    Re: No Man's Sky

Finally been getting some playing time with this game, and I'm enjoying it for what it is.

I spent the last two nights trying to backtrack and find my crashed landing spot where the game begins. I really wanted to start the atlas storyline, but totally forgot to accept their guidance before hopping into my ship and flying off to different parts of the planet. Trying to backtrack made me realize the vastness of No Man's Sky, and the feeling that took over once I finally found my place was nothing I've ever felt before in a video game. I felt this weird sense of comfort and satisfaction. Like I was home. But really the story had just begun.

The game makes you feel lost and alone, thanks to a lack of hand holding. A good change of pace.

Oh it was pretty awesome for about 20 hours........you will see what I mean soon.

But seriously enjoy what it offers in the meantime. It is quite fun for a little while.

If they actually manage to follow through on these claimed future updates, maybe this time next year I'll consider buying it, especially since by then it should be pretty cheap, especially with future Black Friday sales.

That's what I was thinking. Was going to grab it today digitally but will wait till it's even lower.

Yep, I mean you look at Battlefront, you can get the base game this weekend for $9.99. That's ridiculously low for a game only a year old. I'm thinking by this time next year, NMS will be selling for $15 to $20 in Black Friday sales, maybe lower. By that time, if the devs are true to their word, then that will give them a year to push out some updates and additions to the game and it will be a better game by then than it is now.

                  Re: No Man's Sky

At $20 this game is a steal even if they don't do patches or updates like they are promising again.

I have about ~45 hours put into this and haven't really gotten too tired of the exploring.

Well let's see what they do. I would love to be able to play again with fresh features and some improvement. But at this point I got everything I wanted out of it in under 30 hours.

The potential is there for more.

No doubt that this is a strange group from others who develop games. I still haven't traded it in because I couldn't believe that they would just drop this and run, as well as the potential it still has....Hopefully their words hold true and all their updates remain free and eventful.

"The discussion around No Man's Sky since release has been intense and dramatic. We have been quiet, but we are listening and focusing on improving the game that our team loves and feels so passionately about. Positive or negative feedback, you have been heard and that will truly help to make this a better game for everyone."

"The Foundation update will be the first small step in a longer journey. We hope you can join us."

'we never said anything about base building' - headline from the future?

My issue with them adding base building in their first big patch is that it's currently nearly impossible to navigate with the galaxy map

I mean at this point I feel like this ship has sailed, sank and is now a reef. Not sure how the could get enough of sales from this point to justify really building this game.

Picked this up yesterday and spend about 6 hours playing it today and have been enjoying it. But I like exploring and finding stuff (and getting lost in caves). It's definitely a niche game though. One thing that has annoyed me is that the question mark icon for unidentified things doesn't change after you reach it so I'll leave then keep coming back to the same one multiple times thinking it's a new one.
