Might not even need a huge collective. I’d imagine Messi and Ronaldo by themselves could do a good amount of damage.

Players never hold power Brahv. When it comes down to it it’s a job for them and when you threaten them with no income they’ll balk. Sure the top earners can afford to miss out on it but the vast majority of players will chase that money.

Look at how fast the NFLPA rolled over when the NFL Owners wanted to add the extra week.

Ozil's vast PR team/network then quickly realized they needed to do their usual bull****. He's a man of the people, you know.

Lol just read what he said.

“Kids grew up dreaming about winning the WC and CL”

Well the WC won’t change but before the UCL kids grew up dreaming of the European Cup and whatever the hell was before that. Kids will dream of whatever the latest & greatest is.

Anyway, just remember that soccer isn't dead on your local level, one thing I've enjoyed since stopping all of my support for Arsenal is giving money/sponsoring youth soccer initiatives in my community(obv was harder in 2020). So be mad all you want about this, but don't forget the grassroots of the game that we can still support and learn to love the game on a basic level again.

Tbf, the NBA is a good example of how players can have more control, but honestly to most of these owners the NBA is like the opposite direction they want to be headed.

I agree players don't really have any power right now, but they could if they were organized, especially in European football.

Yeah, you are right. The flip side is increased wages. So they would probably just keep their mouths shut and play on. Always a flip side to everything with money.

Great timing by Levy in his sacking of Mou [emoji23]

Lost in all the fuss about the Super League is the fact they fired their manager 6 days before a cup final while they’re a technically still alive for Europe.

Yeah, I see some players have spoken against the concept but money talks. If players are willing to go to China for lucrative deals then they can be enticed to listen to other offers. Can't say I blame them.

I just looking at the timing of this announcement -- the day before UEFA voted on a new Champions League format -- and the lack of details about how the five relegated/promoted clubs are going to be picked -- and I think it's just negotiation for more money from UEFA for these breakaway clubs. Sure these 12 clubs are powerful but there's a lot of money at other clubs that are not part of this proposal and a lot of people that are going to be angry. They won't sit quietly on the sidelines.

But the Glazers are having a great day. Apparently their stock value has soared by over 200 million.

I'm guessing at this point the Super League should have its own thread.

heh, I was debating just reviving the old thread from a few years back when it seemed like they were going to do this, but just to the Champions League, instead of creating a whole new league.

News now that City, Chelsea, and Real will be kicked out of the UCL semis this year. Possibly by this Friday

                      PSG wins by default!

                      What a clusterfck

This may be the only way PSG wins the UCL.

The Premier League will be meeting with the other fourteen clubs tomorrow morning. This will only continue to get interesting. I was hoping for a break from refreshing pages.

Anyone at least CONSIDERING moving their support to a "non-top 6" club? I honestly don't know what to do. I know that I'm highly pissed. This sucks.

Since KSE took full control of Arsenal I've always known there's no way I could continue to follow them for too long unless ownership changed. They've definitely sped up the process the last 24 hours.

If anything, I'd start watching non-English leagues more closely than I do now.
