Unplug everything from the surge protector and plug them in one at a time. Usually the component that causes the line can be diagnosed that way.

What you have is a ground loop, and there are some resources online that can help. I had one with my cable box and it was because the outside box (where it comes into the house) had the ground wire loose. I tightened it to the ground post and it eliminated the line immediately.

My dad bought me a HDTV as an early birthday present. It is a 61in RCA rear projection CRT. It is only 1080i but the picture is beautiful. Dish Network installed my HD DVR today. I am watching the Rockies vs. DBacks game and it is just an unbelievable picture.

Also, this is the first time I have had a DVR. The thing is awesome. To all my wrestling buddies, I already have it set to record Raw, ECW, Smackdown and Impact.

Are HDMI cables worth the price of admission, and if so where can I get them for less than $100 a pop?

you'll have arguments from both sides. I personally think its better simply cause its a digital signal vs an analog one (using component). Most wont notice the difference, but if you are a videophile, you will be able to see the advantages that hdmi has.

go to www.monoprice.com . You can find the lowest prices on cables and such.

monoprice.com is the place to get them like bacardi said. I've bought 2 hdmi cables from them with no problem.

don't ever buy one for that much, ever...A $10 is the same as a $100 one, they both do the same thing, don't listen to anyone who tells you different.

Funny that place has a very similar template to monoprice.com. They have the same registrar and are both in the same area…hah in fact the HDMI cable page has the same price and selection, probably the same place. Love monoprice, great prices fair and fast shipping.

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread

I made a post on here a couple of weeks ago about my Samsung plasma. I was wondering about image retention/burn in. I'm friends with the manager of the store where I bought the TV so he told me I could return it if I felt like going with something different. However, he told me that I would not have any problem with burn-in with the new plasma. The older plasmas, maybe, but not the newer ones. He works at Best Buy and he said that the TV's that are used as displays for the XBOX 360 are plasmas. They sit for hours on end sometimes with Madden or racing games on them and they've never had burn-ins, so that is a good sign.

However, here's my deal with my TV. I'm playing a couple of different games right now, NHL 08 and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I've noticed that it literally only takes about 2 minutes for a static image, like the life bars, or an EA Sports logo to stay on my TV. It is VERY, VERY, faint, and the only time you can really see it is when you press the "source" button on the TV and go to a source where there is nothing hooked up (so there is a black screen). After I play another game or watch a movie the image goes away completely. I'm just curious if this is normal. Is this the way the TV will always function? Should I be concerned that an image will eventually stay on my TV? I've only got about 20 days to decide whether I'd like to keep the TV I have (which I really would like to because I love everything about it) or exchange it for something else, maybe an LCD.

I know a lot of people will tell me to get an LCD because they are on the LCD side of the TV wars but I need someone that truly knows. I've read a lot about phosphor (sp?) burn-in and all that stuff, and everything I've read has said that the newer plasmas don't suffer from burn-in unless it is complete neglect, say, leaving the TV on pause for a couple of weeks while you go out of town. Anyway, I'd love to get some more definitive answers from anyone who knows. Especially anyone who has first hand experience or knowledge with this stuff.

                                Thanks.
