I still think DRM will be up to the developers. For example I think Forza has a pretty good chance of being a online to play game.

I'm still getting a PS4. They didn't back down for us. They backed down for them.

I'm happy MS caved because it shows the consumer has a voice but also because I think it will force Sony to make the PS4 as good as it can be. Competition is a wonderful thing. Having said all that I will still be going PS4 for a few reasons:

        1. I like what the PS4 brings and enjoyed their exclusives MUCH more this gen.

        2. I want to reward Sony for standing up against this BS in the first place. Of course that's a business decision too, the difference is it was a CORRECT business decision.

        3. Still forced KINECT. Do not want.

        4. I have been left with a very sour taste in my mouth by MS through all this. They tried to sneak one past us IMO and only when it affected their bottom line enough did they react. I really don't get the feeling they care about us at all.

          Exactly what I've been saying.

If MS really wants to have the sharing options and options of digital downloads being traded in online everything they want is still possible. It will take some time obviously to implement a new system for that to take place... but it is possible for them to do it without there being heavy anti-consumer rules as there was previously.

Let the all digital transition happen organically, I bet over the years most gamers connected to the internet will choose to go always Online after the see the benefits that comes with it.
The benefits arent big enough and no one knows if they ever will be. Things like disc-less playback are nice but not necessary. Until digital is cheaper and offers some type of trade in system, people will prefer discs.

Now MS knows we're not biting so there's no more reason to offer the bait.

Huge plus, dedicated servers are going to be a big deal when you talk about 32 v 32.

I had no interest whatsoever for an X1 due to the DRM and pre-oredered a PS4. But now that the DRM is lifted MS has my interest again. I really liked the whole TV integration aspect of the X1, it's the one feature that is completely new and different from last gen that I see myself/family actually using.

I'm going to go out and pre-order today so at least I have that choice available in november if I actually choose to get a next gen system (supposedly EB games here in canada have very limited quantities of pre-orders, so hopefully this news makes them give out more).

Don't forget people in the sticks who don't want to wait 2 days while a game downloads..

I give MS props for listening to the consumers and changing the policies. If they (and Sony) want us to go digital then they need to make it worth our while. Giving us more restrictions for the same $60 is not going to cut it.

Yeah, I couldn't be with anyone that didn't at (the very least) understand gaming.

                              Re: Xbox One

I will initially go with a PS4 but I will be keeping a close eye on the console comparisons. The determining factors to stick with PS4 at this point are:

                              - Price & the amount of people in my leagues going with PS4 next gen

If X1 gets rave reviews about online stability and game performance I will make the transition when I can. (Or have both consoles)

Very please with MS backing off their stance. I think the "you just don't want the future" statements are ridiculous. MS never came out and said why it would be such a great thing. If they had articulated their position and made the attempt to make sure the consumer knew this I'm sure it would have been better received.
