    Re: PlayStation 5

Only remaster/remake or whatever the correct term is I want it to be Bloodborne. Really the only FromSoftware game I've enjoyed. I recently tried replaying it and couldn't do it. 30 fps doesn't always bother me but with that game it really felt off.

Most of the improvements are really only noticeable if you see the 'old' version and the improved versions side-by-side anyway. It's not like I ever thought Horizon Zero Dawn or FF7 Remake looked 'bad' at any point when I played them originally. They were both fine at the time and still are - some improved textures or sharpness is nice, but not particularly noticeable unless you were to run them simultaneously side-by-side.
Double Agree. The bang for your buck difference seems negligible.

I think really old games that many people have probably not played (or not played in 20 years) that are great core games, but need to be updated for the modern times, are fine. But the number of games that fall into that category is pretty small, and pretty much they've all been addressed.

It also depends on what the 'remaster' is. Is it basically some up-resolution and better textures? That's a hard pass for me. If, however, they do a truly from-the-ground-up remake of a game with essentially all modern tech, I think that's a different thing. For example, Nintendo's remake/remaster of "Link's Awakening" is pretty much the apex example of how to make an old game new again (performance issues on the Switch notiwthstanding).

I agree. I'm not 100% on the 30FPS is unplayable. I never had any issues with 30fps until I truly started experiencing 60fps games. There's some games I wouldn't have any issues with and there's others that I will. I'm usually a Performance mode gamer. But, I had no issue choosing the 4k40 VRR mode for Spider-Man 2. But, there are certain PS4 games that I just can't play because it's 30fps. Like I wanted to play Mafia Definitive Edition. But at 30fps, it just feels so sluggish. Batman Arkham City is a game I really wanted to replay because it's my favorite of the Trilogy and still holds up well visually. But at 30fps, the combat system isn't as responsive as you want, especially after experiencing the Spider-Man combat systems.

But when it comes to the PS5 Pro, it's all up to developer's discretion. Most of these games didn't see an update on the base PS5, so what's the incentive to do it now for the Pro.

But, the Remaster phase needs to die down, especially for games that still hold up very well. That, TLOU 2 Remaster, Death Stranding and GoT Definitive Edition. The Uncharted Legacy of Theives Remaster wasn't necessary. I remember playing Uncharted 4 on the PS5 when it first was on the PS Plus Collection and remembering how well it looked. It just feels like a cash grab. I rather those resources go to new titles or IP. If they are going to Remaster games, go for the PS3/early PS4 titles that aren't easily accessible. MGS 4, Uncharted Drake Collection, Resistance, Infamous, etc
or at least give us resolution boosts/60fps patches. Which in a way are kinda like remasters.

I am really big on remasters. I play a LOT of old games. Just wish we got more. I need Far Cry 1-2, AC1, GTA IV, MGS4.

Yeah, that's what Shadow of the Tomb Raider did. No pub or marketing, just a 60fps patch just because. I don't know how many publisher are willing to just release a PS5 Pro patch without getting thing out of it.

I agree on those games. I would love to see AC Ezio Collection, GTA 4, MGS 4, Batman Arkham, GOW3 Remaster, RDR2, Infamous, Uncharted Collection to see 60fps patches. I don't even need resolution boosts

When a price isn't listed, you know its expensive lol. I bet $1000-1200

I'm still on the fence about the Pro. I feel confident I could sell my base Ps5 for $400. It's just forking out another $400. It's feels like a luxury(that I can afford). We're already hearing talks about PS6 and likely release window of 2028-2029. So for me, is it worth it for me spening $400 for 4 years. I most likely will. The main justification is that I'll be able to get a lot more for the Pro in 2028, than a base PS5.

I'm old enough that I had an original PS1 when it came out, but I can't say that I fetishize that system enough to want a PS5 cosplaying as a PS1.

But I hope that PS5 Pro is like $5000 lol.

I still have my 20th anniversary gray PS4 controller; I think they fetch a fair amount on eBay now.

Not really interested in the console, but I may have to snag one of the 30th anniversary controllers.

I am going to do my best to get the controller and the PS Portal. I was going to get a Portal anyways, so Ill just wait until this anniversary edition goes on sale.

I would love to just get the Pro, but I cant justify the price for a small upgrade.
