Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
30 Team Franchise and I eliminated the DH.
Looking to trade some guys who no longer have a spot in the lineup.
For KC Billy Butler has no spot with Hosmer in front at 1B.
TB has Carlos Pena at 1B and needs some O.
Butler for Hellickson straight up doesn't seem right.
Should I throw in Bruce Chen? or Maybe Montgomery or another prospect and have Rays sending Jennings to KC?
Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.Path to the Hall of Fame: Guts, Glory and Gangrene:

This Jarred Cosart is a beast in AAA. He throwing 94+ darts. He may be my first call up. Brett Wallace doing pretty well too. As well as Brad Synder. Cosart is the leading candidate. I with him in AAA it felt great. The pitching matchup was Cosart vs Mark Rodgers.

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Back to my trade for Bryce Harper I mentioned earlier to start out my Astros Organization. Once again I know it would never happen and that doesn't bother me all that much as long as it works out to be fair. How would you rate the trade on a fairness level if I threw the Nationals one of these guys
Julio Teheran - 22 years old, SP, A Potential. #5 on baseball america's top prospects for 2012 (got from the braves in a fair trade in my opinion)
or
George Springer - 23 years old, CF, A Potential. #59 on baseball america's top prospects for 2012 (from houston's organization)
That would make the trade..
Wandy, Carlos Lee, Jonathon Singleton (A rated prospect from houston), and one of those two listed above
for
Harper and a nobody from the nationals organization (need somebody for the second trade to work obviously)
I think putting one of them in would be adequate compensation.. 2 veterans who upgraded the current team, and 2 good young prospects. Thoughts?Comment

You're right. How about Chris Stewart of the Giants? He's with the Yankees IRL so depending on what roster set you're using, maybe he could be had from SF? He's a strong defensive catcher as wellFormer modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I went around to see what I could get in return of LaRoche (or Nady since the CPU seems to think he has more value) and its really slim. The Rockies would agree to send me Fowler for LaRoche, but it seems to be another case of poor CPU judgment. The Rays would agree to ship me Upton for Nady, but with Pena at 1st base, I think they would be crazy to do that.
Just my 12 cents.Comment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Originally posted by nusieAlright, need a little help here, guys.
I'm currently in a Mets franchise where I am 25-19, and just barely hanging onto first place over Atlanta (1.5GB) and Philly (2.5GB) and need some advice on who I should offer for a certain player.
The player I'm looking at is J.P. Arencibia (.287/2/10) of the Blue Jays. The reason I am looking at him, is because he is riding the bench in Toronto, because for some reason, they called up Travis d'Arnaud (.317/5/19), and he's been hitting pretty solidly for them. Also, Josh Thole (.257/2/12) has started hitting a cold streak, and my backup Mike Nickeas (.151/0/3) is worthless.
When in the trade menu, they are looking for a SP/RP/2B and I am looking for SP/RP/C. Also, when screwing around, I offered them Manny Acosta (0-1, 4.55 ERA) and Juan Urbina (2-0, 2.27 ERA), a 18/19yr old B potential, and the bar filled itself up. I personally don't think that's a fair trade, and that's where I'm struggling to come up with something.
In the beginning of the year, I had planned on moving Santana (1-5, 2.81 ERA) and Jason Bay (.298/6/34), but recently, want to keep Bay, because he's having the best offensive production on the team, and can't afford to lose that right now. The only other players on my team I WILL NOT move are Daniel Murphy, David Wright, Ike Davis, Jordany Valdespin, Dillon Gee, Jon Niese, Zach Wheeler, Matt Harvey, and Kirk Nieuwenhuis.
If you think I should include Santana into the mix, who else should I try and get from Toronto? Because I put that scenario into the game, and I was able to get Arencibia, Drabek, and a B pitcher in their minors system.
Any help, ideas, suggestions, would help. Even if it might be a catcher from another team.Steelers | Seminoles | A's | Rockets | Avalanche | Wildcats, Hoosiers | LiverpoolComment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Yeah, I thought so too. Even though he was on the trading block, MIN wanted a one of my organizations top 5 prospects, and no one lower than a B even moved the meter. Essentially, it would have taken two B's to land him. No thank you. I may need a decent starting pitcher later on!
Boy, ATL didn't. Not as steep as Doumit, but too steep for my needs. His hot symbol probably didn't help matters any. Thanks but no thanks...
Jesus Flores from the Nats
Fortunately for me, a prospect catcher with a hot symbol ranks above him in the depth chart causing Flores - who's hitting like .100 - to be 3rd overall in the Nat's organization for catchers.
Here's the thing that REALLY ticks me off about the game's trade logic though:
Because it's June 1st in my Franchise, and the Nats aren't in either "Rebuild" or "Playoff Push Mode," even though the meter would fill all the way up for a young and cheap C RP (which is FAIR), the trade always got rejected!
It wasn't until I offered to take Jason Michaels (and only Jason Michaels, who's relatively cheap, by the way), that the ALREADY full meter bar went from a decline to an approval.
What the hell???
So I just went ahead and did the deal, releasing Michaels afterwards. It's almost like the Nats wanted my prospect and a salary dump, except they seem to have forgotten that Michaels costs less than 300K.
So I just pretended that Michaels was a real D-bag in the clubhouse and that the Nats just really needed to cut ties with him.
What a disappointment.
The C prospect for Flores was enough to get the deal done. Even the CPU thought so with a full trade bar. But every time they rejected it! Jeez...just because it's June 1st doesn't mean the team philosophy should be THAT hard to overcome! They were in "Normal" mode.
Not to me...
Anyway, I think my deal was fair. And I had no problems releasing Michaels myself. Basically, I'm just pretending his involvement never happened because even the CPU itself felt Flores (at .100) for a C RP benefited them.Last edited by Heroesandvillains; 05-16-2012, 10:14 AM.Comment

Re: 2012 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
@ heroesandvillains....a) i agree with not overpaying for Doumit.....good bat, but not worth 2 B's b) the situation u described with trading for Flores is not uncommon in The Show....there's numerous occasions where the CPU will ONLY accept a trade if they throw in a irrelevant benchwarmer/irrelevant low-level prospect or if u have to.....fortunately Michaels fits in the irrelevant benchwarmer category...glad to see u finally got your backup catcherSteelers | Seminoles | A's | Rockets | Avalanche | Wildcats, Hoosiers | LiverpoolComment
