I'm enjoying the game and the majority of the time when I lose online, it's because the other guy was better than me, not because my controller input the wrong commands.

also if you're considering a strategy I'd say save the money. There's plenty of online guides available for free, including some decent stuff I linked to earlier in this thread.

I think my biggest complaint about online is that 95% of the time, so far at least, my opponents have used either Ken or Ryu. I understand they are good characters and classic ones from the original and everybody knows their moves blah blah blah...but I'd like to see more variety. Where's the people playing as El Fuerte, Bison, Cammy, Crimson Viper, Blanka, E. Honda, Dhalsim, Sakura, Rose, etc.? I don't mind fighting Ken and Ryu, especially the newbs who think they can sit back and throw Hadokens all day, but more variety would be nice.
me and COUPLEOFFEW was just talking about that last night online. everyone is picking the same people. that gets tiring.

I swear...you'd think that they are the only characters playable online lol. I usually play as Ken in super turbo but now since everyone and their mother is using him, I switched up to Vega even though he's the worst character in the game. Man I miss me some DeeJay.

to be fair, I played against one dude who was Guile and was just nasty with him. Made me a bit jealous, Guile was my original favorite when SF 2 first dropped like 20 years ago but I never really got that good with him.

I have seen a lot of people using Zangief and E. Honda also. I will continue to use Ken, until I can work on someone else. Back in the day, everyone used Ryu/Ken/Sagat also, but now at least the game is better balanced so those characters are not as dominant as they used to be.

Attention New Yorkers: Fightpad is still available in some Gamestops in Queens. Specifically, I heard from a very close friend about Main St. Gamestop by the 7th train. I highly suggest you guys call around and get this thing before it completely disappears from NYC. In this city, they sold as many copies as they shipped of both the game and the controller, from what I'm hearing.

WOW. That's awesome. SF is BACK.

Re: Sportsdude--Guilty as charged as far as picking Ken, BUT I also bring a lot of Rufus. The game is new. It's gonna take time for people to learn the new characters, and how to use the focus attacks. They totally changed Chun Li from SFIII SMH Not that she's bad, but she has to be completely relearned. Be glad you're not seeing a lot of Sagat and Zangief, lol. Those two are brutal.

Born, for someone starting out, would you recommend a rookie getting the guide with this game to learn all the special moves or just keep practicing in Training Mode.

                    Re: Street Fighter IV (360/PS3/PC)

THe 360 controller is ill equipped to do really help this game. I cant pull moves off at will, its very hit or mis, I also find my self jumping when im trying to back up, etc. the analog is better but it feels so awkward in this situation. I really think I would be better with a PS3 controller or at least a more traditional D pad on the 360. I really dont like arcade sticks either. Anyone got any suggestions?

That said did I miss something, or did they take out allot of super moves?

If you can afford it, those game guides have useful info, a lot of art, and are overall enjoyable to have.

                      --However--

There are GREAT Youtube vids on Street Fighter strategy. It's going to take time for part IV to REALLY have a great guide, because tiers and methods change as people get better.

So watch these vids and if you still want the guide, you'll probably enjoy it.

                      <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/d0cFs5mHQC4&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/d0cFs5mHQC4&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Follow the channel and watch the rest of these. About 85% of the info still applies to Street Fighter, even though it's from Turbo.

What does it mean in the command list when it shows the D-pad with the word "charge" in it? I thought it meant to hold the D-pad that certain way, but I don't think that is correct.

I am basically just button mashing my way through the single player mode on the easiest level and trying to get through the trial mode training. I still cannot get past the 2nd level in trial mode with any character.

I don't know if I'll ever get good at this game. Probably not. But wow, it sure is a first class production. A lot of love went into making this game.

Thats because your a sportsdude, along the lines of an extremegamer!

But seriously tho, i need the fight pad if i want to be competitive. If your casual i guess u can use the analogs on the 360 but i wouldn't recomend it. The PS3 d-pad is a really good d-pad, those guys don't really need a fightpad.

Its really all about preference. Me personally im much better with a d-pad than an arcade stick. Hell i got a custom weighted Hori EX2 arcade stick but i still ordered the fightpad cuz i feel MUCH more comfortable playing street fighter with a controller.

I can second that. In my feeble attempt to actually get good at this game, I ordered a strategy guide from Amazon for $14. While a lot of the info (probably all of it) can be found on the 'net, it has some really cool art in it and was worth a purchase for me. Between the guide, the controller and the game itself I have invested quite a bit of money in this game.

                              And I still suck.

I have a lot of trouble with the hadoken moves that require 2 quarter turns. In about 200 tries I did it once and have not been able to repeat it since.

The charge moves are with a different character, I forget which one. I have been taking each character into trial mode and trying to get past the 2nd level. I'll have to get back with you on which ones use the charge. But I have the strategy guide and it is clearly listed in the moves list. They just don't tell you what it means.
