After 3 weeks of being in limbo (and not allowing non-essential personnel children to attend), our child’s daycare went from sending full invoices out, to reducing to 50% tuition, to waiving payment completely. I don’t know if they got funding, qualified for small business loans, or if all the parents refused to pay for a service that wasn’t being provided, but that was an interesting turn of events. I’ll take the extra grand in my pocket.

This whole thing is a massive mess. You’re either losing your business, your job/ hours, or sick. Pick your poison.

I gotta say, the stimulus check is pretty weak but the $600/week bump to existing unemployment benefits is the real kickstarter.

They should make that bump indefinite, but that's a different topic I guess.

I'm on furlough next week and again for a week in May. Relative to others, I feel pretty lucky.

The scary part is, before all this started, we had layoffs and were told our numbers *had* to improve this year. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess our numbers are significantly worse. So my luck is probably going to run out sooner or later.

We offered to continue paying tuition while we still can because we budget for it anyways, but the daycare turned down the offer. They say they have everyone's pay covered for now. We have a great and interactive daycare. My 3 year old's teacher face timed our son a few days ago and they have been posting videos on the Facebook page to send out messages. They have even been mailing out activities and scavenger hunts to try to keep the kids connected as best they can and we appreciate it. Our son has had the same daycare teacher for over 2 years and he really does love 'em.

Daycare is expensive, but when your 3 year old can sing all of his Presidents, knows his letters and sounds, etc. you know it's working and worth the money. They reach the kids at a level we never could at home. We were hoping to help the best we can, but I'll take the $$ too lol.

We had a few other things get cancelled: zoo camp for our oldest. We read about how much money the zoo is losing and with my military and now vet ID they have given us enough free stuff to make the decision to donate that camp money easy.

It's a tough time for a lot of people and so far we are lucky to not be feeling any financial burden.

Another causality is my wife's salary was cut by 7% and no more matching 401K until this is all over with.
That sucks. My wife just found out today that her salary is being cut by 10% with the same benefits cuts until further notice. Understandable in these times, and much better than being laid off or furloughed. Still sucks.

We both make good money so we aren't going to be ruined from her losing some of her salary, but it would be nice if the CEO was making a more drastic cut himself.

We've got 700 people on voluntary leave for 60 days at 50% salary and are burning through $2m/day and other programs in place to take voluntary pay cuts and reduce costs where possible.

Allegiant Air’s parent is burning through at least $2 million in cash per day and hundreds of workers are taking two-month leave at half pay as the carrier grapples with the fallout from the ...

Once the stimulus limitations expire (can't reduce headcount until after 9/30) there will be massive layoffs across the entire airline industry. The stimulus is doing it's job and preventing that from happening during the worst parts of the pandemic, but that won't restore spending in the travel and hospitality sectors overnight once the new normal is established coming out of this.

                I'm ****ing over this virus.

Tired of feeling like ****. Tired of stressing about finances (not in distress, but my investments and 401k taking a hit are really screwing up plans I had for immediate future), the well being of family and friends, missing my son, and being quarantined and not able to take care of myself. (get groceries, hygiene items, etc...)

Yesterday was my parent's 48th wedding anniversary. While my mom passed 3 years ago, us kids, my Dad, and my uncle would go to Cracker Barrell (mom's favorite restaurant) to eat and celebrate. But due to virus can't do that. Couldn't even be together because of fear of spread. Today is my step-daughter's 18th birthday. A huge milestone for any kid, but with her its more special. She suffers from SMA and there was no guarantee that she would live to see this age, and with everything she has endured it was a bumpy road. But now, instead of a big celebration we had planned, nothing. Sunday is Easter and I can't be with my son, or even family, because of this virus.

                I'm ****ing over it.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I know it's difficult to look for something positive but for your own good, please try.

While sick, you are not hospitalized, on a ventilator and fighting for your life. Think of all the family members that you mentioned that are healthy and safe. Not everyone is so fortunate.

Hang in there, brother. Keep fighting and make sure when this is over that you are there to celebrate the holidays, important dates and milestones with your family.

                  Stay healthy, brother. [emoji256]

Went to the grocery store, was hoping to get enough stuff to freeze that I would pretty much be good for the next few weeks, but this time it was more barren than the last couple times I went.

Just about everyone had some form of a mask on. There were arrows taped on the floor trying to direct the flow of traffic, no one followed them, seemed like a bad idea anyway.

Wasn't very crowded, so hard to see whether people are following the rest of the stuff

I never realized a store I was in had them until halfway through my shopping. Nobody followed them though. As they shouldn't really. You don't need to walk past every item if you're not buying it. Why would I walk past the frozen desert freezers if I'm not buying anything from it? I'd rather cut across and go to the next item I need.

Not to mention people do forget items, dont know which aisle a certain item might have been moved to, or find out 1 item they want isn't in stock so they'll go back to a diff aisle to get something else.

So now I'm freaking out because my wife started feeling crappy on Friday or so. Sore throat, nothing serious. We thought it was a cold. It's not getting better, she's coughing a lot more, and today has started to cough up flecks of blood. We were told over the weekend that she doesn't meet the testing criteria, but we just asked the doctor what about now. I hope it's not what I fear it is. I have developed a minor cough in the past 48 hours, but otherwise feel fine. Neither of us seem to have temperatures, but are checking it religiously. I'm hovering around 98.2-98.8.
The Last of Us is the Citizen Kane of video-games. It is better than every game that has ever come before it, and is the new benchmark for all games to follow. It is nothing short of a work of art.

What's getting me through this now is envisioning hot and humid summer days with daylight that goes on forever, starting a round of golf at 5 in the evening and easily getting in 18 while the sun is still up, then retiring to cold beers and backyard barbecue.

Not minimizing the real world struggles, but sometimes a pleasant image to look forward to can get you through a day. Wishing everyone well. Hang in there.

Yeah i am really sick of this. I work a job i can't stand in a grocery store, and have been trying to get out for years. The place has just really went down hill the last several years with like lazy employees, crazy understaffed, everything is broken and place is to cheap to fix any thing. Been struggling with depression and anxiety for years, and consider ever day just a wast of time that I wish i could get back right now, and that was before the virus. Now no sports to distract me from the real world. Need sports back like right now.

Also tired of people and there freaking out for like 4 weeks now. For like 4 weeks now people are buying like they are making thanksgiving dinner for 20 people or something, and yet some how coming back like 3 days later and doing it again. Like half of what is being bought is going to end up having to be thrown away. People are living hand wipes ever were and gloves ever where because people are to lazy to use a trash can. After like 4 weeks a lot of stuff is still out. I have been trying to get soup for like 3 weeks but can't because of people hording ever thing. I went to the story yesterday needing dish soap has i am almost out and the store had none. Tired of all this stupid hording ever one is doing and looking like its not going to stop soon.

Latest projections are that 60,000 total will die from Coronavirus in US, that's down from the 100k-240k numbers we heard last month. And, let's be real, people were taking those initial projections and muddying the waters a bit and saying there would probably be a lot more.

Those early projections were taking into account everyone following social distance guidelines, which we all know nowhere near everyone actually followed. Especially not early on.
