Re: No Man's Sky
Collimating sucks. I have a $1200 light bucket I got off Craigslist for $500 a few years back and I've only ever gotten it out a handful of times because I suck at setting it up and aligning the mirrors.
Showing someone Saturn or Jupiter, or even better Orion's Nebula is a really amazing thing.

Re: No Man's Sky
Can someone explain why when I'm down flying around a planet it will say something is 30 seconds out, then 29 seconds, then 28 seconds, etc and then it will change back to like 42 seconds?
I've been flying toward this shelter now for like 5 minutes and the time keeps changing from 30 down to 19 then back up to 38 and etc..not sure what is going on..Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: No Man's Sky
As far as we know has anyone been given a code to preview the PC version, like are any impressions of it up yet?
I see Sean tweeted it's a 2.6 gig download, I assume that's because of compression?"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

If you're far enough away that it's taking 5 minutes at full speed to reach a destination, fly out of the planet's gravitational pull, accelerate to close the distance faster, and then try to re-enter the atmosphere directly above the target. It really shouldn't take you more than about 2 or 3 minutes to fly to any nearby destination.Comment

Re: No Man's Sky
Your speed is changing (for one of several reasons), and the time to arrival is adjusting to match it. This is as noticeable when you're out in space as it is when you're in the situation you mentioned, but it happens more within a planet's atmosphere because the game adjusts your height (and with it, your speed) to keep you from crashing.

Ok thanks, that's what I suspected was the case but was hoping someone could confirm it.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: No Man's Sky
Finally left my starter planet and headed to the next closest planet, according to my ship map. At regular flight speed, told me it would take 2 weeks to get there. Amazing!
Landing there was amazing and...now I'm scared.
I got so used to my home. My cold, yellow in the day, blue in the night, home. Now I'm on this hot, red planet and I don't like any of the things I'm seeing. It's a whole new place and it frightens me.Attached Files"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: No Man's Sky
Found the money planet tonight, not only is it loaded with gold ore and gold crystals, there are caves everywhere loaded with those vortex cubes. In about an hour and a half I went from 500k to 3.1 million. Don't think I will farm any more though, it feels a bit exploitative.Comment

Re: No Man's Sky
Figured out something kind of cool tonight. I got a new ship with more slots, so it may be unique to larger ships, but your inventory slots on your ship hold more of an element than your suit does. I don't know if anyone else realized that or not, but it's come in handy when I'm limited on inventory space.Comment
