    SPRING MEDIA DAY

With the news of Sarderrious Minter going to Running Back this spring, sever positions now have an area of interest to keep an eye on as Spring Practice unfolds. Here we will highlight some positions that we believe will have very tight depth chart races.

    QUARTERBACK

    Tommy Bowden Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach

"We've got a talented group right here. We all saw what Clay Tilllman brings to the table for us. Live arm, poised, Smart, takes care of the football. You can definitely tell he's a Coaches son. He has a intangibles its hard to teach. B.J. McDaniel is a bigger guy that we've used similar to Minter. He's a true duel threat guy. Has a big big arm. Spent a year in our system, and has really done a good job since he's been here. Can't wait to work with these guys. Sha'dar Walker is a special kind of athlete I'm not sure I've ever seen. Will be a fun challenge to work with a talent like that. We have a lot of work to do and I'm just ready to get after it."

    MEDIA TAKE

Well with the position switch of former Heisman Trophy winner Sarderrious Minter, the Quarterback position has gotten extremely interesting. Redshirt Sophmore QB Clay Tillman would be the assumed front runner, as he helped lead the Seminoles late last season and looked to really have a grasp of the Offense and really opened up the passing game. That experience could possibly give him the edge over other talented Quarterbacks. He finished the season with 1,441 yards and 11 touchdowns with only 2 interceptions.

However, Redshirt Freshman QB B.J. McDaniels comes in with an ultra talented arm and ability to lead the Offense. With a redshirt year under his belt, he was able to learn the offense which may help him this spring.

But the true darkhorse here is True Freshman Sha'dar Walker. He has probbaly the most ability of any Quarterback on the roster. But the question begs will he be ready for the big time lights that comes with the position at FSU.

    RUNNING BACK

    Running Backs Coach Greg Jones

"It's so good to be back here in Tallahassee first of all. And to get to meet these great young men I'm going to coach is also such a great feeling. We've got a great stable of backs that gives us a different approach. Zaleel Hamby is one heck of a Receiver out of the backfield and that makes you a lot of money at the next level. Sarderrious Minter is just one heck of a talent. Kind of reminds me of a much faster version of myself. Trey Wright is lightning in a bottle. He's a huge homerun threat but he's a lot stronger than he looks. We have an absolute loaded backfield that we are ready to make better. "

    MEDIA TAKE

With Sarderrious Minter moving to Running Back, the stable of Running Backs has gotten so deep we are not sure where to go with this one. Florida State now has a total of three former Five-Stars in its depth chart in the back field. We know Minter's running ability as a Quarterback, but how well will he be able to read the holes as a Running Back?

The presumed starter prior to Minter moving was Zaleel Hamby. However, Trey Wright being one of the fastest players on the team gave FSU that gamebreaker at Running Back last season being a huge homerun threat anytime he carried the ball. FSU has three different options they can use at anytime, and that doesnt include Redshirt Freshman Jardai Slaughter who can possibly be a special talent as well.

    WIDE RECEIVER

    Wide Receiver Coach Jason Archie

"I'm so excited about this group. This is easily the most talented group of young men I've every been around. Such a variety and blend of different types of guys that allows us to do pretty much any and everything we would like to do. Plenty of height, plenty, plenty of speed. We have a lot of work to do though. Pit Graham is a guy I'm extremely excited about. He put a ton of work in the weight room this off-season and it paid off. He jumped from 185 to 202, and is such a stout and fast guy. He will do a lot of things for us. Chris Brown at 6'4" is a legitimate 4.3 guy. At his size he gives us a bunch of different options. I'm extremely excited and ready to go to work with these group of kids. "

    MEDIA TAKE

Not much going on here when it comes to position battles as the depth chart is pretty cut and dry with three All Americans returning to the roster. Jamar Reid the team's leading WR will likley be his final year as he's the #1 WR on Mel Kiper's big board, while the team leader in touchdowns last year (14) Kennard Thomas is the #3 WR on the big board. Orbit Jackson who was second on the team last season in receptions and yards returns for his Sophomore campaign, and Bentio Tipton also returns as well as he was the teams 4th leading WR, and caught the game winning touchdown in the National Championship game could also opt out early to the draft.

    TIGHT END

"We have really transformed this position to make it athletic and also physical. We have different types of guys in this group that gives us different things that we can do at different times. I love the variety we have. Mikkie Munday is a special kind of player. That height and length is dangerous. David Davis is now a veteran and we expect big things from him this year. We need the maturity to continue to grow, just like his on field ability. And he's been doing a great job of that. Whitehead is every bit as athletic as his dad was when he was here. And T.J. Thomas gives us a different dynamic that not a lot of teams can say they have. I'm really, really excited about this group of young men. "

    MEDIA TAKE

This position definitely has a bunch of battles to look out for. Junior David Davis was the starter his Freshman year and a few games into his Sophmore year until a early season suspension. After that suspension Sophomore Mikkie Munday took over and played exceptionally well as his replacement. Even with a talented group of WRs Munday still finished the year with 19 catches for 241 yards and 1 Touchdown in his Freshman year stint.

Now you add two more Tight Ends that have ability. Oliver Whitehead, the son of former Florida State Linebacker Melvin Whitehead (NCAA 2006 XBOX) who was a 3 time All American, is now a Tight End for the Seminoles. Whitehead took a Redshirt last season and has the ability to help the Seminoles in multiple ways.

Lastly you have True Freshman T.J. Thomas who everyone is excited about. Thomas played WR in High School, runs a 4.41 with a 42 inch vertical. At 6'4" 230 he will pose a lot of problems for opposing defenses in the passing game. This spring will allow him, and all the other Tight Ends to separate themselves to earn valuable playing time.

    OFFENSIVE LINE

"I'm very excited about being here. We have a ton of talented guys. A lot to work with. I'm excited about getting out there on that field, and helping these young men grow. Chalk talk is important, but this is one position that must consistently be physical. So being on that field will help us develop that physical mentality. I'm excited about the incoming Freshmen, I think they can help us a lot. Very excited about them. Of course, we will have a lot of work to do. During Mat Drills, I was really impressed Derique Smith, he really stood out to me. a guy that large should not be that athletic. He has a really bright future. Cole Chinndell is very young but he's an extremely intelligent young man. We have all the pieces to have the dominant line that people around here are used to. And we will definitely find the right fits to make that happen."

    MEDIA TAKE

One position that truly could use an overhaul is Offensive Line. The Addition of superstar Synnquann Evans could definitely help in that area. The best Lineman Florida State had last season was Shelvin Borker who was drafted in the 7th round of the draft. FSU has done a tremendous job of attempting to do a better job of recruiting to make an area of weakness a possible strength. And with the hire of new OL Coach Harry Heistand, we would assume that all 5 positions are technically a battle. It will be interesting to see how the spring unfolds.

    DEFENSIVE LINE

Defensive Line Coach Rohan Malice, Sr.

"This is my 4th year here, and this group is extremely solid. I cant express how excited I am about this group. They are hungry, they are determined and they are ready to get after it. We've got a lot of returning guys, Angelo Jackson,Zaveri O'Born,Robert Tate, and Joe Terrell are guys that have really been after it. They are all multiple year guys that know whats expected this time of year and have been leaders. O'Born has led us in sacks since he's enrolled and he's such an explosive little guy. A guy that I'm most proud of is David McNeil-Days. He played close to 370 last year, had a decent year, but dedicated himself and his body to be in even better shape this season. He will play around 335 this season. Marvin Dickerson and Terrence Manson are guys that Redshirted last year that are really itching to get after it this year. Really excited about those guys. All of these guys passion is really being contagious to the incoming Freshman. I'm excited to get to work with Jevar Creysac, Bakari Brazille and Suri French. Really, really excited about the potential of those guys. This is going to be a very fun year with this group."

    MEDIA TAKE

Defensive Line Coach Rohan Malice, Sr has a lot of reason to be excited as his group has been extremely productive since he's been here. Some of which have been 3 year starters, like Zaveri O'Born and Angelo Jackson. Others in reserve duty still have more than held their own. O'Born has helped lead the Seminoles in sacks each of his first two years. Angelo has been a very active Nose Tackle for FSU. With former veteran DE Sharaad Bonner leaving for the NFL, it opens up a vacant DE spot that is ripe for the taking. Robert Tate seems to be the front runner for that spot since he was the backup to Bonner last season. But Malice clearly loves comptetition and clearly the best man will win the job.

    LINEBACKERS

Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers Coach Tim Beckman

"Boy this is one heck of a group I tell ya. Big, athletic, can do a lot for us. Man I'm so excited to toy around with this group. We have the ability not only as a defense, but as a group to be extremely dynamic. We have such a good group of a kids. I don't think I've seen a collective group of big, tall, rangy athletes like I do here. This is a sight to behold. Taylor Covington, boy he's such a big time guy. And George Phillips is going to be big time, I mean big time. He's such a freak of an athlete. Zel'Arius Wilson can really do some things for us, Rashaun Britton too. Long , rangy guys that can really, really move. Now I tell ya, another guy that stands out is Kyson Perry. He's definitely got that it factor. He's absolutely enormous. He's in that mold of Khalil Mack. He's big , physical, can run , can cover...he can do it all. I mean do it ALL. That entire 'Spud' position with him, Ty'Shall McBee, Kenyatta Bimbo are guys that gives you a ton of versatility. Bimbo is very fast, very athletic for his size. His speed and acceleration is what separates him. He's definitely got next level potential. This a solid, deep group and I cannot wait to get to work."

    MEDIA TAKE

We echo the sentiments of Defensive Coordinator/Linebacker Coach Tim Beckman. This group is big, fast and physical. Seeing as the majority of the group from last season returns, we have an idea of who will be doing what this season for that group. We assume Covington will play the Bandit, Britton will be at Mike and Perry will be at Spud. With Bimbo and McBee playing all over the Defense in different variations and formats. This is why FSU loves versatile players. Bimbo led the team in sacks last year with 8.5 and is definitely a pass rushing specialist that has gotten better each year. With so much talent returning to a position of strength, there's no doubt that a lot of the incoming talent at these Linebacker spots will be redshirted such as Five-Stars Alaadin Bouye and Shawn Ray Butler.

    CORNERBACK

    Terrell Buckley Cornerbacks Coach

"I think I've got some extremely talented guys at this position. We cross train every Defensive Back, so all our DBs can play everywhere on the field. But these guys are legitimate Corners. Could probably play in any era. Isaac Boles, and Ja'Carius Kidd are probably the two best I've coached together at any time. Big Kids, tough kids, Coachable. Jerrell Horn is the feistiest of the bunch. He's the one of the bunch that wasnt as high heralded as the others, but he let's his game speak for himself. Can easily play Free, Ace, or Hawk. He played a lot of Hawk last year. Made a lot of plays. Jumps out on tape at you. I'm really excited about the Freshman Eric Igwe. He's a really big physical kid that can really play. Excited to get to work with him. "

    MEDIA TAKE

Although FSU's Defensive Backs play all over the field, this specific bunch that focuses primarily on corner positions may be rated the best in the country. Isaac Boles was 2nd Nationally in interceptions with 7 last season, while Ja'Carius Kidd was the least targeted corner last year in all of college football, and also the highest rated Corner according to PFF. Jerell Horn , a former three-star recruit has had his share of impact games last season as well. And highly heralded Five-Star Eric Igwe will be entered into the fray as well as he learns the concepts and schemes of the defense. This is a very deep Cornerback group that has FSU set moving forward.

    DEFENSIVE BACKS

    Charlie Harbison Defensive Backs Coach

"Very versatile group. So excited about the versatility. Allows us to do so many different things in so many different schemes. Thats what we preach here. Thats what we preach in recruiting. We want guys who can give us multiple looks. And thats what these guys offer. J.D. Davis is obviously the leader of the group being practically a three- year starter. Bihadda Maddox has started his entire year here at the Hawk position. Luron Dixon and Colton Hathaway are probably our back end guys that gives us a lot of freedom. Dixon gives us the ability to do so much with his speed and instincts. He's a heck of a player. And Hathaway has a ton of range and loves to come down and hit. Very excited about his growth. One guy that has truly stood out so far in Mat Drills is Jose Rodriguez. I tell you what if he keeps working like he's working, look out for him. He's one heck of a player."

    MEDIA TAKE

J.D. Davis and Bihadda Maddox have played a ton of snaps at FSU. Both have produced at a very high level. J.D. Davis has played his way possibly into a high First Round grade with his play his first two years on campus. If he continues on that path he will undoubtedly be just that. Davis was second on the team in tackles with 77 to go along with 1 interception on the season. Maddox was a High School receiver that was moved to the secondary upon his arrival and has been amazing at that spot. You have the ultra athlete Luron Dixon who is also a start Track and Field athlete for Florida State also. Dixon was 2nd on the team last season in interceptions with 3. He has a heck of a Freshman campaign and wants to build off of that. But two players to really watch out for is Colton Hathaway, who is playing at Free this season which is is natural position and Jose Rodriguez. Rodriguez is a firey competitor and had a surprisingly great Freshman year in a reserve role. He will likely see an expanded role as a reserve as a Sophomore with J.D. Davis still enrolled. But this is a very very deep group that is a position of strength for the Noles this season.

FSU WINS FIRST TRACK AND FIELD NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN OVER A DECADE

Freshman DB Luron Dixon records a 7.80m Long Jump

The Florida State Seminoles win their first Track and Field national title in over a decade with the help of three Seminole football players. WR Sytavious "Pit" Graham, won the 200m event by posting a PR 20.10, and recording the 3rd fastest 200m time in FSU history.

WR Orbit Jackson showed world class speed as he posted a PR 9.98 100m which ties for 4th best in FSU history. Jackson owns the Texas High School State 100m(10.10), Long Jump and Triple Jump records as well, previously held by Marquise Goodwin.

And DB Luron Dixon posted a 7.80m Long Jump for the Seminoles also.

"We are very proud of all our student athletes. We fully support dual sport athletics here at FSU. But Dixon, Pit , and Jackson all showed the ability that we knew they had, and the best has yet to come for those three guys. We are extremely happy for them as well as the entire Track and Field team here at FSU" Said Head Coach Cameel Verner, Jr.

The Spring Game is set to kick off in 3 weeks in Doak Campbell Stadium.

Re: FSU: The Rebuild and "the Return" (NCAA 2019 Dynasty)

      2031 Coaching Staff

      Head Coach: Cameel Verner, Sr.

      17th year Head Coach
      187-39 Record
      16 Bowl Appearances (11-5)
      7 National Championships (7-0)
      12 Conference Titles

      4th Season with FSU
      34-7 at FSU
      1 ACC Title - 2 National Championships
Last Year Record: 14-1 (National Championship)

Head Coach Cameel Verner has had one of the more successful runs in college football as of late. Before leaving Georgia Tech he won 5 championships in 14years. However, 3 of those titles came in his last 5 seasons at Georgia Tech. Now at Florida State, his first 3 years at his alma mater, has given him 2 National Championships.

Playing days: Cameel Verner played at Florida State in the early 2000s (NCAA 2006 XBOX), and was a 3 time All American Middle Linebacker. After FSU he was drafted in the first round by the Atlanta Falcons(Madden 06) were he went on to play 14 years, and was a 13 time Pro Bowl selection. His son, Cameel Verner Jr, played at Georgia Tech while he was the Head Coach there and has spent the last 8 years in the NFL making 5 Pro Bowls.

      Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach: Tommy Bowden

Tommy Bowden returns to FSU for his 4th season at FSU with Coach Verner. Bowden has been a big part of the success of the program and this year is serving as the full time OC and Quarterbacks coach for the Seminoles.

      Running Backs Coach: Greg Jones

Greg Jones played for Florida State in the early 2000s and returns to his alma mater to begin his coaching career at Florida State. After spending 10 years in the NFL, he is now on the sidelines in an effort to keep the Running Back stability that FSU has had the luxury of having over the years.

      Receivers Coach: Jason Archie

The Former All American FSU standout played with Cameel Verner when Verner was an all American Linebacker. At 6’6” 240 pounds, Archie was a mismatch for all DBs and that didn’t stop when he was drafted in the 1st round of the NFL Draft either. Archie played 16 seasons in the NFL for the Green Bay Packers and Miami Dolphins before retiring. With the abundance of talent, Archie has a ton of skill to work with at the WR position. His receivers the last 4 years have been atop the best in the country.

      OL Coach: Harry Hiestand

Hiestand most recently was the the OL coach at Notre Dame for the last decade before the Noles pulled out all the stops to reel him to Tallahassee. He replaces Dan Rouchar who left to take a job back in the NFL. Hiestand looks to help develop a unit that has under achieved so far in the tenure of Cameel Verner's Head Coaching campaign.

Defensive Line Coach: Rohan Malice Sr

One of the best Defensive Lineman to grace Bobby Bowden field was Rohan Malice Sr, who had the pleasure of coaching his son his first year here, former Five-Star Rohan Malice Jr. Malice has had one of the best Defensive Line units in all of college football. And in his 4th year on the staff, he has plenty of talent to utilize this season.

      Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach: Tim Beckman

Tim Beckman will enter his first year as the Defensive Coordinator for FSU. His former coaching stint was being the Head Coach at Illinois before taking the job at Florida State as DC. Beckman is an aggressive coach and Verner is an aggressive coach as well and his defense requires similar mindsets. Beckman understands the weight being the DC carries here and appears ready to take the challenge head on.

      Cornerbacks/Special Teams Coach: Terrell Buckley

Buckley enters his 4th season as Cornerback's coach at FSU and has done a masterful job thus far. He's been even greater on the recruiting trail. He has an abundance of former Five-Stars to work with in the secondary.

      Defensive Backs Coach: Charlie Harbison

Harbison will enter his third year as FSU's Defensive Backs coach where he focuses on the Free, Hawk, and Ace positions. His unit has done a great job over the year's in Pass Defense Efficiency and looks to continue that success with more talent being added to the depth chart.

On Field Defensive Analyst: Rome Brown Jr

Rome Brown was an All American Safety for FSU (NCAA 2006 XBOX) with Head Coach Cameel Verner and in his first year at FSU as a coach was the Defensive Backs Coach. Now he is the on field analyst for the Seminoles with an expanded role.

Re: FSU: The Rebuild and "the Return" (NCAA 2019 Dynasty)

        SPRING PRACTICE DAY ONE

1st Day: Light work vs Scout Team
Spring practice is underway in Tallahassee, FL as the back to back National Championship Seminoles kick off their next campaign in a quest to reach the College Football Playoff for a third consecutive year. We will go over our thoughts and reviews of how the first day went, and also take a look at the newcomers and incoming Freshman that participated in their first day of Spring Practice.

The Seminoles didnt do any full 11 on 11 work today, but worked a lot in individual drills, one on one drills and position drills vs the Scout team.

        New Practice Look?

As you have probably noticed, FSU is not donning their signature spear on their helmets this off season. After practice we asked Head Coach Cameel Verner, Sr about the uniform adjustment.

"When you play at FSU, you have to understand that nothing is giving. And you have to understand the things that come with it. Wearing the spear on the helmet is an honor. And it must be earned. You have to earn your trust of your coaches, you have to earn the playing time you recieve, and the spear is nothing different. Every player on this team must earn the privledge of wearing that spear on gamedays."

        SPRING QUARTERBACK BATTLE

With the news of former Heisman Trophy winner Sarderrious Minter moving to Running Back this offseason, the huge question was who will replace the two year starter? All signs pointed towards Redshirt Sophomore QB Clay Tillman who did a marvelous job last season filling in for Minter when Minter was suspended towards the end of the season for violation of team rules. However, FSU has a couple of extremely highly rated backups that are looking to be behind center in the fall including Redshirt Freshman QB B.J. McDaniel, and True Freshman, former Five-Star recruit, QB Sha'dar Walker. The 3 Signal Callers took the field for the first time this spring:

        PASSING DRILLS

The three Quarterbacks had their fair share of ups and downs. B.J. McDaniel had a really good showing in the open portion of the drills. Looked very comfortable with the scheme and very familiar with the recievers.

        Spoiler

The highly anticipated debut of Freshman Sha'dar Walker was what you expected from a true Freshman. Even though it was against the scout team, he seemed to struggle a bit and was a bit irratic on his throws. However his full display of skillset won't be available until FSU opens up the full 11 on 11 portion of its practices where Walker's legs really become a problem for defenders.

Clay Tillman easily was the best of the three in day one. He had some magnificent passes that just seemed to drop in the hands of WRs. He was extremely and undoubtedly the most accurate passer of the three. So far in day one, he was the most impressive of the three QBs.

MINTER TO RUNNING BACK A GOOD IDEA?

Of course, the biggest question of the day outside of who will take over at Quarterback was, how did minter look at Running Back? Well, during the position portion he looked just as bit as good of a runner behind Quarterback as he did behind Center for two years. He broke of numerous big runs vs the scout team and was a very physical running between tackles and in traffic.

RB Trey Wright also had some explosive runs during the open period also. Wright who is the fastest of the Running Backs is looking to build of an impressive Freshman year and try to compete for either the starting spot or one of the main backup roles.

        Spoiler

The surprise of the evening came from Redshirt Freshman Jardai Slaughter. He showed a ton of explosiveness and physicality during the practice period that we have yet been able to see. If Slaughter can continue running that way he can make a crowded Running Back room even more crowded.

PAIR OF FRESHMAN MAKE SPLASH ON FIRST DAY

Florida State undoubtedly is one of the top 2 or 3 talented teams in the country. And on Signing Day, FSU signed a top Five-Star in the class in Ja'Christian Anderson, and then they got a bit of a surprise by signing WR T.J. Thomas also. Florida State may have the deepest roster in the country at WR, and it looks like it might become even deeper with these two Freshman weapons.

Anderson, considered one of the top recievers in the country at 6'6" was only considered a deep ball threat by some as a High School Senior. But today in his first action as a Seminole vs the Scout Team, he impressed a TON. He is a very fluent route runner. One of the best possibly on the team. Junior WR Benito Tipton is easily considered the best route runner on the roster, but Anderson definitely will challenge him for that title. Anderson has one of the best releases we saw today. He's virtually untouchable in bump and run coverage. He gets off the line with ease and flows right into his routes. He is going to be a very tough match up this spring.

The other True Freshman, TE T.J. Thomas showed the athletic ability we saw in high school. Thomas, a High School Three-Star WR now playing Tight End for the Noles will unquestionably be a mismatch for defenders at that position. He's big, physical, and has very very soft hands. He has a chance to compete for playing time at TE this season as the TE room isnt as talented as the WR room. This will definately be one to watch.

        WHAT ABOUT DEFENSE?

One defender that really jumped out at us on defense was DE Robert Tate. The 6'4" 280 pound Redshirt Sophomore DE showed life from the spot that became vacant this spring as former Seminole Sharaad Bonner moved on to the NFL. And in the early portion of the spring, Tate seemed unblockable. Tate looks to start opposite side of DL Zaveri O'Born who has been the leader among sacks the past two years for the Noles.

FRESHMAN DBS STRUGGLE IN DAY ONE

The Speed of the game ultimately is the biggest transition of players from High School to College. Five-Star S Ra'shod Titus and Four-Star DB Blake Boyson had their share of ups and downs in individual drills today. Titus even got beat deep a few times during the passing portions of DB drills also. But even after taking their bumps and bruises, they seemed to start to settle in very well towards the end and really get used to the physicality of this level as well as the speed of this level.

        Freshman Linebacker Shows Upside

The biggest question defensively during the recruiting porcess was ATH David Grier and the statement of him playing MLB in college. Grier was a 4 star Athlete in High School who primarily starred playing receiver. And had multiple offers in college to play receiver. However, FSU Head Coach Cameel Verner envisioned him playing MLB for the Seminoles. At 6'4" 208, Grier has a ways to go to build into the mold of the LB position from a physical stand point. But from an athletic standpoint he has all the tools.

Grier had an up and down period in the tackling drills against the scout team. He struggled mightily. However, his ultimate athletic ability showed in passing drills as he picked off two interceptions and covered tight ends in man to man, and also played tight Zone coverage in space. Which brings to fruition Coach Verners, plan of getting more athletic on defense. If and when Grier physically grows into his frame to play the LB position, we may revisit this recruitment by Verner and really be amazed at it.

Re: FSU: The Rebuild and "the Return" (NCAA 2019 Dynasty)

          SPRING PRACTICE DAY TWO

2nd Day: Full Team work vs Scout Team

The final day of scholarship players against the scout team will be today. FSU got a ton of individual work done in individual drills as well as team drills. A few players have stood out in practice thus far. Tomorrow will be the first day of scholarship on scholarship practices begin. Some of the Freshman are starting to get their feet wet in college and beginning to make plays as a few are attempting to separate themselves from the pack.

          Who is Jonathan Stephens?

          Recruiting Bio

LB Jonathan Stephens (RS FR) 6'3" 232 Sparta, TN

The Redshirt Freshman from Sparta, TN was a highly touted Defensive Back two years ago coming out of High School. The former Rivals 250 prospect had offers from everywhere in the country, but eventually decided the Seminoles was his future destination. But upon arriving onto campus, Head Coach Cameel Verner, Sr. decided Stephens future would not be at Safety in college, but instead playing Linebacker.

"He told me when I got there that in his opinion I would be better playing either Bandit or Spud (ROLB or LOLB). I've kind of played Safety all my life, but I told him whatever gets me on the field the fastest. So I'm all for it" said Stephens.

After deciding to switch from his natural position of Safety to Linebacker, FSU decided to redshirt the former DB. The Linebacker position requires a bit more physicality at this level, and although he would be considered an elite size Defensive Back, he was not quite at the size needed to the Linebacker position. During his redshirt year, Stephens used the off-season wisely and bulked up from 220 pounds to 232 pounds. And says he wants to play in the 235 range this season. And so far, he has caught the eyes of the coaches in two practices so far.

"That number 23 has a bright future ahead of him. He's big, long, fast, and finds the ball very well. He fits exactly into what we need in our defense. Super athletic. He has a really, really, bright future" said Head Coach Cameel Verner, SR.

With 7 teams last season throwing more than 40 attempts per game last season, it makes sense why FSU needs Linebackers that can do multiple things for them, which also includes pass coverage. And Stephens being a former DB helps them in that area of Pass coverage against TEs and some slot guys also. And it looks as if he's taking this spring and using it to his ultimate advantage.

          QUARTERBACK BATTLE CONTINUES

The battle for the starting Quarterback spot for the Florida State Seminoles continues into Day Two. After Redshirt Sophomore QB Clay Tillman seeming to separate himself from the others on Day One, he looked to have an awful day today. He took a few steps back that allowed the other two freshman catch up with him in the process. Tillman was uncharacteristically inaccurate the majority of the afternoon and missed tons of open WRs he normally would hit.

QB Clay Tillman Day Two of Spring Practice

Redshirt Freshman QB B.J. McDaniel remained fairly steady. After two days he's been the most consistent of the three Quarterbacks. He continues to make solid reads, and continues to make the right play when needed. During situational drills, McDaniel time and time again delievered when the team needed the play to be made. So from a consistency standpoint, McDaniel after two days, has been the most consistent Quarterback.

QB B.J. McDaniel Day Two of Spring Practice

Today, even against the scout team, Freshman Sha'dar Walker again struggled immensely. Walker shows flashes of his ability from time to time, but then is brought back to reality and reminds us that he's only a Freshman. Walker is still grooming into the expectations required of the position. And with the success former Heisman Trophy winner Sarderrious Minter had as a True Freshman, it could be very unfair to him in a sense. But Walker still has plenty of time to grow into his own as its still very very early in the spring, but as of now he's clearly struggling.

DEFENSE CONTINUES TO RAMP UP INTENSITY

          Recruit Bio

Redshirt Sophomore Colton Hathaway patiently waited his turn to have an opportunity to be a starter at Florida State. After Redshirting his first year, and being a reserve last season, this year finally gives him an opportunity to be a starter, or atleast rack up more meaningful snaps than last year. And this spring gives him the opportunity to do just that. He's had a very productive spring so far and he's really putting pressure on the coaches to give him the playing time he so dearly is working hard for.

"Colton gives us a bit of versatility on defense. He's fast and plays 1 shell or man very well which is essentially our base. He is a sideline to sideline safety and can match up well also vs players in the slot. He's done everything we've asked of him these last three years and he's just letting it all hang out right now" Said Defensive Backs Coach Charles Harbison.

          Freshman Linebackers Stepping Up

          Recruit Bio

True Freshman Linebacker David Grier has been so impressive these last two days. Although undersized at this stage, Grier has been extremely productive in his first two days in camp. The former High School WR has been playing at an elite level in pass coverage for the Seminoles.

"I tell you what, Number 3, man he's been impressive. I mean, really, really, impressive. His work ethic, his drive, I mean he just doesnt take no for an answer. We expected big things from him but not immediately, you know what i mean? Just watching his competitiveness has been a pleasure thats for sure" Said new Defensive Coordinator Tim Beckman.

Alghouth undersized, Grier gives FSU an element defensively they havent had at the MLB position in pass coverage.

          Recruit Bio

Probably the most impressive all-around Linebacker has been Redshirt Sophomore Rasheed Byrant. He's been all over the field and asserted himself as one of the leaders on defense.

"Bryant has stepped up and is so physical. I mean he doesnt mind sticking his nose in there you know? He'll go to war with anyone." said DC Tim Beckman.

Bryant has been seen flying all over the field on defense, and he's the first defensive player to done the number 0, that was just made legal by the NCAA for players to wear and you really see that 0 flying all over the field on defense.

Reserves Ends Practice on High Note

Although this practice was mainly against scout team players, victories are victories. To end practice, Florida State reserves (Primarily True Freshman or Sophomores) were tasked to make a Redzone stop to end the "game". After the scout team converted a 4th and 1, to keep the drive alive, the reserves had to make a stop and not allow the opposing team to get in the endzone to "win the game".

"We pride ourselves on situational football. Certain situations win games, and you have to understand that adversity comes in all fashions. And its our job as coaches to put our kids in situations to understand how to rise above it and become better football players." Said Head Coach Cameel Verner.

          Recruiting Bio

Two players that stood out in those closing moments were two Redshirt Freshman. LB Rasheed Bryant who we already highlighted earler, and Redshirt Freshman DE Terrance Manson. Manson made plenty of hustle plays that are rarely seen from a Defensive End. And we all know that Head Coach Cameel Verner, loves players that hustle and find the ball.

          Closing Moments of Practice

FSU will resume Day 3 of Spring Practice tomorrow afternoon. Stay tuned for more coverage.

            SPRING PRACTICE DAY THREE

Florida State completed its third practice of the Spring, and for the first time in the spring the Noles competed against scholarship players. The first two practices the Offense and Defensive units worked against Scout team players, so this was the first day that coaches were actually able to gauge what they had to work with when it came to 'good on good'. Head Coach Cameel Verner Sr had a bit to say when it came to today's practice:

"We had one heck of a day, but a long way to go. It's still early, still working out some things here and there. There's a lot of competition going on. That's really what we want to see. Competitiveness. The more you compete the more things you see. And that's one thing I wont take away from our guys thus far, even the young guys. They are working their tail off. We preach to them, every snap matters. Every blade of grass matters. And it was refreshing to see them get after it. Tomorrow will definitely tell an entire book of a story."

Tomorrow will be the first Scrimmage of the spring for the Noles.

RB Zaleel Hamby Making Most of Opportunity

            Recruit Bio

RB Zaleel Hamby (6'1" 223), Junior
Coming into the spring, Junior Running Back Zaleel Hamby was pegged as the starter going into the Fall season. That was, until the shocking transition of Heisman Trophy winner Sarderrious Minter making the move from Quarterback to Running Back. Now Hamby finds himself in a third year battle to fight for the starting Running Back role.

"I'm just doing what the coaches ask of me. I understand what I bring to the backfield, and we honestly have a bunch of guys who bring a different aspect to the team that play Running Back. Even 'Dee' (Sarderrious) brings a whole different swag to the backfield." says Hamby

"We just all have do what our job entails for that particular situation. I know what I can do, the others know what they can do. I think we have the most dangerous stable in the country."

Hamby has had a solid career so far although he hasnt been a full time starter at FSU. The former Five-Star running back is an Elite receiver out of the backfield. In his first two season at FSU, he has a total of 98 catches for 1,141 yards. NFL scouts are drooling over his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. But now with Sarderrious Minter in the fold, this spring will determine if he will have an increased role as previously thought or not.

Junior RB Zaleel Hamby looks to earn the starting role this Spring

            PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: CB Ja'Carius Kidd

            Recruit Bio

            CB Ja'Carius Kidd (6'2", 213) ,Sophomore
One of the most complete corners maybe in the past 20 or even 30 years is Freshman All-American Ja'Carius Kidd. The younger sibling of NFL All-Pro(And former Cameel Verner recruit) WR Aldarius Kidd, has taken the NCAA by storm just like his brother. Aldarius rewrote the Georgia Tech record books while there, and still , 4 years removed from college, holds every receiving record there is in Atlanta. The younger brother Kidd, is now doing an astronomical job playing cornerback for the National Champion Seminoles.

"I've been around a lot of players. Aldarius was and very much still is a gamer. But his brother is also up there. Ja'Carius can play with the best of them. And he's such a humble kid. So humble. Way more humble than his big brother," Verner said with a laugh "But he is light years ahead of where he should be as far as the learning curve of the position goes. Sky is the absolute limit for him."

Kidd has the highest PFF grade of any returning corner this season, and by far had the highest PFF grade last season. He was the least targeted starting corner, while giving up 0 touchdowns and only 6 receptions.

            Player Spotlight: LB Ty'Shall McBee

            Recruit Bio

            LB Ty'Shall McBee(6'5", 255) ,Redshirt Sophomore
The former Four-Star standout had a good reserve role last year as the back up outside Linebacker Position. He even played Mike (Inside) Linebacker roles also. The versatile Linebacker has the athletic ability to play multiple spots in the defense for FSU, but he's really settling into his Linebacker role for the Noles. And he has really stood out in the first three practices.

"Number 5 has been flying all over the place, shooting gaps and he's so explosive. Very hard to handle. When his assignment is "see ball, get ball" that's when he's really a nightmare. He's so athleticly gifted. He can do so many things for us. " said Coach Verner.

At 6'5", 253 pounds, McBee really hit the weight room hard after coming in to FSU at 220 pounds. As a redshirt Sophomore, McBee is looking to push for a starting role, or atleast an increased role in a detail filled defense ran by Tim Beckman.

"He's a gifted player thats for sure. We're exploring options trying him in different positions in different sets, just trying to give the Offense a different perspective and a different look. He can play so many different areas for us to do so many different things. He's that kind of a special athlete that's for sure" said Defensive Coordinator Tim Beckman.

                2031 GARNET AND GOLD GAME

This was one of the more entertaining Garnet and Gold games in recent memory. The Defenses played very well in spurts, and the offenses played well in spurts as well. We got a really good glimpse of the future with some of the some of the new faces on the roster.

"We completed a very good Spring today. The guys fought hard, they competed, it was overall a good day. Something to build on. Of course, we will analyze the tape, and find ways to improve. But I love the way the guys battled all spring long. It's very encouraging" said Head Coach Cameel Verner, Sr.

                QUARTERBACK BATTLE

Head Coach Cameel Verner declined to give a detailed opinion on the Quarterbacks to say, with a very vague response.

"They played hard. They all did what we asked of them, and they all competed." he said.

Well, we all know that is coach speak. But that will not stop us, from forming our own opinons on what we saw live today. For the most part, Redshirt Sophomore QB Clay Tillman took the show early. But late in the game he took a few steps backwards. Tillman statistically did have the best showing of the QBs finishing 17/29 310 yards and two touchdowns. However he did throw 4 interceptions in the second half.

True Freshman QB Sha'dar Walker showed with time he could really be a problem for defenses. The former Five-Star QB went 9/19 122 yards with 2 TDs but he also threw 2 Interceptions as well. However, Walker did add 85 yards rushing on the ground.

Redshirt Freshman B.J. McDaniels struggled mightily in the game, but he did make some plays that shows why the coaches believe in him. However he still has a lot of work to do to become consistent as they would like him to be. McDaniels finished the day going 8/22 for 127 yards 1 TD and 2 Ints. However, he did add 45 yards rushing on the ground.

Overall, the Quarterbacks didnt separate themselves much in the spring, and it looks as if the Quarterback battle may not be settled until the Noles get well into Fall Camp.

                SPRING GAME TOP PERFORMERS

Outside of the noticable Quarterback debacle, FSU had some guys that truly stood out in the game that we could definately watch for moving into fall camp. Here are the top 10 performers of the Spring Game from today, and surprisingly, a number of Freshman are on this list.

NOLES AGREE TO HOME AND HOME WITH WISCONSIN

The Florida State Seminoles have agreed to a Home and Home series with the Wisconsin Badgers for this season, the 2031 and 2032 seasons. The Seminoles will take on the Badgers in October of this season at home in Tallahassee, Florida. In 2033, they will travel to Camp Randall to take on the Badgers.

"We are very excited about this opportunity against a high profile team. We will definately have our work cut out for us not only against them, but throughout the entire year. We just have to put on our hard hats and go to work." Said Head Coach Cameel Verner, Sr.

The Badgers are curently ranked #24 in the initial Pre-Season polls, while the two time defending Champion Seminoles are ranked #2.

                    2031 CONFERENCE ALIGNMENT

The 2031 Season is just days away and here we will highlight the current conferences.

                    ACC

We start out notably with the ACC where FSU currently sits. The ACC finished with a respectable 5-4 Bowl record last season, which was tied for second with the SEC. The ACC begins the 2031 season with 3 Ranked teams, all in the Atlantic Divison with Florida State. #2 Florida State, #4 Clemson, #22 Louisville.

Predicted Title Game: Florida State vs West Virginia

                    AAC

Next up, is the American Athletic Conference. Most deem this the toughest conference in College football as of today, and rightfully so. The AAC had a bowl record last season of 8-2 which topped all conferences. The AAC leads all conferences with 5 top 25 teams in the Pre Season Polls. #1 Georgia Tech, #12 Nebraska, #13 Arkansas, #21 Wisconsin, #24 Notre Dame.

Georgia Tech has been a power house for the last Decade and a half for the most part with the better part of that being led by now Florida State Head Coach Cameel Verner. The American Conference has definitely been one of the nations more competitive conferences since the Conference realignment 10 years ago.

Predicted Title Game: Georgia Tech vs Arkansas.

                    BIG 12

The big 12 has seem a rise with the additions of SMU, USF and North Texas. North Texas has become a power in the state with Texas Tech struggling the past couple of years. Big 12 has two teams in the top 25 with Oklahoma and Texas, and the Red River Rivalry will be one to watch for this year yet again.

Predicted Title Game: Oklahoma vs North Texas

                    B1G

The Big 10 had the worst bowl season of any other conference finishing the post season 1-7. With Northern Illinois, Cincinatti, Boston College and UCONN being the most recent additions to the Big 10, the conference play has gotten a bit stiffer, however the B1G cannot consistently deliver out of conference. Ohio State is the lone wolf in delivering big time out of conference wins.

Predicted Title Game: Ohio State vs Rutgers

                    PAC 12

Over the past few years, the Pac 12 has done a ton of shuffling around with its conference with the additions of Hawai'i, San Jose State, Boise State, San Diego State, BYU and Utah State.

With 4 teams in the top 25 , PAC 12 definitely has some talent to do something nationally. However, the PAC 12 disappointed the conference with a 3-5 bowl record last season. They definitely plan to improve that dramatically this season. With so many teams in the conference that could win, it's harder to predict the title game here, but Arizona seems to be the most consistent of the conference.

Predicted Title Game: Arizona vs San Diego State

                    SEC

Last but not least, we have the SEC. With the additions of Southern Miss, TCU and Virginia Tech the SEC has returned to form with its southern tradition of hard nosed football. The SEC tied for second with the ACC in last years bowl games finishing 5-4. Kentucky was a playoff team last season even though they lost to power house Georgia Tech in the Semi Finals.

And with the competition floating around, its very hard to predict who will come out of the SEC.The SEC has 6 top 25 teams in the preseason rankings. After a dissapointing 2029 campaign, Alabama had a very good 2030 season with former #1 high school recruit QB Karter Gold under center and has Alabama looking very good going into his second season.

Predicted Title Game Kentucky vs Alabama.

The 2031 Season is here. And the first recruiting hotboard is now available for the kickoff to the new season. In honor of the "insta-commit" feature, those players are considered commitments in the Summer of the Off-Season similar to real life. So, with that said, let the new season begin.

                      HOUSE RULES

                      Spoiler

                      OFFENSE

The National Championship Seminoles return one of the most dynamic offenses in the country. However, the roster will look a lot different, with former Heisman Trophy winner Sarderrious Minter moving to Running Back. The Noles are looking to add depth as they attempt to three-peat as defending National Champions.

QB: With FSU opting to move former Hesiman Trophy winner Sarderrious Minter to Running Back, FSU only has 3 scholarship QBs on its roster. B.J. McDaniel took a redshirt last season, while Five-Star Freshman Sha'Dar Walker is in the fold. Returning starter Clay Tillman is fighting for starting reps, however he is now a Redshirt Sophomore.
                      Needs: 0 to 1

RB: FSU has 5 Running Backs on its roster, however 2 of them are Juniors who could possibly opt to leave early after the season. FSU likes to keep a steady number of backs on the roster for depth purposes.
                      Needs: 1 or 2

WR: FSU is completely stacked here, however it has a number of Juniors at WR who very well at this stage are considered high draft picks. Jamar Reid and Kennard Thomas are considered Round 1 recievers, while Benito Tipton could also possibly be a high draft pick. Reciever is still not considered a position of need, but if not corrected soon it very well can be.
                      Needs: 1 to 2

TE: FSU has 4 Tight Ends on its roster with one being a Junior.
                      Needs: 0

OL: FSU always wants to improve at this area either in the depth area, or talent. Florida State has done a tremendous job of filling talent and needs on its line, at this point they are just looking for that talent to develop. The OL is still relatively young with only 3 Juniors of the bunch, however none seem to have current grades to possibly be early entrees in the NFL draft.
                      Needs: 1 to 2

                      Current Commits:
                      RB Nic Silva-Bendera 5’8” 185 Jacksonville, FL
                      #3 RB, #26 Overall
Silva-Bendera is a very explosive and twichy player. He's smaller than the normal Running Back that Head Coach Cameel Verner likes, but his explosiveness is something that is hard to ignore. He is a homerun threat and is a 4.3 runner. Big start to the recruiting season with this pick up.

                      RB Zaire Hampton 6’1” 217 Cutler Ridge,FL
                      #13 RE, #85 Overall
Another top 100 back pledged to the Seminoles and its Big Bruiser Zaire Hampton. Zaire is the "thunder" of the two early commitments so far due to the physical nature of his play. He's a nice addition by nature because he fits the scheme of the FSU Offense.

OT Lance Mason 6’5” 306 Kissimmee, FL
                      #12 OT, #210 Overall
Lance gives FSU a lot of versatility with this pickup being he's played 4 different spots on the OL in High School. He's able to play both Guard and Tackle spots so it gives FSU freedom to recruit specifically in other areas on the line this offseason.

                      OFFENSIVE TARGETS

WR Darcy Miller 5’11” 190 Baltimore, MD
                      #1 WR, #2 Overall
Why I want: Elite athlete, elite playmaker, point blank period. He's one of the most dangerous players in this cycle. He just makes plays. He's a jitterbug in open space and just makes plays vertically.

RB Vontae Marshall 5’11” 190 Marietta, GA
                      #1 WR, #4 Overall
Why I want: Marshall is an absolute stud. He has so much speed and for his size its unreal. He already owns the Georgia state rushing record and he hasnt even played a down his Senior year. Crazy stat? In the first round of the playoffs, Marshall had 8 Carries 434 yards 8 Touchdowns. He's simply explosive.

ATH Curtis Reddick 6’0” 185 St. Petersburg, FL
                      #3 ATH, #20 Overall
Why I want: Reddick is a big time athlete that can play a plethora of different areas. He can play any WR spot or any DB spot. It's unsure what FSU is recruiting him as. So for now we we will list him as a WR on the hot board.

                      QB Ko'Dallas Avery 6’2” 180 Miami, FL
                      #4 QB, #85 Overall
Why I want: FSU has 3 scholarship Quarterbacks and would like to add some depth and prepare for the future as well. Avery is a dynamic playmaker and is a very good passer as well. Led Booker T Washington to a state championship his Junior season.

QB John Leak 6’4” 225 Merced, CA

                      #8 QB, #183 Overall
Why I want: Leak s a very polished passer from the West Coast. And just like current Seminole Clay Tillman, he's a coaches son. So schematically nothing would need to change with the signing.

WR Nick Williams Jr 6’4” 182 Tamarac, FL
                      #7 WR, #42 Overall
Why I want: Williams is a legacy recruit with his dad playing at FSU (XBOX NCAA 2006 Dynasty). The elder Williams was a dynamic playmaker and his son seems to be following in similar footsteps.

WR Shebazz Blades 6’5” 195 Tampa, FL
                      #27 WR, #137 Overall
Why I want: A tall rangy Receiver with a huge catch radius. Also plays basketball. Is a huge asset in the redzone and vertically down field.

                      G Cedric Heath 6’6” 321 Easley, SC
                      #14 G, #255 Overall
Why I want: Theres a theme here with the interior lineman on the target board. Bigger. And Heath also brings a ton of size to the position. He is strictly a guard as he is not as athletic as the other guys on the board, but hes a road grader and FSU loves that about him.

OT Sean Lamb6'6” 330 Jasmine Estates, FL

                      #2 OT, #86 Overall
Why I want: Very athletic lineman that could add to the Tackle depth. FSU has good starting tackles but the reserves have yet to be proven. Lamb could help in this area moving forward.

OT Kory Thurman 6’5” 304 Naples, FL

                      #4 OT, #103 Overall
Why I want: A Road Grader of an offensive lineman, and has the ability to play Guard. The versatility is welcomed.

OT Sam Summers 6'4” 332 Berea, KY

                      #5 T, #112 Overall
Why I want: FSU is recruiting him as a Guard. has great size to play on the interior, but great footwork to go along with it.

OG Atari McBride 6'8” 321 Mount Sterling, KY

                      #2 G, #39 Overall
Why I want: McBride is a mountain of a man. And is also a very good interior guard who is a true road grader and could be a day 1 starter for any program.

OT Ronald Morgan 6'8” 330 Rock Hill, SC

                      #10 T, #189 Overall
Why I want: FSU likes big rangy athletic lineman and Morgan fits that bill. Will be tough to beat out hometown favorite Clemson here, but they love the upside of Morgan non the less.

                      DEFENSIVE HOT BOARD

We run a 3-3-5 Defense and size is a premium up front especially on the Defensive Line. With FSU also being very multiple in some formations we need to continue to get Lineman and Pass Rushers who can do multiple things for us on defense for the defense to flourish.

                      Roles for this Defense:
                      Spoiler

                      BREAKDOWN
DE: Filled some good talent in this area but there are a few players who could opt to leave for the NFL after this season.
                      Need: 2 to 3

NT: Depth is pretty good here and we want to keep it that way. With one person being a Junior, the Nose position needs to stay stacked.
                      Need: 1

Spud/Bandit(OLB) This is where our hybrid pass rushers and coverage specialist are required , and FSU did a good job addressing that area. However, there are a lot of players that are slated to leave early here.
                      Need: 2

Mike: With an emerging Freshman and some Redshirt freshman, this went from a position that lacked depth to possibly a strong point in the defense.
                      Need: 1

Hawk: FSU has done a good job recruiting this position. It has one guy in this position that could possibly leave early, however it has backups that are ready to take over.
                      Need: 1

Ace: We have built decent depth in this area , but an injury or two can really hurt here.
                      Need: 1 to 2

Corner: This is possibly the deepest position on the team in terms of talent, depth and experience. Isaac Boles could leave early , and is the only corner that is expected to possibly be an early draftee.
                      Need: 1 to 2

Free This is a position that has gotten very deep. No one is slated to leave early due to draft.
                      Need: 0

                      DEFENSIVE TARGETS

                      DT Damba Bolden 6’4” 300 Compton,CA
                      #1 DT , #1 Overall
Why I want: Bolden is an elite player and extremely athletic for his size..
The Plan: If we can land him, he would be a perfect fit for our Defense as he can play multiple spots. He can play both DE and NT. Very athletic and very versatile.

DE Alaadin Bouye 6’4” 220 Clarksville, TN
                      #1 MLB , #5 Overall
Why I want: A sideline to sideline player. Is extremely good tackling in space and even better in coverage, a true hybrid linebacker.
The Plan: Can play any of the 3 Linebacker spots.

DE Marcus Moss 6’6” 265 Clarksville, TN
                      #1 DE , #9 Overall
Why I want: Plays at the same High School as Kevin Atkins, and Moss is a stud on the defensive line. Good pass rusher, good in run support, elite size.
The Plan: He literally can be an every down DE. He isnt a situational player. He fits the system well and can do a lot of things for us on the front line.

DT Korey Dean 6’5” 284 Dallas, TX
                      #2 DT , #13 Overall
Why I want: Dean is an elite defensive lineman. Also versatile and can play different spots on the Defensive Line.
The Plan:DE or DT. Hes quick and strong enough to play DT in 4 lineman sets, or DE in normal sets.

ATH Kenrell Davis 6’4” 225 Winter Park, FL
                      #1 ATH , #15 Overall
Why I want: The #1 Athlete in the country can literally play anywhere on defense other than Nose or DT.
The Plan:Just get him signed and figure out where to put him. He can literally play anywhere.

                      DE Travis Cobbs 6’5” 250 Parsippany-Troy, NJ
                      #2 DE , #18 Overall
Why I want: Travis Cobbs is a big time end who can fit in any system. His playstyle doesnt warrant him being an interior guy, but could be situationally.
The Plan: Easy. He will be a DE in this system and could very well possibly be an every down DE.

CB Thomas Spiller 5’11” 190 Brownsville, FL
                      #1 CB , #25 Overall
Why I want: The lone five-star corner in the class of 2031, and he is defintely worth being that.
The Plan: Corner would be his best fit but he could also be very very good at Hawk also.

DE Eric Patton 6’7” 280 Central Heights, AZ
                      #15 DE , #217 Overall
Why I want: A very big end who can slide to the middle situationally.
The Plan: DE will be his main position.

DT Robert DeChe 6’4” 270 Tallulah, LA
                      #3 DT , #36 Overall
Why I want: Hes a big physical and mean lineman. He can play the interior or exterior on the line..
The Plan: Would be moved to DE. He is a DE all the way in our scheme that can move inside in certain sets.

DT Aaron Thomas 6’4” 313 Vidalia, GA
                      #8 DT , #96 Overall
Why I want: Thomas is a very very strong kid. Big mean lineman who creates havoc on the interior.
The Plan: Is a Nose Tackle all the way.

DT Desmond Callahan < 6’4” 334 Dublin, GA
                      #14 DT , #237 Overall
Why I want: Plays in an odd front in High School so playing Nose in college would come naturally.
The Plan:Nose Tackle without a doubt.

                      CB Jamarcus Daniels
                      5’11” 175 Midfield, AL
                      #15 CB, #294 Overall
Why I want: A gritty Corner. Undersized, but plays the ball very well in the air. Can play a couple different spots on the back end of our defense..
B]The Plan:[/B] Corner, or Hawk would be a good fit for him.

                      S Shemar Simpson 6’2” 216 Immokalee, FL
                      #2 S , 93 Overall
Why I want: Athletic guy who can cover a lot of ground. Has good speed for his size and read and reacts pretty well.
The Plan: He can play either Ace or Free, or move to Bandit or Spud Linebacker spots. Hes a pretty special athlete that can give us some versatility.

                      [SIZE="3"]ATH Chris Davis 6'6" 217 Miami, FL
                      #19 ATH , #260 Overall
Why I want: Davis albeit being 6'6" runs a sub 4.5/40, and can play mostly anywhere.
The Plan: He has unreal burst as an edge rusher but is athletic enough to play Linebacker.

ATH Marion Whitehead 6’6” 222 Monroe, LA
                      #177 CB, #13 Overall
Why I want: His dad is an FSU legacy, and his brother Oliver Whitehead is already on board at FSU as a TE. Marion just like his dad who was an All American at FSU as a LB can also play the LB spot and is extremely athletic being a three sport star.
The Plan: Could play a number of different positions on the defense.

QB STARTER ANNOUNCED AS SCHEDULE IS RELEASED

The starting Quarterback for the Florida State Seminoles has been revealed as FSU prepares for it's season opener at home. Coach Cameel Verner Sr has announced that Redshirt Sophomore Clay Tillman will take the snaps under center. Redshirt Freshman B.J. McDaniel will serve as the teams Second Team Quarterback, while True Freshman and former Five-Star QB Sha'Dar Walker will serve a special role in specific packages.

                        High School Profile

Tillman served as Florida States starting Quarterback towards the tail end of last season starting for 4 games including the two College Football playoff games, as Sarderrious Minter was supsended at the end of the year missing the final 2 regular season games. Tillman finished the season completing 55% of his passes, but had 11 Touchdowns to 2 interceptions.

This move comes after Heisman Trophy winner Sarderrious Minter makes the transition from Quarterback, to starting Running Back for the Seminoles. Minter last season at Quarterback completed 59% of his passes for 3,573 yards and 45 touchdowns with 15 interceptions. However, he also led the team in rushing with 863 yards, good for 7.7 a carry at QB.

                        2031 SCHEDULE RELEASED

Florida State opens the season at home vs MAC opponent Ball State. Ball State finished last season missing a bowl game at 4-8. However, Ball State this season has Ohio State transfer and former Four-Star QB Miles Kettle at QB this season as they look to resurge a struggling offense. That game is set to kick off at 6:30 at Doak Campbell Stadium on the ACC Network/ESPN.

                            UP NEXT: PITT (0-0)
                            7:00 PM/ET ESPN

Florida State moves on to Week 2 of the season starting ACC play vs Pitt. Although FSU already has one game under their belt, Pitt will be opening their season with this game.

Pitt lost starting Quarterback Phillip LaCoss who lead the Panthers to an ACC Championship appearance last season and eventually losing to Clemson 33-19 in the game. Junior QB Tony Montgomery will replace LaCoss who was drafted in the 5th round of the NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. Pitt's offense poses a big threat with big rangy WRs. Junior Willie Meeks (6'6", 225) and Junior Chris Butler (6'4" , 217) are the returning players from last seasons team. Meek's who is pegged as top NFL Draft prospect has sneaky speed and very good hands to go with his big frame.

The Pitt Offensive Line lost 3 starters from last years Coastal Division Champion team, so they will be breaking in some new faces in game one. Defensively, Pitt has some very good players to watch out for. Preseason All American Cornerback Art Cronin(6'0" 190) will for sure be matched up on Jamar Reid. Behind him will also be All Conference selections at Safety in Gerald Harris (6'0" 185) and Alex Spencer (6'5" 210)

Last season, Pitt's defense finished in the top 20 in Total Defense and Top 15 in Scoring defense.

Week 3 is already upon us and Florida State is set to travel to UCF for an epic ACC matchup that weighs heavily on the Atlantic standings. The Seminoles (2-0 overall, 1-0 in ACC) has had an up and down two game season thus far but find themselves in the drivers seat as the #1 team in the country with Georgia Tech losing to Kentucky this past Saturday.

UCF (0-0 overall, 0-0 in ACC) will open their season in conference play versus the Seminoles as former Five-Star Sophomore QB Devaris Russell leads the charge for the Knights. Russell had a amazing Freshman campaign completing 63% of his passes, throwing for 3,245 yards and added 727 yards rushing at Quarterback.

"Russell is a very dynamic and active Quarterback. He gave us some issues last year, and with another year under his belt, we expect even more than last year. We've got our hands full and our guys have to understand that and stay within the process. It's going to take all 11 players to keep him under wraps" said Defensive Coordinator Tim Beckman.

His top WRs return in Kelden Fontenot (6'0" , 195) and Shannon Rowe (5'10", 195) as the leaders of the receiving corps. Rowe finished last season with 46 catches for 654 yards and 5 touchdowns for the Knights.

On defense, the Noles will have to account for Redshirt Sophomore LB/DE Jarome Alvarez (6'5" 242). Alvarez is a premier pass rusher and came on late last season for the Knights finishing his last five games with eight (8) sacks. Senior DT Anthony Johnson (6'2" , 292) will also be accounted for as most mock drafts have him pegged as a late 3rd round pick.
