    Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE

And just some food for thought, but how many people who don't do IF have ever gone a day without eating?

I'm not talking about when you were sick, or some crap like that, I'm talking about a normal healthy 24+ hours of not eating? Really think, have you ever done it?

If no (and I don't believe I had before I started IF), doesn't that seem a little strange... A little bizarre that you've never once gone a single day without eating. How many days have you been alive on this earth, and you've stuffed your face every single one of them!

What about that 16 hours, how about 12 waking hours when food was readily available?

Isn't it a little strange that a certain time of the day rolls around, and you just HAVE to eat.

I'll tell you what, some of the most empowering feelings I've had are when I'm fasting and I just get this surge of energy. No, its not always easy, but its most definitely not always hard either. Our bodies were meant to go extended periods of time without food and in many many ways we actually function better, more efficient, in this state. As crazy as it may seem, it is empowering, and at times addicting, to fast and push the bounds of what is "normal"

So again, I ask you, have you ever gone a single healthy day in your life without eating? If no, is that really normal? Because it seems incredibly bizarre to me.

Yeah going longer then 12 hours without eating for extended periods of time sounds unhealthy to me. The human body was designed to eat, we use food as our fuel... just seems really unnatural to deprive your body of the nutrition it needs from whole foods.

and Oh god if I went 16 or more hours without eating.. I'd probably drop down to 120 lbs, I already have to stuff my face to maintain around 140.. still would like to gain weight.

I agree it's not for everybody especially if you have crazy high metabolism and want to gain weight but you think the human body always had such an over-abundance of food?

The human body is built to be able to easily go long amounts of time without food then have large re-feed's imo. You think cavemen were doing 6 meals a day and protein shakes?

Oh true for the average person I'm sure they can go on just fine with 3 meals a day spaced out morning, afternoon, evening.

I just know when I did that, I was 120 lbs and looked very sickly thin. In order to gain weight I had to start eating 5-6 meals a day. I'm taking Protein Shakes with Whole Milk and I still could only get up to around 140 lbs... right now I'm hovering at 135-137 because I'm trying to recover my appetite coming off the flu.

          I think I'm just abnormal.

            And I'm extremely jealous!

Seriously I seem to have one of those crap metabolisms where I look at Big Mac and I gain 5lbs. I guess each end of the spectrum is a pain in the ***.

              Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE

I've went a completely different direction, with my workout recently.

I don't hit the weights as hard anymore, but I've picked up my cardio and "standard fitness" activity a lot.

I run 1.5 miles in 13.5 minutes (I'm trying to get down to 12).

I've been cranking out sets of standard sit ups (at least 30 in 60 sec period) & 30 push ups in 60 seconds. I've started using the stop watch on my phone and see how many of each I can crank out.

I know it sounds crazy, but it's my own personal plan for total physical fitness. I still work my chest, back, tris, bis, etc. and work legs, but I do less weight and a whole lot more reps...

You really need to read up on IF and the science behind it.

In short, you're still eating the exact same amount of food/calories in a 24 hour period. Your body adjusts fine to the feeding window, it's amazing. Never in my life have I tried a diet method that eliminated urges/cravings more than IF. Not even close.

So, my worst fear was realized today. I've reaggravated my torn rotator cuff. It's not going to stop me from going to the gym, it's just going to limit me for what workouts I can do which is what's going to suck.

Ok I know its weird to post pictures of yourself but I use to be really over weight so here goes.

I feel like I made some damn good progress so far on my back an shoulders. I need to work more on the lower back. Still got a bit of love handles there.

Thanks man, I was at 201 beginning of 2011. Got down to 175-180ish in April of 2011. I got lazy buy am now focused again. I'm only 5'7ish so at 201 its not a hood look. I do want to get around 190 tho. Going for that Bob Sanders look.
