I'm not sure. I'm only 13 games into my season and haven't seen it either. But, I'm also the Royals lol

It definitely is. I have had it happen a couple times in my Tigers franchise. Usually on a Friday or Saturday

Cubbies win battle of league #1's.

The Chicago Cubs established themselves as the #1 team in baseball at least as April draws toward a close.

As usual, it wasnt easy as they faced off with the AL leading Boston Redsox.

Game one was pretty much dominated by Justin Steele and the Cubs as his sevin inning, two hit performance allowed the Cubs to take the 6-0 victory.

Game 2 was a wild one. The game went into extra innings after Adbert Alzolay blew his third save of the season.

In the 10th inning, Boston got out to a strong start as their ghost runner, Rafeal Devers moved up to third on a past ball. Alzolay was able to bounce back and keep the scored tied.

Then, The Cubbies scored twice in the 11th inning off of a Ian Happp homerun that wound eventually give the Cubbies the 5-3 victory after Hector Nerris secured the save, his thid.

Rafael Devers homered twice in game three as the Red Sox avoided the sweep and approved to 19-10 on the season.

The Cubs will now get ready for a four game series against the Mets (12-16 (3rd NL East) as April ends and May begins.

Cardinals take series from Rockies - Place Carlson on IL

The Cardinals (6-3) won their second straight series after taking 2 of 3 from the Rockies in St.Louis over the weekend. But all wasn't great as the Cardinals lost Dylan Carlson to a broken forearm, which landed him on the 10 Day IL.

The Cardinals won on Friday night as Max Fried pitched 6 innings allowing a single run on just 3 hits. The bullpen made things a little interesting, but still the Cardinals held on to win 5-1.

Saturday was Walker Buehler, but things didn't go well. Buehler gave up 3 runs in just 2/3 of an inning, leaving with a broken nail. Zach Thompson was solid but may have been in one inning/hitter too long, as he gave up a 3 run blast that broke the game open as the Rockies took a 6-1 lead. The Cardinals kept battling back, but ended up on the losing end of a 9-6 score.

Sunday was Jack Flaherty and despite him struggling, he only gave up 1 run thru 6 innings on 7 scattered hits. Nolan Arenado would provide the offense with 2 homeruns driving in all 3 Cardinal runs.

The Cardinals will now make a new west coast trip, first to Los Angeles for a 3 series with the Dodgers.

Dylan Carlson to 10 Day IL

The Cardinals have placed OF Dylan Carlson on the 10 Day IL with a broken forearm. Carlson is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. Carlson was injured trying to turn a single into a double and slid head first into 2nd base. Carlson was safe but was removed from the game.

Alec Burleson was recalled from Memphis to fulfill the vacant roster spot. Jordan Walker will move to right field and Alec Burleson will take over the DH duties for now.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB The Show 24 Franchise Mode Discussion Thread

It's been a long time since I've posted, but I just wanted to pop in and talk about my '22 Rockies franchise that I started back in March. I'm currently in year two, have brought the team to the point where we're potential buyers at the trade deadline, and have seen some pretty great growth w/ our farm system (though there's been some huge disappointments as well).

Without going too far into exactly what's going on with my franchise (I'll update that in another post), I just wanted to talk about one of the truly enjoyable things for me about this game: The fact that player ratings don't *necessarily* matter. Yes, if you can get a Mike Trout or Bryce Harper, you're almost guaranteed some sort of consistent production, but sometimes you find a guy with a batting stance/swing that just works for the way you play the game.

Harold Castro (2B, 3B, SS, OF) made my opening day roster simply because he was versatile defensively, and a left handed bat. Roman Quinn stayed up because of his speed. Both were expected to simply be bench bats, and I didn't expect either to stick very long.

Castro, who came in with some contact ability and little to no power, displayed by his career .287/.303/.388 with only 16 HR's in 450 games, absolutely went off with 30 (!!!) homers and 78 RBI in year 1, finishing the year 3rd on the team in WAR. It wasn't quite a Jose Bautista-esque breakout, as his OBP wasn't great, but it was a really fun breakout for me during a long, loss-filled season. The part is that 19 of his 30 homers were on the road...not bad for a guy who started the year with low 50's power!

Roman Quinn, who I figured I'd keep around for late inning defensive adjustments, and as a pinch runner, got into the lineup in May as a platoon partner for Jake Cave (who had a bit of a breakout himself), and played the best baseball of his career, with a .265 average and OBP of .330. He also his 11 homers, which more than doubled his career total.

Both of these guys only found their way into the lineup because of long-term injuries to guys like Rodgers, Bryant and McMahon, as well as mediocre/poor offensive performances from guys like Brenton Doyle, Bryant, and Tovar.

Fast forward to the All Star break in year two, and Quinn hasn't quite wilted down to his former self, but the year 1 breakout seems like it's a distant memory. As for Castro? The 30 year old is now my leadoff guy against righties, and has already hit 21 this season, and currently sits 6th in the NL in WAR.

                Royals Sweep the Mets

The Royals (11-5, 1st AL Central) swept the Mets in New York over the weekend.

Friday's game was a 3-2 victory propelled by Salvador Perez hitting a 3 run HR in the top of the 1st. Kyle Wright (2-0 3.72 ERA) got the win, and Will Smith picked up his 5th save on the year.

The Royals bats exploded in Saturday's 6-5 win. Bobby Witt Jr. went 4 for 5, scoring twice and getting an RBI. Garrett Hampson also had a great day, going 3 for 4. Salvador Perez and Nelson Velazquez each hit a HR.

Sunday's winning margin of 7-2 was the biggest of the season so far. The bats again were hot as Maikel Garcia went 4 for 5, including a HR. Cole Ragans (3-0 2.13 ERA) got the win behind 7 innings pitched.

Next up: The Royals head to the Southside of Chicago to take on the White Sox (9-7 2.0 GB AL Central) in a three game series.

*Mets and the Twins have reportedly agreed to a deal that will send the Allstar 1B Pete Alonso to Minnesota***

Yes, as the Reds he was a big target of mine but the draw didn't go our way. I remember in 2021 running a Padres franchise the luck of the draw did go our way to snag Juan Soto. However, there is some solace with this. When I do these trades manually, once a "buyer" gets hitting or pitching help they are crossed out to be out of running for another hitter or pitcher until everyone else in need gets a guy. Just to make it as fair and consistent as I can.

So I am still in contention to get the real jewel in Vlad Jr. Basically as of now it is a 1 and 7 chance for me that only gets better the longer it goes without Vlad being traded. Which is also chosen randomly, as far as WHEN he does. Haven't been able to play any games lately but will be finishing up series @ Yankees tonight.

Two big trades! Reds make a move!!

                      Twins get: 1B Pete Alonso.

Mets get: (B potential) CF Emmanuel Rodriguez, and (C potential) 2B Tanner Schobel.

Reds make a trade to bolster their bullpen

Reds strike a deal with the Miami Marlins for closer Tanner Scott. Scott has appeared in 26 games (0-2), sporting a 3.65era. He has 19 saves on the season, two more than Alexis Diaz. He also does have three blown saves.

The move really strengthens the bullpen for Cincy. One of our weaknesses. We sent down struggling RP Nick Martinez, who to begin the season was in our starting rotation. So the season for him has been horrendous personally as he goes from SP on opening day roster to the minors as a RP before the Allstar break.

                      Reds get: CP Tanner Scott

Marlins get: (C potential) RF Rece Hinds, (C potential) CF Jay Allen.

Tanner will take over our CP role with Diaz as a late inning RP.

                        Cardinals drop series to Dodgers

The Cardinals (7-5) dropped their first series on the west coast trip to the Dodgers.

The Cardinals won on Monday to begin the series with a late rally to score 3 in the 8th and take a 4-3 lead, which would be the final score.

Tuesday and Wednesday were different. Pitching fell apart and the offense was stagnant as the Cardinals were outscored 11-3 in the final two games.

The Cardinals are off Thursday as they travel to Oakland for a 3 game weekend series with the A’s.

Tanner Scott collects his 20th save of the season in his Reds debut in Yankees Stadium.

A wild game one of the series. Reds jump out to an early 4-0 lead vs Cortes in the first inning. One being unearned off a throwing error. Yankees Alex Verdugo hits his 7th HR with a two run shot to make it 4-2 in the bottom half of the 1st.

Bottom 3rd it is Stanton with a 3 run bomb, his 18th to give Yankees a 5-4 lead. They add another in the 4th before Hunter Greene is yanked out of the ballgame. Top 5th we get to their bullpen as McLain hits his 17th HR, then with two outs Elly hits his 17th with a two run shot that went 458ft vs Luke Weaver. We regain the lead 7-6.

Our newly beefed up bullpen was up to the task tonight, allowing only two hits and zero runs in 5.2ip. Funny enough, it was Diaz and newly acquired Tanner Scott who gave up the hits.

Tanner came in the 9th and Yankees got a leadoff single, so a shaky start for his Reds debut. Strikes out next batter and able to get fly outs to end the game and earn the 9-6 victory and his 20th save.

That was a pretty crazy game to start and things settled down a little, but a very fun game nonetheless. Just glad I was able to mount the come back and win.

                              Cardinals take series in Oakland

The Cardinals (9-6) took their series with the A's in Oakland over the weekend. The Cardinals had a chance at a sweep but lost on Sunday.

The Cardinals won on Friday with a come from behind win and Saturday thanks to strong pitching. On Sunday they couldn't get enough runs to overcome Miles Mikolas and the bullpen struggles.

Nolan Gorman continues to swing a hot bat with a .348 average and has now homered in 4 straight games. Victor Scott II shows glimpes of being a viable part of the lineup with his speed and ability to steal bases. Alec Burleson continues to struggle to the point he has now been replaced in the lineup, after being inserted when Carlson went to the IL. Jose Azocar has been playing right field with Jordan Walker moving back to the DH role. Its expected after this west coast trip concludes Wednesday, that Burleson will be optioned back to Memphis with either Masyn Winn or Oscar Mercado being recalled. Mercado would require a 40 man roster move, which could be Dylan Carlson transferring to the 60 Day IL, or another move.

The Cardinals head to San Francisco to wrap up their west coast trip with a 3 game series beginning on Monday.

Royals Drop Series to the White Sox

The Royals (12-7, 1st AL Central) lost 2 of 3 to the White Sox in Chicago to begin the week.

Monday's game was the only bright spot as the Royals won 4-1 in 10 innings. Bobby Witt Jr. hit went 3 for 4 with an HR, and Maikel Garcia continued his hot bat, going 4 for 5 with 2 RBI.

On Tuesday, the Royals gave up 5 runs in the 2nd inning and couldn't catch up, losing 5-3.

In Wednesday's finale, the White Sox pounded out 15 hits on their way to a 5-2 victory. The Royals were up 2-1 after 5 innings but fell apart after that.

Next up: The Royals head home to take on the Baltimore Orioles (9-9 3.5 GB AL East) in a three game series. The Royals swept the Orioles a few weeks ago in Baltimore.
