Re: Mass Effect Discussion
lol you're welcome but I can't take full credit for that. it was posted earlier in the thread, I was having problems with the mission and saw that post last night and finally completed it.
I have a few questions:
1. how do I get more grenades? not carry more, just restock so I have 4?
2. the mission "UNC espionage probe" in the Amazon system of the Voyager cluster.SpoilerI have done the first part of the mission and disarmed the bomb. the second part says to escape and, if possible, kill Haliat. Well I couldn't find him anywhere but I did make it back to the Normandy, yet the mission is still incomplete. What do I do?
3. I am a vanguard, currently level 17 and close to 18. Is it possible to up my electronics and decryption skills? I want to recover the lost probes I come across, but it says my electronics skill is too low. What can I do about that?Lux y VeritasComment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
All the book does is provide you with the nice background info. It introduces you to the different alien races. I think just 2 or 3 characters from the book are in the game. The book really helps to understand and make the world of Mass Effects seem more plausible.
I equate it to the Potter books: Sure you can just watch the movies and be happy with the story, or you can read the books and watch the movies and know every detail there is to know about the potter universe.www.simgamingnetwork.com Come join our leagues!

3. If you don't have the Decryption or Electronic skills yourself, have someone in your party with them and level them up.Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
Yeah they use their powers themselves. You're probably telling them to use Lift after they've used it, the powers need to recharge.Questions.
Will my team use their powers without me directing them to? It appears that they do because I've seen one of the guys go all biotic next to me. However, when I directed him to use Lift he didn't comply. Am I suppose to do something? Maybe hit right to have him engage on a particular enemy?
What's the deal with everyone being a 1 in Assault Rifle aim? I bump up my ability in it (I'm a soldier) and there is no change. Is aim only something that goes hand-in-hand with the type of weapon/manufacturer? I ask because it seems that my entire party (I've added the quarian and the Krogan for example) has the same weapon stats across the board. I'm not talking about talents. Just weapon stats. How do you bump those up?

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
Spoilerhe's an alliance officer who's hanging out with a bunch of biotics on some planet. He killed somebody and the alliance is trying to bring him in an arrest him. You end up killing him in the dialog part and then take out a couple of biotics and thats the mission.
it's a side quest.Lux y VeritasComment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
It's not even just background. It's a completely different chapter that occurs about 20 years prior to the Mass Effect video game.
It won't ruin a thing and isn't necessary to understand the video game. But it is a fun read and will obviously give you a broader perspective of what's going on in the universe.
Here's a timeline that isn't a book or video game spoiler. It's the history of this universe. http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
You can buy grenade & medigel upgrades from shops so that you can carry more. Looting only gets upgrades to the grenades, it doesnt increase the amount. Pretty sure you can't restock though i'm not sure. Have yet to have a grenade thrown at me.
Right now i'm a Vanguard, 24 hours in with Ashley & Tali and I just got my specialization class (Nemesis). This game is a life stealer. I've gone to bed at 6:30, 8:00 & 7:30 am these last three days with class only a few hours later. Mass Effect is unhealthy.Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
What I like most about this game is what I'm sure most people like the least; and that is the mostly empty, barren planet landscapes.
I know this game is a fantasy-world set 200 years in the future, but just reading through the Codex it's obvious that the game is loosely-based on reality (hell, they named the game after the substance known as Dark Matter!), and the mostly empty, non-landable planets helps to keep me grounded in that sense of realism.
In real life, every planet that we know of is most likely devoid of any intelligent life (due to the environmental hazards), so when I'm cruising along an uninhabitable planet in M.E., I feel like the game is providing me with a simulation of what it would be like if I were ever fortunate enough to explore an uncharted planet (the particles/debris floating in some of the atmospheres are fantastic).
I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but if most of the planets were bustling with intelligent life-forms, and huge cities, M.E. would be a less enjoyable role-playing experience for me because whatever sense of realism the game was trying to achieve would be lost.

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
I don't mind the "barren" aspect quite as much as the "very annoying to travel around" aspect...The stupid mountains can drive me batty at times. I've gotten good at it, but it really gets repetitive. I can deal with the planets being boring, but kinda breaks me from my immersion/realism when the "Rescue Biotics" quest has the exact same layout as the "Track down evil general" quest, along with 5 others. (Quests made up, but you know what I mean) Same exact layout, boxes, wall art, rooms, etc. The only thing different are the people.
I know I'm nitpicking, but just pointing out something I'd like improved (and I think they wanted to do, just was all too much, maybe next time).Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
Assuming that I'm thinking of the right mission...2. the mission "UNC espionage probe" in the Amazon system of the Voyager cluster.SpoilerI have done the first part of the mission and disarmed the bomb. the second part says to escape and, if possible, kill Haliat. Well I couldn't find him anywhere but I did make it back to the Normandy, yet the mission is still incomplete. What do I do?
SpoilerWhen you escaped, did you go out the same way you came from? If so, that's the problem. After disarming the bomb and leaving that room with the bomb in it, the door on your left is now able to be opened. If you go through there and then continue down, there's a mercenary camp right there where Haliat is. So essentially, if you're standing right in front of the entrance while still outside, the camp is on the other side of the mountain. I think this is the mission you're talking about.Comment
