Unfortunate how Jays have done nothing anywhere close to as relevant since then.

Except in '97 when there was a glimmer of hope and the Jays had faint chances at the playoffs.

There's a report out of MLB.com that the Alex Anthopoulos is intent on upgrading the infield this offseason and is targeting a trade with the White Sox for 2B Gordon Beckham.

          Interesting.....

They really like Sanchez and Stroman, maybe we could expand this to include Sale.

We don't exactly have the best history of trading with the White Sox.

I wonder what Mike Sirotka is doing these days?

Minus the David Wells deal, no other Jays-White Sox deal has really been that significant. If anything, I'd actually say Jays have gotten the better in the history of Jays-White Sox deals.

I always thought the Santos for Nestor Molina deal was very strange from the White Sox perspective and then Santos came up lame very early in April the next season.

It's almost like they knew something.

Trade with the White Sox at your own risk.

Apparently the story is that the Blue Jays were told about Santos' elbow and were given a discounted price for it. A cost controlled young reliever who's pretty excellent usually costs a bit more than Nestor Molina.

Where did you read that? That doesn't make AA look good at all.

I forget quite where I read it so take that for what you will. I guess he underestimated the elbow issues and figured Molina would bust, and he's been right so far on the latter.

                          Some recent Jays notes:

                          - AA told Shi Davidi that it looks like it's a 50/50 split in terms of what they'll do this offseason as about half of their plans see them going into free agency and another half sees them making moves via trade.

                          - The Jays may dip into the OF market this offseason especially if they don't think Cabrera can bounce back from his 2013 season.

                          - Even though the Jays picked up Adam Lind's option there's a chance they may package him in some kind of deal.

Jays could be bringing in Trey Hillman(yes, another guy apart of the KC staff with Gibbons in 09.....) to be their 1st base coach. I don't get why Jays are putting together a coaching staff that Gibbons wants, there's not even a guarantee he'll be here for the duration of this season(his contract expires at the end of this year,if we get off to a bad enough start, I doubt he'll last the whole season)

Something I thought about....Would people be willing to sign Morneau if it lead to us trading Lind or EE for a 2B or C(whichever one of those positions we don't end up signing the guy we wanted)?

Actually i'm glad the Jays are allowing the manager to pick his staff. Honestly, Gibby should've been allowed free reign last year. It seems management has a hard time letting the manager pick who he wants on his staff. Irregardless of the fact that Gibby may be gone after this season it's a good move because if he's indeed gone after the season it's more than likely AA will be gone too.

I dunno about Morneau he really struggled towards the end of last season though i'm guessing it's more due to switching leagues late and adjusting to a new situation. He'd definitely be an upgrade defensively. I think Lind may be gone for the right price anyways. As for our sluggers it's more likely Bautista will be dealt than Edwin.

I don't see how Bautista goes when that'd mean we'd be weak on OF. Already losing Davis, who knows if Melky will stay healthy, so if Bautista is gone, our OF would be in horrible shape.
