Re: HOF Sliders (Project Nemesis MLB 08)

Hey Nemesis. First off, that game I had the other day, I just noticed I never changed the difficulty in the settings. I was playing on default level and just adjusted the sliders. Here is my box scores from my last 2 games with your adjustments on HOF.

    SEA (cpu) 1/6/0
    BAL (me) 3/9/1

    BAL (me) 4/8/0
    MIL (cpu) 7/12/1

My only grief is I didn't see any gappers. Are you guys hitting any or seeing any from the AI?

You need to mix your pitches up more and work in and out of the zone. Strike outs are to be had and you need to think like a real MLB pitcher when approaching batters.

        TOR 0 / 5 / 0
        NYY 1 / 6 / 0

        Team stats:
        TOR: 5-for-31 (.161), 1 2B, 0 3B, 0 HR, 0 BB, 2 K
        NYY: 6-for-29 (.207), 1 2B, 0 3B, 0 HR, 1 BB, 7 K

        2B: Rios (Tor), Matsui (NYY)

        Pitching:
        Wang: 8 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K (92 pitches, 79% K)
        Rivera: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K

        Halladay: 6 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K (74 pitches, 74% K)
        Tallet: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

Not a very exciting game. My lone run came on a fielder's choice. It was a classic pitchers' duel. Toronto had 4 hits through 4, so I held them to 1 hit for the last 5 innings. Realistic pitch counts for a game with no walks and low strikeouts (my only walk was intentional). The double I got was a gapper by Matsui. The Blue Jays had a couple of deep flyouts to the warning track. This was a very different game than the 12-10 game I played with similar sliders but with CPU PITCHER AGRESSION at +2.

I did tweak one slider. After 3 innings, Halladay's strike pct. was at 79%. Since it was discovered that (possibly) the STRIKE % slider is backwards (and I'm not sure if Nemesis accounts for that), I switched it from -2 to +2, just to see if it made a difference. He finished with a 74% strike pct., albeit he was throwing more balls in the later innings as he was tiring. Still not a lot of walks, but a lot of that is on me, as there were a fair amount of pitches thrown out of the zone that I swung at. I didn't expect a lot of walks from Halladay and Wang, anyway.
We need to keep the pitcher aggressiveness on the negative side of things. I am not convinced the strike % slider is backwards. I think people are reaching a little.

The game you had is definitely believable and even though it was not a huge scoring event, it was not your usual solo home run win.

They have played very well on All-Star for my skill level. +2 pitch speed would probably be too fast for me, so if it is not necessary to help the CPU throw out my baserunners while stealing, I will set it back to 0. Thanks.
-Correct, relief should be at -3 to take away stamina.

-Pitch speed is an individual slider adjustment. Set it where you feel comfortable.

These actually play pretty well on ALL- STAR, there is nothing I would recommend adjusting.

Sounds like a nice game you had there. There are times where you actually get a nervous feeling when the game is on the line!

It is not necessary, they were basically adjusted to make things harder for the human player.

To be honest, I get a ton of gappers. I am a big proponent of using the left stick and strongly believe this where you get your best hitting from.

Thanks, just noticed in your original post that you stated it was - 3 now
Great. I loved your sliders last year as well, and they played great on all-star.
One more question though. I play using meter. Do you recommend changing pitch command to account for using meter? Do you think default would be good? Anyone else use meter with Nemesis' sliders, and where do you have pitch command? Thanks.

If you are using the meter, definitely keep it at -10 to keep it challenging.

Thanks for using them! Let me know if you have any other questions!

I've found that the most difficulty way to pitch is using classic from the pitcher view with no pitch ball marker.

Had both the clubs Ace's pitching (CC vs. Weaver). It was a pretty close game until Vlad decided to knock CC for a 400 foot dinger. Two HR's for me, one for them. Three doubles total for both teams combined which is pretty good. Overall these worked awesome.

Going to try another game with the #5 Starters and see what kind of game I get.

Hey Nem just wanted to send some props your way for the new set. I finally tried them out last night and lost a a heart breaker to Seattle as the Yanks.

                              NYY 3/7/1

I was down 3-0 going into the 8th when I was able to jack a 3 run homer with Damon. Sexson then jacked a first pitch homer off Bruney because his confidence was down (my fault anyways, I play with API off so I couldn't use the workaround). Hernandez struck me out 10 times (was swinging at a lot junk) and I was able to strike them out 8 times with Kennedy, Bruney and Joba. I walked 1 and they walked none. All in all it was a great game with plenty of hit variety, doubles and everything else you would expect. I know it's only 1 game but I think I have finally decided to go with HOF. As long as I see the variety I saw in the perfect set, I'll be sticking with these.
