Microsoft sent their kits too late and games were rushed, Sony would be wise not to make the same mistake.

I know I'm happy. Fall release was a pretty much guarantee. But then we got that info yesterday and everyone was like "oh oh it ain't comin til 07". Sike.

Why am I so happy over this info? Here's what I got out of it.

Will the online service be free? No. The basic service will be though ( like Xbox Live Silver or whatever). But the real online service will cost (like XBL Gold).

Console price? They said that the LEAST would be 400USD. But we got alot of smartasses that think they know more about the console than SONY so they say $500 at the least. Well I say it'll be $450 - 500.

Major shortage? Hmmm... Maybe. Maybe not. Sony has already released how many consoles? Have they not learned? They watched the PS3 shortage, and they watched the 360 shortage. They obviously aren't rushing the console out, they did delay it right? All I know is I'm going to be pre-ordering ASAP.

HDD will come standard. READ. And games will ship on Blu Ray discs.

I'm hype. I got my HDD (60GB with an OS at that) and I got my unified online service. Now just wait a little longer to see some eye candy.

One thing to speculate about though. They are shipping on Blu Ray discs from the start, so that means developers are taking advantage of the extra space, ya?

I just found out that the Drive speed is only 1X! This likely means long long load times. Sony should have gone with a DVD drive and included the Blue Ray only as an optional add on.

I doubt the HDD will come standard. I also heard althougth I do not know for sure that the online service is Gamespy. They will probably have a premium package that includes a HDD and one that will not.

your rightm they never once stated that the HD will be standard, I really think the PS3 will most likley be more then $500, I think it will be like $599/$699, thats just my guess.

I'm still banking on 500 bucks w/ HDD. At the very least, you'll get a game, memory card and 1 controller to start.

360 developers do that and the HD doesnt come standard. Just because they say they will develop games with the expectation that the user will have one doesnt mean that it will come standard.

Yep, 360 developers are required to develope for the HDD in their games, in the sense that it has to be an option to save to.

I've also read that the release date is November 11th. I've seen that in a few places, didn't see it above anywhere. But that's a Saturday...interesting.

I would think that it would be the Tuesday after the 11th. Nov. 14th

sony had said it was spring 06, and that it was on schedule. their website also had a promo of a ps3 with the words "spring 06" on it, so this is about a half year delay....

Is anyone surprised? I think that its only a delay to the Japanese market, not US. I don't think anyone could have reasonably thought the system would be in the US this spring.

Sony made some impressive statements today. But it cracks me up how everyone is jumping out of the wood work to jump on Sony's bandwagon now, there was only like 4 guys on it before, now everyone seems to be hopping aboard. I guess it's true that Sony can basically say anything and people believe them. Oh well, should be a great E3, looking forward to seeing some in game footage of the PS3 and more concrete details on the info released today.

I agree. But I wonder if the 360 has forced Sony to rush this out causing them to not have their house in order.

I think that Fall/winter of 2006 was the original targeted release date for Sony. I believe that they only stated Spring, to keep people from buying 360's.

And I don't know that Sony ever has their house in order
