Re: Conference Shake-Up

should be interesting to see how the 3 bottom MWC teams do in the WAC now. Did you add any protected rivalries?

Re: Conference Shake-Up

Interesting conference moves. Boise State should continue to dominate the MWC, unless Nevada somehow rises up to the challenge. Hard to tell who will start winning the WAC.

Quarterback and Runningback Preview

In The Backfield
Who gonna be the Quarterback?

Quarterbacks

#17 Junior Stephen Morris 6'2", 184 lbs
Stephen Morris saw the field on two occasions. Both of them was when Jacory Harris was injured. Morris only completed 1 out of 4 pass for just 10 yards last year. He has the arm to make the big plays but its his decision making skill that are the question.

#11 Junior (RS) Ryan Williams 6'6" , 202 lbs

A transfer from Memphis after one season. Williams sat out in 2011 due to the transfer rules and now he will look to compete with Morris for the starting job. Williams is more accurate then Morris. The only question is how will he play when facing better competition in the ACC then in the C-USA.

#9 Freshman (RS) Jay Horn 6'4", 223 lbs
Young brother to former Hurricane center Tyler Horn. Jay will be red-shirted his freshman year. If he wants to compete for the starting job then he needs to work on his fundamentals. Such as awareness in the pocket, Accuracy and reading defenses.

----------------

Crowded in the back?
Is Lamar miller back to 100%?

Runningbacks

#6 Junior(RS) Lamar Miller 5'11", 212lbs

The 2011 season wasn't to kind for miller. Three weeks into the season he goes down with a broken elbow. The surgery was successful but he will be wearing an elbow guard on his arm until December. He only touched the ball 62 times for 404 Yds and a TD before the injury. Now he has to come back and show everyone that they injury isn't gonna slow him down.

#5 Senior Mike James 5'11", 222 lbs
When miller went down mike james step up in his place. No one expect james to have had the year he did. He touched the ball 252 times for 1,516 Yds and 15 touchdowns. Now the question is will he be splitting carries with Lamar or is he gonna be the feature back?
#24 Junior(RS) Michael Ford 5'10", 202 lbs
Ford transferred from LSU to Miami this previous off-season. He will not be playing because of the transfer rules. Ford came to Miami looking to be the starter in 2013 when mike james graduate and Lamar miller possibly might leave early for the NFL. He has shown to be able to carry the load at LSU touching the ball for 148 times for 838 Yds and 10 touchdowns. Plain and Simple is this kid is fast!

#19 Sophomore(RS) Darion Hall 5'11", 192 lbs
Darion Hall saw the field in limited time last season. He was the second running back after Lamar miller went down as he complimented mike james. Hall touched the ball 32 times for 151 Yds and 4 touchdowns. He will be moved to special teams this season.

#28 Freshman(RS) Kevin Grooms 5'9", 168 lbs

Red-shirted last year grooms looks to make impact on special teams on this year. He has the skill set to be the featured back down the road. Now he just need to make it know to the coaching staff.

#21 Freshman (Redshirted) Kevin Owens 6'0", 213 lbs
Owens will looked to be red-shirt this year. With the depth at running-back it might take some time before Owens could see the field. He will most likely be a change of pace and goal-line back down the road. If he shows improve maybe he might see himself move up in the depth Chart.

Wide Receivers and Tight Ends

Down The Field!
Who gonna be catching the ball?

Wide Receiver

#8 Senior(RS) Tommy Streeter 6'5", 212 lbs
Streeter is the only experienced receiver on this team. Last year he caught the ball 5 times for 107 Yds. Now he looks to be the #1 receiver after Miami lost their top 3 receiver to the NFL. Streeter is tall, and can get to top speed quickly. So he should be a big target in the passing game.

#88 Freshman Tony Hicks 6'1", 207 lbs

Freshman Tony Hicks should make a big impact in the passing game. He will be an instant starter complimenting Streeter on the other side of the field. Hick isn't blazing fast but he knows how to catch the ball across the middle.

#10 Freshman Darren Temple 5'11", 193 lbs
The new team slot receiver. Temple has amazing route running abilities which makes his a great candidate to work the slot. If he can add some weight to his frame and be able to work the middle of the field. Then Miami will have a very dynamic receiving core.

#85 Freshman(RS) Phillip Dorsett 5'10", 173 lbs

Looking at the team depth chart. Dorsett fits perfectly as the 4th receiving in this offense. He not big or tall but he has some great speed which is why he could see alot of time on special teams.

Along the line
Who will be blocking/receiving

Tight Ends

#82 Sophomore(RS) Asante Cleveland 6'5", 249 lbs
Asante didn't even get to see the field last year because of a broken wrist he suffered back in spring practice. Back to full health Asante could be a great asset for the hurricanes with his excellent run blocking skills.

#80 Freshman Trevor Hill 6'4", 254 lbs
One of the best Tight End in the 2012 recruiting class. Miami is known for producing some good tight ends into the NFL and trevor could be another one. His best skills is that he can stretch the field like a wide receiver. He should be in on alot of two tight end sets to best use his talents.

#46 Junior Clive Walford 6'4", 238
Clive isn't much of a blocker or a receiving tight end but he gets the job done. That all we ask of him. Last year he saw the field once and that when he caught the ball for a 7 yd gain. This year expect him to see the field alittle bit more.
#69 Freshman Curtis James 6'5", 259 lbs

A great in-line blocker. James isn't the receiving kind of tight end but has decent hands. Put him on the line and you will see him running of people on running plays. Expect him to see time at both fullback and tight end

Re: Miami Hurricanes: Decades of Dominance

Offensive & Defensive Linemen

Down in the trenches
The hogs upfront

Offensive Linemen
Left Tackle - #77 Junior Seantrel Henderson 6'8", 335 lbs
One of the key pieces to this offense line. Henderson has shown he can be that left tackle. Only giving up 6 sacks last year seantrel has improve his blocking skills a great deal.
Left Guard -#76 Freshman Bobby Bennett 6'6", 275 lbs
Starting out as a freshmen offensive linemen is pretty difficult for some. Hopefully Bennett won't have a problem with it and can settle in fast enough. He has great run blocking ability so that makes him the ideal person to put next to Henderson.
Center - #74 Freshman Derrick Ferwerda 6'5", 326 lbs
The third biggest offensive linemen Miami has on the line. Derrick should do fine at his new position and gonna be look to for making adjustments to the offensive linemen. He is an excellent pass blocker but needs to improve his run blocking skills down the road.
Right Guard -#72 Senior Brandon Washington 6'4" 331 lbs
Washington gave up 13 sacks last year. We hope that he has improved his pass blocking skills during the off-season training. He a great run blocker but he has to get better when it comes down to pass blocking.
Right Tackle - #55 Senior (RS) Ben Jones 6'5", 300 lbs

The hurricanes will be taking a look at offensive tackle Ben Jones. He didn't play last year but looks to be the starter heading into the regular season. Jones has the skills set to be a solid right tackle along this offensive line.

Rushing the passer
Find the QB and take'em down!

Defensive Linemen
Left End - #49 Sophomore(RS) Dyron Dye 6'5", 282 lbs
With Lombardi Winner Adewale Ojomo gone. Dye has some big shoes to fill this season. Dyron has all the skills to rusher the passer and stopping the run. Its just a matter of how good will he be against tough opponents?

Right End - #35 Senior Oliver Vernon 6'4", 267lbs
Vernon is a good piece on the defensive line . He had 5.5 sacks last year and looks to improve build on it. How well will Vernon be without ojomo on the other side? That the question that buzzes in the air.

Defensive Tackle - #99 Senior(RS) Marcus Forston 6'3", 307 lbs
What a season it was for Forston. He was second on the team for most sacks with 9.0. He looks to build on those stats and reek havoc in the opposing teams backfield.

Defensive Tackle - #95 Freshman(RS) Jalen Grimble 6'4", 266 lbs

Grimble a highly touted recruit last year was redshirted and looks to make an impact on the defensive line this year. He has a motor that doesn't stop going and should be able to live in backfield of the other teams.
