Oh no! I never even thought of that. I guess thats just a risk I'm willing to take. What can I say I just like to live life on the edge. Going with the One we live and die with our internet.

from what I read, that probably wont happen unless they redesign the system. the wireless controllers connect to the kinect.

Kudos to Mircosoft if the reports of dropping their internet requirements and all restrictions on used games is accurate, fairly swift decision but probably for the better if the pre-order numbers are anywhere near accurate.

I don't mind Kinect, myself. It was MS' DRM policies and general pompous attitude that turned me off. Them dropping DRM has got my attention.

Thats a shame, they could do work if that wasnt a mandate. Now their biggest issue would be price difference. But thats better than what they were up against before (assuming reports are true)

                Doubt it.

It's really not that hard to program a flag for a game that you shared and make you connect to the internet to see if you currently have the license for it or if someone else is playing it.

There is a happy medium between "NO SHARING FOR U" and "CHECK IN EVERY DAY IF YOU WANT TO PLAY."

Obviously you'd have to connect for the sharing and such, I'm not one to advocate piracy but making it optional is the easy route to take here.

I can play offline all day without sharing. I decide to share "Game A" with "Friend A". That game gets flagged as being shared. If he wants to play it, he has to connect to the internet when he starts it up. His account is now flagged for that game (after the inital connection check) and my account would be unable to play it. Every time he wants to play Game A (which is still my game) he has to connect to the internet to start it up.

Say I want to play Game A. I un-share it, which removes the flag for Game A from his account. He goes to start it up and the internet check (just at the beginning) shows his account isn't flagged for that game anymore. I can now play.

No mandatory 24-hour checks needed, sharing still implemented.

Also: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MS, MAKE THE KINECT OPTIONAL. I don't care if I pay a full $500 dollars with the Kinect bundled. If you allow me to never plug it in, I will buy your system ASAP.

Just hoping it doesn't kill some of the planned features like sharing, yeah. Or if they were already building out those options there's a way to toggle between being able to do that and not and accepting the 'drawbacks' to take advantage of those features.

LOL I already said, I still won't go MS if they make the change and you can find that post several weeks back if you choose. My reason is I figured they would have to make a change due to how bad they will get beat and that is just them crawfishing back on a decision to screw the consumers and now it coming back to bite them in the ***.

Me personally I won't support a company that took that route only to get caught with their hand in the cookie jar. Personally nothing MS can do can win me back. If I could change my OS I would do that also.

They not making these changes for the better of you guys TRUST ME. They are not trying to do the best thing for YOU. They are only looking out for themselves and the almighty dollar.

That might sound bad and you might read that as me just coming off as **** MS. You are darn right, they attempted a under hand approach and I'm glad to see it come back to bite them. You don't screw over the loyal fans and then just pull a whooppppppsieee!!

This is a great day for gamers. Your voice does count for something. Will still hold off on buying the One since MS alienated me by trying to force these things, but either way we all win in this one as competition is needed and will push the industry.

Any bets on EA backpedaling on their online pass now?

EA already has gotten rid of and declared the death of online passes. They also claimed to have nothing to do with MS drm plans.

I doubt they'll even have details on their 180 and will have to make that up now instead of trying to make up answers to policies they have/had .. wtf. 5 months until rollout and it's like they're going to step #1, the drawing board : Plan, goal, and business statement. Only to come out with change policies in detail in 2 months, and possibly change those again a month later depending on feedback. Lol, this will be fun to watch. Can't wait to see if they seem some delays because of something like running into esram issues with this kind of business plan thus far.

Its like walking into your home and a thief has broke in. You catch him in the act and he starts out saying "Put your hands up and give me all your jewelry".
