For Amazon Prime Day, they're having a sale on a Samsung 4k monitor. Thoughts? I notice it doesn't say HDR but I'm also reading there is no HDR for monitors.

HDR monitors are coming out soon I've read here and there so I'd hold off (well I am holding off actually because when I go 4K I want HDR as well)

Guys,

I may have a bad computer (it has issues) so I'm thinking about a replacement. I am thinking about maybe building one but a local shop has one that seems to be pretty cheap and I'm wondering if I built this for myself if I could even beat this price.

I priced it out on newegg and using the cheapest parts where they didn't specify a brand with Windows 10 it came out to be about $636.

Fighting the itch to upgrade, with a bonus coming soon. Not sure how much but im sure I could get away with using half of it. Leaning more towards something like an Acer Predator 35" 1440p ultrawide though instead of upgrading my i5 4690k.

Man those monitors are expensive. I just think about how I could get a new 4K tv for $1000. Have no doubt it's a great monitor. I currently have dual 1440p monitors. I've thought about going ultrawide but not sure I want to go to one monitor.

Yeah. I have a 1440p Qnix as a secondary monitor. I occasionally have issues with it though because it's DVI-D so it's not HDCP and we're a digital household.

I still game at 2560x1080- 21:9 though because I prefer the aspect ratio over the resolution.

So now I want both, and if I'm going to spend that much and have a 1080Ti it needs to be GSync too of course

Need to get a deal w/ a couple hundred off the X35 or something.

Looks like I'm about to finally do it. Having a relative help me along who has built numerous pc's.

My budget is $1000. Already have the new LG 4K monitor so I'm good there. Heading to Microcenter now to get the ball rolling and I'm nervous as hell.

Post some specs when done. I love reading what others put together. Gets my fix in since I'm pretty much maxed out with the rig I have now. Still doesn't stop me from wanting to tinker more lol. Gotta live vicariously through you guys right now.

Left Microcenter even more confused. My brother in law met me down there and he wants me to get a build like his even though I'm telling him I may not use this feature now but possibly down the road. And he's very confusing when explaining. Finally we walked out 15 minutes after closing.

We made a list while at the store but I just wasn't happy with the choices he was deciding for me. He has a lot of leftover parts that he's collected over the years and I was getting the sense he wants me to buy some from him. Hmmm? Even when I picked out a case he was like no don't get that one and I'm like wtf?? He said I needed just a plain case. Well why do I need a plain case??

As you can see doing this with him may have been a bad decision on my part.

That sucks man. However you do have a plethora of knowledgeable people here who don't have an agenda so if you have any questions throw it our way. I'm sure we can get you put in the right direction depending on what you want out of it.
