I rage quit every single time I try to play the game. Every run I call gets blown up in the backfield either by backside pursuit or a D-lineman blowing up the O-line. I don't even put my finger on the turbo button in the hopes that everyone who says that's the cause will be right. I've tried "feathering" the stick. I make sure the hat count is in my favor. I mix up my play calls. But I know if I try to call an inside run on 3rd and 1 there's not a chance I won't lose 3 yards. Even if it's called in a 3-Wide set with the defense in dime with 2 down linemen. One of them will make the play. I've tried lowering sliders, raising sliders, lowering difficulty, lowering speed, raising speed. I've tried playing with Dallas even tho I hate them. Invariably my number one RB will be at about 17 yards on 9 carries by halftime because I have to throw so much. I'm worried that if I do buy it eventually I will throw my controller through my TV like I've come close to doing already. I just have to let it go. Again, I'm glad for everyone who has figured it out. I wish I could.

You neglected to mention what team, it seems this year there's a HUGE difference in teams.

Last night I ran for over 200 yards with Zeke and the Cowboys then the next game with Drake and the Dolphins was lucky to hit 20 yards

Re: Anyone find any semblance of a running game yet?

Played as the Jags against Philly last night while the game was installing. Default All-Madden with Simulation Settings.

I couldn't gain any yardage with Fournette early in the game. I believe I was at 6 carries for 4 yards after the first quarter. As expected the Eagles were loading up with 8 in the box. In the 2nd quarter I started to have some success throwing the ball on slants to my WR's and seam routes with Seferian Jenkins.

I also ran some draw plays with Yeldon that worked VERY well. Later in the 2nd quarter I was able to bust three consecutive 10+ yards runs with Fournette. He finished the game with 23 carries for 76 yards.

All in all the running game was PERFECT!!! In real life Fournette averaged above 4 YPC in three games the entire season. The Jags weren't a threat through the air, so teams made sure to load up on shutting down the running game.

I lost the game 19-10 in a defensive battle. This was a dramatic improvement from last years game I wasn't expecting a challenge like this on default All-Madden.

maybe the diffrence is Dallas Oline, they are better than others, im guessing that helps. after 70 plus roster moves etc between preseason and week 1 my oline is 90/72/81/78/82 ovrs, and only one of those was traded for. you look at starting oline rosters and dallas shines

The line *IS* the difference because in MUT I was playing with a bunch of 68 OVR type guys and couldn't run at all and was getting very frustrated so I went and spent some of my 50,000 in coins that I had gotten with my preorder on lineman and upped my line to about 78-81 and WOW...I was then able to run for 100 yards.

This year the line play is huge and if you don't have a good line you're not going to be able to run. Overall it's very realistic.

Now with that being said there are still some BS plays where people don't block right or whatever and you're caught immediately because of faulty AI on blocking so there is definitely that but hopefully some of those plays can be fixed. Until then I just plan to avoid them.

I’ve been a rather large critic of the cpu run game and for good reason, there is none on AP default because of various glitches. However, I played users head to head last night (ps4) and the game played brilliantly, running and all. I mean it was truly a thing of beauty, and gives me great hope that what we are experiencing in one player CFM is truly an AI issue and will be patched up and or tuned.

Anyone who says the cpu has a running game on AP default please link your twitch and I’ll be sure to tune in. Mine is kiddlex and I’ll do the same. Maybe we can find the discrepencies.

Use speed boost once you get to the open field by feathering the button.

Zeke had 85 through 3 quarters, but I must admit I am not the best at defense.

I was having a really hard time running the ball.....

Then did the drills, worked on them for about an hour.

On All Pro agains CPU it has helped big time.
Online, still difficult but better than before.

                      Biggest change?
I DO NOT PRESS TURBO TILL I GET TO SECONDARY....(if ever).

Works like a charm specially against CPU.

This is a huge part of it. I thought something was up with the game and then, oh yeah, the Broncos' offensive line is garbage in-game.

I also realized, which helped, I need to make very small movements on the stick. Large changes in direction just slaughter momentum.

After my lengthy screed last night I of course fired Madden back up today and played out the last of my 10 hours. At half-time of my first game with the Steelers Bell had 9 carries for 82 yards. The long was 24 yards, so even taking that out it's 8 carries for 58 yards. That is the best I've ever done and very realistic as far as I'm concerned. The only thing I changed was game type from Simulation to Arcade. My question is which game type has everyone else been using? I never tried anything else because I thought Simulation would give the "best" results, but that was 100% more fun for me.

Up from third base to Huntington
                          They'd sing another victory song"

The reason to not press turbo until you get into the open field is that the D-Line instantly block sheds when you hit it.

Am I wrong for thinking this is absolutely ridiculous? Like is this EA’s way of balancing the game?

Re: Anyone find any semblance of a running game yet?

After just around 4 hours in practice mode on All Madden, I found that in order to run the football effectively in Madden 19, I simply had to use the same techniques I did in Madden 17. I also found out that it now plays out much more realistically.

The following is just one example of what is working for me regarding an inside zone running play. I hope it works for you as well.

At pre-play, read the defense. Don't be afraid to flip your run if you feel you have a more favorable match up on the other side.

At the start of the play, don't look at your HB, look at where you launch point is and how the defensive line is attacking their respective gaps.

At the handoff, quickly identify where your blockers have leverage.

Head for the launch point, going slightly past it and cut with the left stick @ 10 or 2 O'clock (no, it doesn't matter if you go with am or pm.....) and just a split-second afterwards engage sprint. You want to accelerate thru the hole, not before or after.

It takes practice to time this out, but when you get the hang of it, you will be amazed at how good it feels to explode thru the open gap when you cut and burst almost simultaneously.

Yes, there are times when I experienced "insta-sheds" but for the most part, this technique is serving me well.

I also need to add that I tried to hurdle a defender in the open field and..... lets just say Zeke may now have some issues with fatherhood thanks to my poor timing.
