Maybe it was a few months back, but even then I doubt it. It's a pretty big generality, granted.
People sacrificed 2, 3 months, they thought we were doing well and that maybe it didn't hit as bad here for whatever reason.

Then all the **** happened and people said OK well **** it. They saw others going out and seeing family and stuff so they said hey why not us. Now people are having BBQs and birthday parties and whatnot. And no sucking that back in now. Especially among people of my background.

But then we got hit with the first wave. And this is the first wave now.

Don't know what we can do.

So are we really surprised when large groups of younger people are getting it after they just spent weeks protesting, while parts of or government basically said “you should do this!”?

I know no one wants to put the blame on that but 100s of thousands of people got very close together than spread all around the country, and now we are spiking.

I’m not saying it’s the only reason, our government in general is a joke and completely untrustworthy, but don’t be afraid to say it....a good chunk of this could probably be traced back to that.

An excellent test for our expansive and world-renowned contact tracing program, I’d say.

            I did, roadman!

Another easy place to contract it I'm sure is when filling up for gas. You almost become forgetful that you're touching something that everybody is touching who had no chance in hell to wash their hands, and are likely coming from somewhere that they made other forms of contact. I have a box of disposable gloves in my car for things that come on like that.

              Speaking of contact tracing:

Our contact tracers have noted a disturbing pattern: Only one in five people is self-isolating when they develop COVID-19 symptoms.

Close to 80% continue to circulate in the community. That needs to stop.

              If you're sick, stay home.

SEATTLE -- King County is ramping up its contact tracing team as a key component to the state's path forward. Health officials say the tracers are finding most people are waiting too long to go into isolation, saying only 21% of the people they contacted went into isolation on the day they first developed symptoms. More than half are waiting until they get tested. On average, there's a 3-day gap between the time symptoms develop and when a person gets tested.

a weird thing I've been noticing while Michigan deals with the "bottle return" crisis: people inside the store have masks on, people using bottle returns and in line for bottle returns (often lined up to the bus stop) do not.

not sure what to do with that, seems like the bottle return area would be a spot to be extra cautious

At least in New York City, contact tracers aren't asking if people have been to protests.

"No person will be asked proactively if they attended a protest," Avery Cohen, a spokesperson for Mayor Bill de Blasio, told The City. "If a person wants to proactively offer that information, there is an opportunity for them to do so."

The policy marks a balanced approach between public health and respecting public outrage about police violence against Black Americans.

Not gonna lie, I ignored it because from your summary it felt like bull****. Either that or:

                      - the virus isn’t as infectious as thought if thousands of people packed shoulder to shoulder, also getting sprayed with tear gas leading to coughing, chanting, talking, in close proximity

                      - masks are insanely effective

I just don’t see how CV spreads like wildfire but in conditions most conducive for spread, it’s not really being cited as the reason for spikes. It doesn’t add up to me unless one of the two points above are true.
                      NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
                      NFL - Buffalo Bills
                      MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Wish people would understand this **** in general, especially every winter.

But people are proven to be the most wretched, disgusting creatures in this our vast, expansive universe.

And people always mock(ed?) me for constantly sanitizing and washing my hands, ducking my head like I got PTSD anytime someone coughs or sneezes, open doors and things with my shirt/sleeve/etc, asking people if they've got anything going on, etc. Been doing that **** for years. Always mocked. Won't be anymore I guess.

                        What can ya do.

Vic: No Kenny, that's girl versus girl.
                          Kenny: What's the difference?
Vic: Well, in one, one girl wins. In the other....

Well, with common sense used, it is ridiculous to say that the protesting had nothing to do with the spike, when the timeline says different.

But hey, it’s the cool thing to do and all.

That you keep phrasing it as all-or-nothing is odd unless you have a narrative you’re hoping for. It’s possible (read: likely, purely due to the amount of people) that the protests have had an effect, while also not being the primary cause of spikes. Time will tell as it unfolds.

I am seeing the majority of protests in coverage wearing masks. I'm not seeing the same when I go out locally to a store.

Haven't the numbers been spiking, though? Did they level off for a week after Memorial Day shenanigans and then pop back up?
