Glad to see System of a Down getting some respect on here. As an Armenian, I appreciate their music A LOT. Too bad their new CD isnt that great (Mesmerize, coming on the 17th, dont ask how I've heard it).....but it's okay. Hopefully the second part, Hypnotize (coming out later in the year), will be better. The song "Holy Mountain" which will be on Hypnotize, is one of the most unbelievably awesome songs I've ever heard in my life. So emotional, so driven, it's just great. It's written about Mount Ararat, which originally belonged to the Armenians, is now part of Turkey as a result of the Genocide.

My opinion in music that most would disagree with? The Beatles are overrated. I respect everything they've done, but to me, they're just not that great.

Do you like BYOB? They played it on SNL and it sounded real tite, the beggining is so freaking fast. They got away with saying the f-word too on SNL during that song

I HATED BYOB the first time I heard it but it's been growing on me. It has a lot of energy with it and I like that....I'd say I like it. The best song off the new album is probably Sad Statue...although I'll leave that up to other people to see when they hear it.

I cant wait for the studio recording of Holy Mountain for their next album. The only version of it circulating is a live version, and it's chilling.

The Beatles song Helter Skelter is one of the greatest hard rock songs of all time. Which also proves the point that the beatles could have EASILY been one of the greatest hard rock bands if they wanted to be.

most of the country music being created in Nashville nowadays is utter crap. (actually, i bet a lot of people agree with me on that one)

if you want to here good, real country music - you probably wont here it on the radio very much anymore.

Pearl Jam's presence alone ensures that the current era is better than the entire decade of the 80s. Add in Radiohead and Queens of the Stone Age still going strong and I think music is doing just fine(not as good as the mid 90s, but still not too bad).

music these days seem formulated in my opinion. All videos seem the same and the artists are being pimped but the labels. Dead prez said it best "turn of the radio, turn of that bull****". I'm not hatin i'm just statin. The rappers aren't the only people getting paid. Back in the early 90's when hammer was doing his thing, he took a lot of flak from people. Now all you see is rappers getting endorsements and the whole nine. I still listen to music but i like the cats that get no airplay.

I will have to disagree as well. While this "era" (I assume you mean 1999/2000 till now) does seem quite horrid, it is not the worst era. I would say it would be towards the end, but not the worst. You named two great bands of today, but you have to include bands such as The White Stripes, Radiohead, Foo Fighters, and etc.

I think in general, mainstream music seems horrible, but that's because its mainstream. Mainstream = uniformity, unoriginal, bland, CRAP.
