 1:35 seconds to go and would miss it 76ers ball up 2 points. Ben was still hot so for the 2nd straight possession a pick and roll was called with BPJ setting the screen. The defense both times gave BPJ a easy dunk so now the 76ers up 2 with 1:01 in the game. Green has had a brutal series and down 2 he took the biggest shot of the game for the Warriors. He would miss the shot inside the paint with T.J guarding him. The rebound by Covington so the 76ers up 2 with only 36 seconds to go. A little later a Ben Simmons dunk would make it 4 points with 17 seconds to go. Curry would miss a three a few seconds later the rebound again belonged to Covington and game was over.

The 76ers continue to shoot well from 3 and overall that was a wash the game. The length and size just continue to give teams problems with + 13 in rebounds and +6 in blocks. Turnovers was back to being a problem in this game –10 in that area. The fouls also were back to being even with the 76ers shooting more 3’s this game.

Curry and Durant combined for 9 for 25 from 3 so that’s not really good enough to get it done. For the most part it was Covington guarding Durant and Fultz on Curry. Green was a little better tonight still win or lose you have to think he has played his last game for Golden State. Backup SF Brown didn’t make his case for more playing time shooting 3 for 12.

Ben Simmons took the team on his back with a game for the ages 32-9-9. His asset in the 4th quarter is the difference in the game. Bryan Penn Johnson showed last game isn’t a fluke with 20 and 16. We have to be fair and say once again just about all his points is because Ben and others gave him open looks. Bol struggled in this game shooting only 2 for 11 and getting in foul trouble. Samanic was solid still could use some more out of him though.

Warriors - Game 7 - 2022 Finals

For the 2nd straight year the 76ers go to game 7 of the NBA finals. If you remember last year the 76ers got blown out by the Timberwolves 109 to 69. This year even without Embiid it seemed like it was going to be different as this team had came back down 3 to 1 and was a scrappy defense team.

We would like to have a long recap about how this was a great and back and forth game. We will not be able to do that as for the 2nd straight year the 76ers are blown out in game 7 of the NBA finals. Turnovers and fast break points are the two main things that jump out in the Warriors favor when looking at team stats. We may have spoke to soon when we talked about Marcus Smart's historic game 2. He was huge on offense with 25 points even out scoring Durant. Sexton and Bol both played well for the 76ers, but they really missed Embiids ability to score posting up.

This now leads to another interesting offseason with what do the 76ers do to get over the top and finally win a ring. Remember they were the 8th seed so will still get the 17th draft pick. The 76ers have Sexton who will be making big $ so they can use that for salary matching purposes and a foundation to a big name. They also have international player who is set to come over and a lot of future draft picks. The Warriors will likely look different as well as Curry and Durant are FA and its hard to see either going elsewhere. This FA class is loaded with talent, but very few teams have cap space so a lot of sign and trades will have to happen.

Can you afford to have him as a pillar of your team moving forward or is now the time to trade him, betting your young bigs can carry the load and do it healthier over the long term?

Yea it was a fun playoffs and I thought I would be celebrating a title after games 5& 6 just something happened and never got close

I am very excited for my offseason just not the rest of the teams as its getting way to confusing to figure out all the FA with limited cap space and high overalls. I think I have to try and make a big move i'll try and go over the top 5 targets and top 10 FA's tomorrow.

Yea I am less pleased with Smart's game 7 then you are lol I am not sure how or why he did so good as I didn't do anything different then games 3 to 6 maybe he has some kind of clutch rating or trait idk.

I am fine with losing as after all these years It would have felt wrong to win it with Embiid hurt. I still would have rather won though lol

Dwight Howard in the Hall? I got questions. Very debatable in my mind, his post-2011 years have been rather middling.



As for the draft, look at the Outlaws! Jumping up all the way from 7th best odds.



And of course the Clippers blow it and get stuck at four. The curse lives on.
