I looked up the syntha 6 nutritional info and it has 6 grams of fat per scoop is that right? No wonder it tastes delicious as I have never seen a protein powder with that high a fat content.

Not that fat is a bad thing necessarily I just found it interesting.

Yeah, Syntha-6 tastes great, but it probably wouldn't be the best bet for people trying to lose weight. It's got 200 calories per scoop as well, which is pretty high compared to most other protein powders. For people like myself trying to gain weight it's obviously a plus. Two scoops plus milk is an easy 500+ calories for me.

        I'm not sure.

If you're going through your regular workout, you should be able to burn the calories easily. I don't really buy it just for the taste, It's done a great job helping me build muscle.

I'm happy with it because of the nutritients, fiber, protein, and extra amino acids with it. The taste is just a bonus. Then again, I'm 6'3" and weigh roughly 230. I just feel like the little bit of fat and calories with Syntha-6 can be overcame, easily.. with a rigorous workout routine.. It's awesome stuff.

I like the low-cal diet idea, for losing weight, but calories also contribute to energy.. I don't want to deprive my body of energy completely.

I'm going to try to get to the gym by 7 in the morning and be through my workout by 7:30, with enough time to change clothes and go down the road to work.

Yeah I wasn't shocked by the number of cals or anything and seeing as I only have have at most 1-2 scoops per day the 100-150 cal difference between my protein powder i take now and that wouldn't make any difference. I like my current stuff (elite vanilla which is 24g prot and about 120 cals per scoop) but might have to try some syntha next time.

My diet has been absolutely on lock down recently. I did IF for ages with great results but have gone back to a 3 meal per day program these days. Generally mon - fri my diet looks like this:

Breakfast (7AM): 3/4 eggs, some ham (I add a few pieces of whole wheat bread on workout days because I lift before breakfast and want to get some post workout carbs).

Lunch (12noon): 200grams of grilled chicken breast (covered it lots of herbs and spices, tastes awesome) + steamed veges like beans, broccoli etc. I usually have a bit of mustard or light sweet chilli sauce on top.

Afternoon snack (4pm): Protein shake: Ice cubes, 1/2 frozen bannana or other frozen fruit, 1-2 scoops of protein powder, 1 cup 2% milk, 1 cup ice cold water and blend)

Dinner: (7pm) varies but usually some form of protein like lean beef, fish or chicken and veges or salad

dessert: (8-9pm) sugar free jello with blueberries in it and a topping of low sugar yoghurt. - I love this dessert, absolutely kills my sweet tooth and less than 100 calories.

Lots of good quality healthy food that fills me up. On the weekend I stick pretty close to that but have a bit more variety and I usually have a cheat meal on either friday or saturday night and a few drinks (usually scotch or bourbon with a no cal mixer or a few beers).

If money is an issue, shop around online. You can get a 5lb tub of Syntha-6 for around $38, which is pretty much the exact same price for 5lb of Body Fortress would be although I think there are less servings.

From what I've gathered glutamine is a waste of money. Creatine is something I'm looking on starting up as well. Just make sure you don't do a "loading" phase as it's not necessary. Definitely worth taking as it's really cheap.

I'm curious on how the caffeine tabs are working for you as a preworkout. I've been really considering that option, but am hesitant because I'm not sure how it would work in the long term. What are your thoughts on it so far? Do you just take one 200mg tab? How often before you workout? Anything would be great info really.
Really? $38? I will have to look around because probably as a habit I just look at amazon and the merchants who sell through amazon and assume that is probably about as good as it is going to get. Also, did you know that Body Fortress "super advanced" has creatine in it? Does not say how much either, just listed in ingredients. If I am going to take it, I would want it to be in proper amounts, not just added to my shake.

Also, funny you should say that as I was thinking about doing the exact same thing. Body Fortress for general use and the better stuff on lifting days or post workouts. But my walMart sells 2LB body fortress for $15 plus tax, putting it at about 40 per 5LB. If I can get better quality at a similar price, I am going to go with that.

As for the caffeine pills, I like them as more a general supp than a pre workout. I dont feel they help performance at all but they do make me a bit more awake/alert. They seem more helpful for day to day use. If I wake up late I will take one instead of making coffee. If tired I will take one and drink water instead of having a coke/diet coke. It should be said that I also seem to have a high caffeine tolerance. I will experiment with 2 pills pre workout and let you know how it goes. Although I will say, I will probably order again, and maybe even two to keep a bottle at work. Certainly worth the five to six cents a pill imo.

Edit/addition/btw: I have never taken a "real" preworkout, just read, so I have nothing to compare to.

                Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE

Yeah, Syntha6 isn't very expensive. I try to buy from my gym to help support them + they have good deals and will order anything I request..

I do buy some things online, if its a good deal. I don't shop at GNC anymore, because its easier to get it at the gym and again, I like supporting them..

I love the staff and trainers.

I started off this morning with a protein shake and drank my pre workout on the way to the gym. I'm at work now and snacking on some vegetable wheat thins and will probably hunt up some grilled chicken or tuna for lunch.

Has anyone tried Artic Zero Ice Cream?

It has 150 cals per PINT. I wonder what it tastes like?

Not available here in Australia yet unfortunately or I'd try it out myself.

Well my tub of Mochaccino Syntha-6 is just about expired, so now I'll need to pick up a new flavor.

I think I've narrowed it down to Chocolate Peanut Butter, Strawberry Milkshake, or Chocolate Mint. Decisions...decisions.

(last time they didn't have the Chocolate Mint, so it will depend on what's in the stores' stock)

Amazon is a bit cheaper, use the subscribe & save and it's a little over $25 shipped for that size. When I ordered my first one it was only $21.xx shipped but the price went up in the past month to $25.xx.

According to the doc I can't run or do squats for 4-6 weeks due to tendonitis in my left knee.

Just stopped off at a sports store and bought a heavy punching bag, some wraps and heavy gloves. Figure between walking, swimming and boxing I'll still be able to get my cardio in to keep things going even though I can run for a fair while. Anyone else done boxing for cardio?

So, very little leg movement, I take it ?

Kempo X from P90X is pretty awesome for cardio.

Yeah I'm going to be boxing like George Foreman late in his career. Very little foot movement and focus on power from my core /upper body. I can walk fine on the treadmill etc its only if I try to run or put heavy weight on the knee when it really flares up.

Agree about Kenpo X it was pretty damn fun, one of my fav p90x workouts.

Sorry to hear about the knee.

As far as the boxing, my gym has a few bags set up and I am really considering investing in a set of gloves for a changeup in cardio to keep it interesting.

^^ do it mate, I had a great time doing it this afternoon. So glad I bought wraps because I still took some skin off my knuckles even with wraps and the gloves so it wouldn't have been pretty without the wraps.

Did 40 mins of boxing this arvie after work. 10 rounds of 3 minutes and 1 minute rest breaks = 40 mins total. I great fullbody workout! Looked like I jumped in the pool I was that covered in sweat.
