I've been dieting since late February and I'm down 9 pounds. I only play basketball 3-4 times a week and I still eat pretty much what I've always ate (pizza, ice cream, etc.) The main difference is that I watch my portions and (for example) instead of eating 4-5 slices of pizza, I'll stop at 2; And instead of eating 4 chicken fajitas at lunch, I'll eat only 2. Also if I do have a "bad" lunch, then I will eat a really healthy dinner. Hopefully things keep moving along this smoothly

Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE
I hit the gym again today and did about 35 mins of cardio on the tredmill, then followed that up with some leg presses, and both leg curls, then abs and calf raises and called it a day..
It's almost second nature to me, to make sure I'm in the gym at least 4 days each week. I've been back in over 4 months, going on 5 and I still feel great.Comment

Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Day... 12 I think of P90X (Nearly 4 straight weeks of working out in total) and I'm feeling pretty good. I still have lingering soreness on my triceps strangely from the Chest and Back workout back on Tuesday, but today I finally got through Ab Ripper X without having to take a break between the first six routines and the last four-five.
However, I've gone up from 137 to 138.4. That's not really concern since I'm well below my limit, but it looks like I'll have to pay attention to my weight more.I'm surprised to be gaining weight when I feel like my small gut has shrunk. I've also cut out certain things out of my diet.Comment

Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Alright so I came back to working out after a 2 week lay off due to catching the Flu, thank goodness I'm fully recovered I felt so weak and sick. (worst illness I've had in a long time)
and man it was a bit tough, the weights felt a lot heavier after being weakened from the flu, and having my diet effected. The illness really took my appetite from me. I got through it though, and it should only get better from here on out; now that I'm back on my lifting routine. Just did Biceps, and Chest today. Curls, Concentration Curls, Pullups, Incline Bench, Wide Grip Push-Ups, and Bench Press.
Oh and I also got a new PWO, and Post workout recovery Protein. Ordered the Muscle Pharm Assault (Green Apple) and the Muscle Pharm Combat Powder (S'mores). Heard that they were a pretty reputable company, and a lot of athletes use their stuff. Figured I'd try it out.
The Assault PWO so far doesn't feel like it does much, don't really feel much of a pump and didn't really notice that much more endurance during reps... well atleast compared to Jack3d.. (which I can feel kickin' in like immediately) but that might be due to the 1-3 Dimeth. Maybe it's just that it was my first workout back from the sickness lay off. The S'mores Protein powder mix tastes amazing though.Minnesota Vikings

Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Pushups are such an underrated exercise imo. I have to spend 2 months away from home in a while for work and I don't think I could be bothered joining a gym while I'm there so I'm just going to do a crap load of pushups, pullups, squats and crunches and I think I'll be fine. Going to keep up the running as well of course.
I did another 10k this morning, it's getting SO much easier to cover the distance, time to kick it up to 12 or 13k i think.Comment

Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Wow, I always had a problem with conditioning when I was playing football. I could do the sprints that eventually added up to miles worth of running, but always had issues just running a mile or what not.
I'm assuming you guys just keep running everyday and keep going further? Going to Tampa on Wednesday to start my summer and I plan on starting my daily routine shortly after that to get in more shape(I've been sick way too much lately, need to build up my immune system and stuff like that to hopefully avoid this)Last edited by Chrisksaint; 04-21-2012, 02:25 AM.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

It's like anything fitness related, the more you do it the better you get at it.

Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE
So I just got back from my most intense work-out post sickness, I think I'm back at full strength post illness, I'm still a little weaker overall, but I think that's due to me laying off the weights for a while. My goals now are to pack on weight again, and steadily increase my weights until I can get back and above what I was doing pre-Flu.
Oh and I started using Muscle Pharm Assault for Pre-workout, and I think I've had enough test time to give a more detailed review. It works, and does it's job... but overall I just don't get the same drive, and pure force to go the extra 110% like I do with Jack3d. You get decent energy, and some pump but I feel that it's a bit overpriced, compared to something like jack3d. Also I feel that you have to really mix it, and drink it with a lot of water. As the scoop is really big (for a PWO) Where as what I love with jack3d is that it's ultra concentrated and you only need to mix it with a little water, about 8 oz. and you can just down it in a couple shots.
So yeah it does the job, but for the price I feel like jack3d did a little more for me. I'll definitely be sticking with the Muscle Pharm Protein Blend though, the combat Powder is some amazing stuff, tastes great, get a great recovery post workout, and I don't get any bloating, or stomach effects like I do with other Protein Shakes. I have the S'mores flavor now, but when that runs out I'll probably want to try Cookies 'N Cream, Triple Berry, or Banana Cream...all sound pretty enticing.Minnesota Vikings

Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE
I have Jack3d sitting there at home unopened as I have to finish up my existing PWO first but I'm glad you found it so good. Do you just use one scoop each time?
GL with your weight gaining goals, I'd love to have that problem of losing weight too fast but I suppose trying to put it on all the time could present it's own set of challenges.Comment

I've tried a few PWO's, Jack3d, Assault, Pump Fuel, NO Xplode... but yet I still feel that jack3d gave me the best bang for my buck, like I could feel it kicking in within 10 minutes, and it gave me all the energy I needed plus more, but that could just be the result of the 1-3 Dimeth in it. Oh well it works for me, plus I think it has the least amount of fillers, and mixes the best of them all.
Yeah gaining the weight back is going to be hard, but I'm going to take it easy.. and try to get it back in the way I put it on in the first place. Just taking it a little bit at a time, steadily increasing my appetite as I keep recovering, and working out. I'm definitely not going to just stuff myself with tons of calories at once, as I don't think my body can handle that and I can foresee stomach problems doing that.Last edited by Feared; 04-24-2012, 12:26 AM.Minnesota Vikings

Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE
I was always a two-scoop person with Jack3d.
I'm almost to the end of my bottle of Hyper FX (BSN product). I've been really busy with crap and haven't had a great workout in over a week.
Hopefully, I will make up for that tonight.Last edited by AUChase; 04-24-2012, 08:59 PM.Comment
