Lmao, horrible. It was the one in the NE and it was two Man'o'Wars. I kept getting caught in the middle of the two. I fled to live another day. Went and took out about 5 bases to get some upgrades, going to try again free work. :/

I love that the more stealth-oriented style of gameplay is back. To me its more epic to pick off an entire group of soldiers unseen than to just barnstorm through like AC3 had you did a lot of times. Plus, the ship stuff is still epic to me. Just sailing around and listening to your crew sing shanties is pretty damn cool.

I agree, I can't get enough of this game. Honestly if this was the only PS4 launch title I bought, I'd be fine with that. I think NBA 2K14 is epic on next gen and FIFA is fine as well, but almost 100% of my time has been taken up with this game.

The only reason I haven't played this week is because of BF4's 100% XP bonus. I'm missing some pillaging though.

This might not be a game you can compare it to (it seems like it could be compared) but someone compare this to Far Cry 3. Far Cry 3 is one of my favorite games over the last few years. It seems you can do a lot in this game as far as free roam and side stuff.

For the record I never played a game in this series.

I dunno, it all starts with the character for me. Altair seemed like the cold blooded assassin, Ezio was the pretty boy/ladies man. Edward is just worried about money. Which does make sense, but it makes for a boring main character. Hopefully that changes but I think I'm towards the end of the game.

AC3 was awful I though. I liked Connor the farther through the game it got, but the story didn't do it for me. Run forever, kill a guy, rinse, repeat.

I really wish since Ezio had three games, Altair would have as well.

I felt their wrath last night too. I kept downing one of the ships but once it sinks the second one turns on beast mode. The thing literally turned on a dime to ram me.

I think I will need to widdel them both down before finishing one off. I also need to take cover more often, especially when I am between the two.

On a side note, every time I sunk one of the two I was able keep the loot when I picked it up. So after multiple failed attempts I had 40,000R to show for it.

My plan tonight is to go in w/ full sails, once I hit about 50 m from them start dropping fire barrels. Cut the sails and make a sharp turn and continue to drop to try and trap them a little since their turn radius sucks. Drop a mortar then go all out.

I dunno, most disagree with my opinion, which is a good thing, glad y'all are enjoying it... but it just didn't do it for me. Beat it and put it on Amazon for sell right after.

Maybe lure a couple ships close enough to be within their "area" and board them for a heal.

Had my biggest fight of the game earlier. Was just going to do one assassin contract real quick, turns out he's in a hard fort. D'oh. So I take a quick look and there's no ships around, so I go for it. I hit the fort with some mortar fire, dodge, mortar again, then move to broadside range. Next thing I know I see three brigs approaching from one side, and two men o war coming from the other. Damn.

So I hit the three brigs first with a mortar, they were all close and all three are nearly done. I start broadsiding the men o war and hit the brigs with another mortar, they are incapacitated. I keep hitting the men o war with broadsides/heavy, then swivels, all while shelling the fort with mortars. I get down to one bar of health, so I go for the brigs, I just ram through the middle one and start boarding and use them to heal (nice of the other ships and fort to take a timeout for me to repair my ship).

After that I didn't have much trouble, both men o wars were almost toast, the fort was no bother, though I did end up at about 50% health after. Unfortunately I was running short on time, I had to run down the fort real quick and leave, didn't have time to board those big treasure troves.

Social events seem to stop once you get deep into the story or after you taken all forts.
It's been around 2 weeks since I've seen any social stuff and people on AC forums are having same issues once they take all forts.
Makes it hard to do AC initiates missions when social sharing stops working.

People with this issue who start a new games see social sharing turn on again.

Mortar upgrade further in story use L1, or LB. You view through your spotting scope and see the trajectory arch.

Great for when you have a big ship with a few small ones. If they're clustered an upgraded mortar can take out the dingies.
