GAME RECAP
Coach Matt Miller had done it.. Completing Goal #1 (Beat Michigan) Goal #2 (Win Big Ten Title) and Goal #3 (Make Playoffs).. Now the question is when and how does this story end..
Oregon opened up the game with the ball and quickly scored as SR RB Sean Kowalksi (85) caps a 7 play drive with a 34 yd TD run.
Ohio State however answers back with a touchdown of their own as AJ Breida hits JR WR Terron Pappoe (73 yds) with what would be the first of 5 touchdowns on the day (7-7).
After forcing the Ducks to punt OSU would take the lead with a Monty Carty 30 yd FG to make it (10-7) as we head to the 2nd Quarter.
Breida would own the Ducks in the 2nd Quarter finding Pappoe for another score to extend the lead to (17-7) and then after SO CB Von Ibrahim picks off Oregon SO QB Stephen Blunt (84) Breida finds SR TE Ryan Pierre on a 21 yd scoring strike to make it (24-7) as we head into the half.
Ohio State opened up the 2nd half with the ball and Breida went right back to work hitting Jabu Gayton on a 16 yd touchdown to cap a 9 play drive to make it (31-7)..
Oregon would answer back with a 10 play drive ending with a 1 yd Jet Sweep to SO WR Richard Goings (82) to cut the lead back to (31-14).
Still 31-14 as we enter the 4th, Oregon starts the 4th Quarter scoring settling for a 25 yd FG to make it (31-17). Ohio State responds with Pounds 5th TD of the day as he completes the Bucks longest drive of the day (14 plays) with a 4 yd TD pass to Guyton as OSU extends the lead to (38-17) with just 3:12 to play in the game.
Down by 3 scores, you could tell the Ducks sorta raised the white flag of surrender as Blunt leads a non-hurry up offense down the field. Oregon would manage to convert a 4th and 5 to keep the drive alive and they did find the endzone as SO HB Tye Ingram (77) caps off the drive with a 15 yd TD run but with only 1:30 to play this game was all but over.
The Ducks would try and kick the onside, but the Buckeyes recover and Miller not taking any chances would have the team run off the remainder of the clock...
Blunt finished the day (21/29 (72%) for 303 yds with the 1 INT in the loss.
