Girlfriend and I just saw it. I haven't read any of the books, but she read them all in about a week.
I enjoyed it. It was entertaining and the acting was better than I expected. I have to admit I dropped some tears at two parts... Lol.
My girlfriend said it was one of the better book-to-film adaptations she has seen. She really liked it.

I didn't think it was bad, but in line with the book I don't think it could have been a lot better.
I think keeping it at pg-13 hurt a lot of what it could have been.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

Re: The Hunger Games (movie) - March 23rd
I've never read the books, but my fiance has so I went with her on opening night. It was an okay movie, but I would have liked to have had more of the actual games and less of the build-up. It wasn't the worst movie I've ever spent 25$ to go see so it'll be alright.NFL: Green Bay Packers

Would've loved an R rated version of this movie, but that's never going to happen. They need it at PG-13 so that it can succeed financially with the teenage crowd. And it's working, so unfortunately won't happen.Originally posted by raidersbball20I wish they would have made the movie rated R so they could ditch the shaky camera and have the movie more like the book during the actual games. They also should have spent more time introducing the back story
I agree on the back story, but then we'd be approaching a 3 hour movie. Our only hope is an extended version when it hits blu-ray.Comment

Of course not, considering it is all about $$$$.Would've loved an R rated version of this movie, but that's never going to happen. They need it at PG-13 so that it can succeed financially with the teenage crowd. And it's working, so unfortunately won't happen.

That being said this movie could be amazing if it was rated r.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

Re: The Hunger Games (movie) - March 23rd
Saw it with the wife and fam, one of which was a 15 year old girl - and the ladies liked it... but me and my son thought the movie was weak. I assume knowing the books etc may have helped, but the overall film made me feel like I am missing something from the premise of the entire film. Should have listened to my boy and went to another theater to watch Wrath of the Titans or something

It's ironic that a book can be full of violence and be okay for teenagers, but it has to be toned down a ton for the movie to be okay. I don't get film ratings sometimes.Comment

Yeah I saw this over the weekend and it was just okay for me. I thought the book was just okay too. I'm going to go ahead and finish the story out anyway.PS: You guys are great.

Re: The Hunger Games (movie) - March 23rd
Finally saw this movie last night and I loved it. It was the first time I read the book and them saw the film, so I was worried I would of been disappointed but I thought the film followed the book well and included a lot of details. Overall I walked away very impressed.
I wish the movie was rated R and included more violence that the book described but I understand the target demographic is the teenage audience. I'm glad the film wasn't too disney-esque if you know what I mean and I thought it showed a decent amount of violence.
The characters for the most part were pretty spot on to how I imagined them in the book. Only I didn't picture Katniss as being that attractive and I pictured Haymitch being even more disheveled and more of a drunk.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

There were a few things I didn't like about the movie. I didn't like how they changed Rue's death (I feel Katniss' first kill being vengeance and not self defense is important). They did a terrible job of showing that Katniss was playing the love bird thing up for the cameras. It seemed all genuine to me. It's still a good movie, but they changed a couple things that made it a little disappointing, though still not as disappointing as the last book
